IPod Touch power button stuck
So I woke up one morning and my iPod's power on/off button was stuck in. I couldn't turn the device on or off, and I had to use the home button.
Eventually, I found out about the Accessive Touch thing but it's annoying having to do all of that when I can just click the button off. Plus I always touch it by accident.
Is there anyway I can replace the button or get it to pop out again?

My iPod Touch power button is stuck and will not pop back up. My iPod Touch Repairs and Service Coverage is still active, Does that mean I can get a new iPod Touch?
Apple will most likely exchange it. The one you receive will be refurbished.

Ipod Nano - Power Button Stuck
I had a nano that I dropped and paid to replace at the Genius Bar in September of 2012. Just a couple of weeks ago, the power button became stuck all of a sudden (literally, worked fine using it on the commute to work in the morning, became stuck on the commute home), making it exteremly difficult to press and function.
I just contacted AppleCare in which they said it was out of warranty because it was purchased in October 2005 (I think that was my 1st gen Nano!). I paid to have my nano replaced way under a year ago and they said it's because the warranty doesn't roll over?? Is this true? So if that's the case, if all of a sudden it stopped working a day after I get a replacement, I' would be out of luck too??
Please help! I don't want to put more money into this.I had this question too and I brought my nano to the genius bar (remember to make reservation before going), they let me pay HK$488 and issued me a brand new 6th, exactly the same model of the one I had! Super satisfied, you should have a try too.
My previously replaced 6th nano the power button stuck, I think because I made use of the fast key of skipping the songs (pressing the home button twice while playing songs), the button I guess suggested to be over-used.
Good luck -
Ipod touch home button stuck and the power will not turn on
Can someone help me? My daughter's ipod touch 4th generation has a stuck home button. We have changed the settings so that the alternate home button is on the screen; however, while she was using it earlier, the ipod shut off and will not turn back on. We have tried to plug it in, hold the power button, etc. Since the home button doesn't work, we can't hold the power and home buttons simultaneously as recommended. Any other ideas?
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recovery mode, place the iPod in recovery mode using:
For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
or
http://joshuabailey1997.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/recboot-v1-3/
If necessary:
Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
and
RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
For MAC or PC
The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
Installs blootware on PC too
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

IPod Touch Power Button Issue?
I have an 8GB 1st Generation iPod Touch (The one without the camera, power button on the left side instead of the right, yada yada yada). I've had it since Christmas, and it's run perfectly well, until yesterday. I began to notice that the power button (the small button at the top) was sticky. Not stuck, but simply sticky. Instead of having to tap it and add a slight pressure to get it to turn on, turn off, lock, ect, I now have to push down so hard that it leaves imprints on my fingers, not to mention that it doesn't always respond, as if it's jammed, and if I'm not very persistent it will lock, but not turn off. I have to try three or four times to turn it off using the power button, though occasionally the screen will flicker like I'm hitting the button multiple times. It's not like the button is stuck - I can still use it, but it's sticky. I was wondering if there is any solution that doesn't require sending my iPod in?
If you need any further explanation feel free to let me know, I'll be willing to tell you. Sending my iPod in isn't a problem really, though if there's a simple fix that I'm not aware of (seeing as this is my first iPod) I'd be much more willing to keep it here.Hi,
I have an 32G 2nd generation iPod touch with a problematic on/off button, and I'm not sure this is a physical problem at all.
My touch worked perfectly well until the version 3.0 update, and then I started having problems with the on/off "wake/sleep" button.
I often have to take 3 or 4 attempts to turn the screen off, and then when it does turn off it comes back on again with the "red bar" to switch it off. This is only supposed to happen when you purposely hold down the on/off button, but it does it when it feels like it now!
Like I said, it worked perfectly well on the version 2.0 software, but you couldn't possibly get into DFU mode to return it to version 2 because holding onto the button no longer seems to get the "red" bar to come up, so I've no idea where I am with it! It drives me nuts, but I'm almost positive it's an issue with the software.
Yes, I've tried a restore on several occasions, and turning it off and on so many times I can't count, but the problem never goes away!
I've asked Apple several times to deal with the issue, but they've had at least 6 attempts now, and nothing has been done about it. My Touch will now be stuck on 4.1 forever as I can't get iTunes 10, because I have an old mac that's on 10.4.11.
I'll have to live with it as it is, as I can't afford to upgrade, and I don't want to anyway because it works perfectly well, EXCEPT for this one annoying issue. -
(it is not stuck it is more likely dead if i press it really hard it works...) so is there way to repair it? Or i must send it somewhere to repair it? (I still have warranti on it but it was buyed in America and i am from slovakia too far away....) Can i go to the slovak Apple store with american warranty? and last question how mutch will it cost if i am not going to use waranty...?
Hi tiny1991
I have just taken the advise of cassie0668 as my iPod Touch button is exactly like yours ...... However, after following the instructions I have not got the problem solved ... -
Is the Ipod Touch power button also a volume control?
Ever since I got my iPod Touch, whenever I press the power button, the volume goes up one level. I never thought anything of it until I started wanting to take screen shots and the volume control icon ends up in the picture, which is REALLY annoying and no one else seems to know why. I read around under apple support and in discussions, and no one else seems to have this problem. Is this normal? And how can I fix it?
I added a screen shot that I took on my iPod Touch so you know what I mean by volume control icon.No it is not

My iPod Touch Power Button is Acting Up?
My ipod touch is a new 4g, and when I turn it on it turns off really fast, and then I press it again and it comes on. It is really annoying when I press it and it just turns off, so I have to press it again to turn it on. Is there anyway to fix that? Also I bought my ipod from wallmart about 4 months ago and am wondering if it is under warrenty with apple. Like if I break a button or something will apple fix it or is there nothing I can do?
Try the following to rule out a saftware problem:
- Reset. N0thing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
Ifyo still have a problem then you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. If defective, Apple will replace your iPod under warranty. You can check your warranty by entering your SN here:
Apple - Support - Check Your Service and Support Coverage -
