Ipod touch pops up as a camera.

OK. At first, I would plug my ipod in as usual and a window would pop up saying that my ipod was a camera. Through other suggestions to other questions, I was able to disable these windows. On another suggestion page, I figured out how to put my ipod into recovery mode. After doing this, a windows manager screen came up. After going through the process, it told me that I needed the install CD. I don't know that I got one when I got my ipod and if I did, I don't know where it is. Theses windows do not show up anymore when I put my ipod on recovery mode and plug it in. itunes also does not open when I plug my ipod in. When I look under device manager, and then under Universal Serial Bus controllers, I am unable to find Apple ipod. I have installed and reinstalled itunes 9, but ipod still won't show up in the left hand column. I cannot find any more questions in the forum that will help me so i wrote my own hoping somebody knows how to help me. Please help.

Try other USB ports on your computer. Make sure your computer OS is up-to-date with any service patches. If all else fails and you have truly exhausted all support articles and suggestions on this user forum you can try contacting Apple or going to an Apple store to see if there is a problem with the iPod...although I have a feeling it may be something with your computer. Perhaps the uninstalls of iTunes aren't complete...try uninstalling once more by following the article below if this is not the complete way you have done previous uninstalls. It may or may not help, but anything is worth a try.

my ipod touch shows up as a camera on my pc and wont show up at all on itunes

    Hi
I was having the same problem for ages. I followed a apple advice section telling me to check the processes for apple mobile device manager, and check for the applusb.sys driver, and they were both there and working. I would advise you to do this. If they are not showing, then the article says to re-install itunes. here is the article by the way. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1852
However this did not fix my problem. So I decided to try re-installing the actual driver, instead of the whole of itunes. Try this, as it worked for me
(I don't no how good with computers you are, so I'll put simple steps, sorry if it seems patronising!)
    1) Go to start, and Run
    2) Type "devmgmt.msc" without speech marks
    3) A screen with your computers name at the top, with seperate sections for things like keyboards and moniters should have come up. At the bottom you should see Universal serial bus (usb). Expand it and look for apple ipod, or somthing similar (there's prob only be one by apple) If it's not there make sure your ipod is plugged in!
    4) Right click and go to properties
    5) Click the 'Driver' tab
    6) You should see 'Roll back changes' as an option. Click that and accept/press yes to the prompts that pop up.
    7) Wait for a few seconds (may take a min or two) until your back to the previous screen described in step 3
    8) Now Under 'portable devices', apple ipod should be listed. Right click that, and choose 'Update driver software' Choose to automatically search.
    9) Again wait, and when it's complete Apple iPod should show under universal seriel bus (usb) section again.
    10) Exit out of device manager, and open up itunes. Your ipod should now be there. You may need to un plug it and plug it in.
What this effectivly does is re-install the device used to search for iPods by itunes. For some reason, mine and probably yours ran into problems.
Hope you found this helpful, and I'll check back later if you have any problems or questions.

  • Is there an app i can download for a ipod touch 4 that uses your camera instead of your screen for a flashlight

is there an app i can download for an ipod touch 4 that uses your camera instead of your screen

Since the iPod touch doesn't have an LCDflash like the iPhone any app that would turn on the LCD flash on the iPhone into a "flashlight" wouldn't work with the iPod.

  • Does ipod touch 5th gen have a camera

my daughter says that she has to have the 32 gb for the camera    does the 16 have the same options as the 32

The 16GB iPod touch has a front-facing camera for video calling and such, but no camera on the rear. The 32GB and 64GB models have both a front-facing camera and a rear 5MP iSight camera.

  • I wanted to ask whether the camera for ipod touch comparable to a digital camera? if not are there apps available that can turn it into a digital camera? i want to buy an ipod touch and i like photography....what should i do?plz suggest

The iPod touch has a very rudimentary camera.  It has only a 0.6 MP resolution, no optical zoom, no flash, etc.   There is no app that can improve this as it is limited by the hardware. So it is not a replacement for a digital camera (nor even for an iPhone whose camera has a 5.0 MP resolution.

  • Ipod touch 5g 16 gb with camera???

    Hello,
I thought I saw last week an ipod touch 5g 16gb with a camera on the back and on the front.
But I cant find it anymore. Does this really exist?
    Rick

I never seen or heard of a 16 GB 5G with a backup camera. It only has a front camera. The 32 and 65 GB ones have both front and back cameras.

  • Why does my ipod touch show up as a camera?

Hello. I upgraded to windows 7 about three weeks ago and I didn't have a single problem with my ipod touch. Yesterday a friend of mine signed into his account on my itunes to download some music. Today, I plugged my ipod touch into my laptop and it shows up as a camera and would not show up in itunes. I have searched forums the web over and I have done the following: Uninstall/IInstall itunes. Restart my computer. Reset the ipod. Restart the ipod. Restart the computer and reset the ipod. I uninstalled all apple software from itunes, to the updater, bonjure, and quicktime. Restarted the computer. I have went into and changed the settings for the device so it is supposed to ask me what it will show up when the autoplay pops up. NOTHING is working. I use my ipod all day and everywhere I go. If any one at all can help with a solution that doesn't involve simple uninstall/reinstall/restart, I would appreciate the help. I don't understand why this happended. I signed back into my itunes account as well after reinstalling everything. I am at a total loss. Thank you

It is normal and expected for an iPod to show up as a camera as well as in iTunes.  Try here:

  • IPod Touch Recognized as a Digital Camera in Windows 7 (x64) - SOLUTION!

    Hi guys
After several days I finally found the solution to this with some help from Apple 2nd level support.
Symptom: iPod Touch is not connecting to iTunes. Under My Computer you find the iPod as a Portable Device > Digital Camera
Cause: Windows 7 wasn't able to install the right Driver for your Touch.
    Solution:
    1. Uninstall all the Apple software via Control Panel:
    - iTunes
    - Quicktime
    - Apple Software Update
    - Apple Mobile Device Support
    - Bonjour
    - Apple Application Support
    2. Delete all the directories related to Apple (Including Apple,iPod, iTunes, Quicktime and Apple Computer -if they are there-) under:
    - C:\Program File\Apple
    - c:\Program Files (x86)
    - C:\users\<USER>\AppData\Local
    - C:\users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming
    3. Restart
    4. Reinstall iTunes (Right click and run as Administrator) but THIS IS THE TRICK!! change the installation path to C:\program files\iTunes (Remove x86) !
    5. Connect ipod
It will still be a Camera..don't worry..
    6. Go to My Computer > right click > Manage > Device Managers > Find your ipod under the Portable Devices
    7. Right Click > Update driver > Specific location and browse C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device support\Drivers
    8. After succesfully installed this driver you will be able to see your iPod Touch in iTunes
    Enjoy !

  • My iPod touch is recognized as a camera on my computer, but it will not show up in iTunes and I can't sync it. Help?

When I plug my iPod touch in now, it doesn't open in iTunes and nothing happens. If I go to My Computer, I can see that it is recognized but it says it is a digital camera and I can't open it with iTunes at all...

Im having the exact same problem! I seriously don't want to reinstall Itunes, It will completly muck up my Library!
    Reasons:
    1. About a year ago I decided to change my music too have a much 'cleaner' Ipod, some of my old purchased songs that I have removed are still in my Itunes folder, just not in my Library. I have a feeling these will appear back in my library after reinstalling..
    2. I know artists who officially release their music for free, therefore its legal for me to download their albums free online. These go into my downloads folder which I then drag into my Itunes Library, I have well over 100s of songs/ albums, and these aren't in my Itunes folders (Atleast to what ive seen) So I doubt these will be moved into my library after reinstalling (And it will be a REAL PAIN moving them ALL back in.)
    3. I don't even know for sure if this is even going to work! I may just waste my own time, and like ive said on posts similar to this, I really reckon that Apple needs to fix their side of the problem. Ive seen people sayign they reinstalled, it didnt fix anything, Device is still un-recognized, I went through diagnostics on Itunes, exactly what it comes up with is that it can't recognize my Ipod touch device.
Please help! I have an un-answered thread, none of Apple support helps at all, and I really needed to sync my Ipod for Christmas, that isn't happening now :/
We need Solid answers please. Not these try and risk waisting your whole day and not even get half of your favorite songs back.

  • IPod touch 5G only recognized as camera in "My Computer", not recognized in iTunes

Hello all, I received a new iPod touch for Christmas and I cannot get it to be recognized under iTunes. It is only recognized as a camera under My Computer in Windows XP. I believe my problems began when I recently upgraded my iTunes from version 10.5.3 to version 10.7 (not ready for iTunes 11 yet) so I could sync my iPod touch with iOS 6. During the installation of iTunes 10.7, I ran into a problem with the drivers for burning CDs with iTunes being missing so I followed the steps in this article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3299 by reinstalling iTunes and changing the registry settings beginning at Step 11. I solved that problem and now I have a problem with my iPod touch not being recognized by iTunes. Please help!
Also, if this helps, my old iPod 5th generation 30GB is still able to be recognized in iTunes. So what's going on with my iPod touch??

It will only ever be recognized as a camera in "My Computer" because that is what it is.
Install the latest version of iTunes and then try again.

  • My ipod touch is recognised as a camera when plugged into itunes.  How can I get itunes to recognise my ipod and my ipad please.

My computer in itunes is not recognising my ipod touch or my ipad.  It comes up as ing it as a camera.  Can anyone help in very simple language please.

  • Need help, Ipod Touch being recognized as a camera on Windows XP

Whenever I go to do something with my ipod and pull up My Computer, my iPod is always shown as a digital camera. I looked all around for solutions to this and found one that I think is the solution that I need.  It asks you to pull up device manager and update the driver to usbaapl (under system 32 or Mobile Device Support) but when i go to click on the file "usbaapl.inf" it says it cannot find a better driver than the one previously installed.  The file i previously mentioned is only a setup information file, which has me concerned as to the underlying problem, but there are no other choices (the .dll and .sys) listed at all.  I have the latest version of iTunes (just reinstalled it yesterday) and my iPod software is up to date. Someone please help me!!!

Try everthing here. I would start with remiving and reinstalling all the Apple software using the link in the following.

I cant activate my ipod touch and it shows up as a digital camera on my PC (XP professional sp3) as soon as it is plugged into the usb connection and it does not show up in my itunes ver 10.1.1.4. so I can't transfer music or update apps.
This same ipod when plugged into my MAC also comes up saying it is a camera but shows up in my itunes
