Ipod touch password locked

My son forgot his password to the ipod touch and keeps getting locked out. How do we retrieve his password?
thanks!

Connect the iOS device to your computer and and try to make a backup. Yu likely can't make one.
iOS: How to back up
Then restore via iTunes. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:

My ipod touch is locked, i know the password although when i go to  enter it nothing happens it as if the touch screen isnt working, i have held down the power and home button to reset it, it works for a second then stops working again. is there anyway i can completely reset the factory settings

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod touch password is locked

My daughters ipod touch is locked and she does not know the password.  The laptop that it was originally connected to no longer works.  I have an iphone connected to my computer and was thinking I could hook hers up to mine and some how restore hers?  When I plug hers in, it says I need the password to do anything.  I thought about taking it over to grandma's (no itunes account on her computer) and try to set up a new itunes account for her.....but will it STILL ask for a password?  If anybody has any ideas please let me know. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

okay!! you will have to put it in COMPLETE restore mode!!!!!!!!!!
    Steps:
    1. hold the sleep button for 3 seconds (the off button)
    2. then hold the sleep and home button for 10 seconds
    3. then let go of the power button
    4. still hold the home button for 10 seconds
    5. Let go
    6. Then turn it on and it should say that you need to plug it into itunes!
happened to me heaps of tiems lol

  • Lost my iPod touch password

What I can do to recover my iPod touch password to unlock

you can try to guess it, but thats it.
You are talking about the "slide to unlock" pass code right?  All you can do is guess. You will eventually get locked out of your ipod if you guess it wrong too many times. You cannot  restore from backup, because it will have your passcode on it as well.
all you can do is restore as new.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083  Make a backup of your pictures
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 Transfer your purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137  setting up as new
Turn on iCloud (Settings>iCloud>turn everything on you want saved)
After you restore as new, you can sync all your apps and music back over. make sure you write down the icloud account you are signed in to (some people have multiple accounts)
By the way if you do get locked out, look at the following article.

  • Can not access home network via ipod touch, password entered  not accepted

Can not access home network via ipod touch, password entered not accepted
Trying to help my son set up his ipod touch to connect to the network and the password I entered is not accepted.
    1. Which password is required? I entered the password I use for logging into my router
    2. The home network is recognized, when selected it requires a password to be entered, but I am just not sure what password it is looking for to connect.
I have not been able to find any information on this subject

jersey0904, Welcome to the discussion area!
You need to enter the wireless encryption password... not the administrative password for the router.
