Ipod touch photo thumbnails missing

I transferred my iphoto library from a macbook pro to a new flat panel mac, both running 10.5.8. After syncing the photos, the names of the albums show up on my ipod touch, but the icons are scrambled or missing. If I touch one of the blank placeholders (where a photo should be) the photo appears. So, I am missing the thumbnails on the ipod touch. iPhoto works fine on the new machine.
In other posts, mention was made about the ipod photo cache in the "package contents" of iphoto. When I look in there, no ipod photo cache on either machine.
Have tried resetting the ipod, removing all photos from ipod and resynching ... but the same issue. Am guessing it is a cache file, but I can't find it. Any suggestions before I take the ipod back to factory settings? Not sure that will even do it if the computer is copying a goofy cache file.

Well over a hundred views and no ideas .... guess I will have to give them a call ... yuck.

  • My ipod touch 4g is missing alot of important apps like settings, music, itunes store, app store and many more and i was wondering if there is any way at all to fix this for free or less than 70 dollars

My ipod touch 4g is missing alot of important apps like settings, music, itunes store, app store and many more and i was wondering if there is any way at all to fix this for free or less than 70 dollars

First try using Spotlight Search to find Settings.  If that works go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Settings.  If you can't get to Settings:
    Try a reset:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't work do a restore from backup or to factory settings:

  • An ipod touch has gone missing

my daughter's touch has gone missing and i wanted to know what my options were, if any to get pictures and music back; and/or options to see if the device is being used.  I have the serial number
    thanks

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

  • Ipod touch 4th gen missing about 12 songs and I can't get them to sync back.

After syncing my ipod, about 12 songs are missing and won't go back on. I've tried to take my music off my ipod and then put it back on but those songs are still missing. All the songs on my iTunes are checked. The music settings in iTunes for iPod says sync entire library and that's marked. And the songs are still on my iTunes... just not my iPod.

Try unsyncing and resyncing all of your music.  To do this, remove the tick mark next to Sync Music from under the iPod's Music tab and click Apply in the lower right hand corner. This will remove all tracks from the iPod. When it has finished, re-apply the check mark and again apply the changes to resync all music back over to the device. Make sure that Sync Entire library is still selected and that Sync only checked songs and videos is NOT selected.
    Any luck there?
Where are you getting the total number of songs at on both iTunes and your iPod Touch?

  • Why is the iPod Touch (4th Gen) missing the video setting for TV Out?

Has anyone else noticed that in the iPod Touch (4th Gen) that there isn't a video setting for TV Out? It's not on the new iPhone either. I wanted to attach an AV Composite cord from my iPod to my TV. It won't work because of the missing video setting. You would think that since this is new technology, it would have that setting. After all, my iPod from 2005 has that feature and works just fine with the $39 AV Compostie cable from Apple. I was hoping to display what I have on my iPod Touch to my TV, but discovered that I couldn't. When I called Apple, they thought at first I had a defective cable. But later told me that i OS 5 left out the video out feature as if by mistake. Could anyone elaborate on this issue? I would appreciate it. Thanks!!

I am well aware that setting was on the iPod before iOS 5! My question is why is it missing? Because right now, Apple is selling the AV Composite cable claiming it's compatible with the iPod Touch (4th Gen) and it's not. Thank you!

How can an iPod Touch app (photo app) that was accidentally deleted be recovered.
This is an app that is part of he default set of apps and not an app downloaded from the iTunes or App Store

    You cannot delete it.
It is likely on another page, or in a folder, or you have the restirictions on

  • Ipod Touch Photo Transfer

    HI;
Part 2: I understand there is no direct transfer available at this time for photos. However, what I have found is that with my phone I can take 2megapixel photos and e-mail them or put in a microsd card from a camera and upload them to an e-mail address. They come through onto the Ipod touch promptly, and look excellent in the web browser.
When I save them, I lose all the resolution and they look horrible from the photos app.
So now all I am looking for is a way to save my photos from mail in there regular resolution.
    Thanks so much
    Jamie

what do you mean by 'no direct transfer' for photos?
you can directly transfer them from you computer to your ipod, syncing them like you do everything else.
the resolution of photos obtained on the ipod touch is a common problem (though not one i have encountered personally). the latest update claimed to fix this, some people said it worked, others say it didn't. unfortunately there may be nothing you can do about this - other than feedback to apple to let them know it is still happening.

edit: ok, i've see your original post about 'direct transfer'.

  • IPod Touch Photo syncing

Ok so i recently restored and updated my iPod Touch (4th gen) to iOS 6.1.5 but i backed up all my photos to my computer b4 the restore cuz i knew it would delete everything (and obviously it did) but when i went to go sync my photos back to my iPod (with the photo's tab under the iPod summary) something happened, i have 1.24 gigs of photos i want to sync to my iPod but iTunes says its going to take up 4.50 gigs, and i only have a 6.40 capacity on my iPod so obviously that just isnt gonna work out, is there some way i can fix this or is there an alternative way i can sync my photos to my iPod without it taking up a great clusture of my memory?????
ALSO i tried the iCloud Photo Stream to check it out, and it did i sent myself a family pic i use as my wall paper but when i checked it on iTunes it said "1 Photo = 14.8MB" an on the Windows explorer it says its only 373KB which is a huge difference
Is there some way to fix this or is iTunes trolling with me or can i fix this by restoring my iPod OR WHAT
    Thanks

    Hello, Waluigi 64.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Try deleting the iPod Photo Cache and the sync the photos to your iPod.  The iPod Photo Cache is usually located in your My Pictures folder.

  • IPod Touch Photo Orientation

I spent a lot of time tediously rotating photos on iPhoto so that they are the right way up. When I plugged my iPod Touch in, it did the usual job of optimising then transferring the photos over. Unfortunately none of the photos I had to rotate were orientated correctly on my ipod.
Does anyone know how I can resolve this?
The only way I can think of it to re-optimise the photos. I deleted a file called "iPod Photo Cache" (~/Pictures/iPod Photo Cache), but this didn't re-optimise the photos after i deleted the photo's off my ipod, then replaced them.

When you rotate a photo in iPhoto, it is not actually rotated and saved as the jpg file would need to be recompressed, thereby losing quality.
iPhoto simply add the rotation info the EXIF tags.
See this -> Mac OS X 10.4: Rotated images do not appear rotated in some applications"

  • Ipod touch PHOTO question

hi i  wanna ask how i can see my ipod touch 4th gen photo in my computer and manage it ( i mean i want to connect my ipod in my computer and see the photo of my ipod in computer is there any solution for this)

Perhaps if you defined what you meant by 'see' a little more clearly Fish would be able to give you a more helpful answer?
If you want to be able to see your home screens and move apps around on them via your computer then you simply need to plug you iPod into your computer, open iTunes, and select your iPod from the Devices menu in the sidebar (look for the 'Apps' tab along the top of the iPod management pane).
If you want to be able to dig into the internal settings of the device then you're going to need something like iPhone Explorer (a Google search will point you in the right direction), or a jailbreak.

  • Ipod Touch Photo Problem

Im a window user, I've trying to put photos into my ipod touch, but everytime i do so, it will delete all the other pics i put on itouch before, any idea what I''m doing wrong? Please help

Hello, and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Unfortunately, you can only sync photos, not add them individually. So what you have to do is set up a folder with all your iPod pics inside in as many subfolders as you like, but iTunes will only recognise the first layer.
Then tell iTunes to sync with that folder and manage that folder afterwards as you like.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPod Touch 4G Backup Missing

I have an iPod Touch 4G with the most recent software and iTunes on my MacBook Pro.  For whatever reason, the audio quit working on my iPod.  After turning it off and back on, still didn't work. Ditto with re-synching it.  So I go to restore it.  I back it up, and restore.  Well, I get an error message when I try to restore.  No code, just an error message.  I try to restore with prior backups listed, and I keep getting the error message.  So I have apparently lost all my app data, including in-app purchases.  I keep getting the error message with older backups that are saved.  Any suggestions for what I can do?  Where are all the backups that I am supposed to have from when I synch?  According to my computer (when I go through the path listed in the support forums), I have backup from today (which don't work), from July 21st, (which don't work), and from Feb.  I synch my iPod MUCH more frequently than that!  I do not have a more recent time machine backup (which I guess I need to start doing more frequently!) to get a more recent backup than that.
Edit:  I also have an iPad, which I backedup and restored to try to put some of the data from my iPod onto it.  As I have only had it for a few days (1st gen), I don't have much information on it to lose yet.  Interstingly, after the restore from backup failed from my iPod data, I was able to restore from my iPad backup that I just did with no problem.  I don't know why it will backup and restore on my iPad but not on my iPod.

My error message from my older backups says "because some files could not be restores from the backup."  I have no idea how to get around this.  The ones on my Time Machine from April also say this.
