Hi all. I want to buy Apple ipod touch 5g which is yet to come in near future . Apple says it will be around $299 but i am from india. Please let me know is it legal to get it shipped from US Apple Store and what will be the total cost including shipping cost and Impost/Export Duty charges. Please tell me.I really need some real information.

Becasue Apple does NOT ship out of country at all. This is how they have decided to run their extraordinarily successful business.
They have Apple Stores in your country. You need to buy it there. If you could buy from other countries stores, then their stores would be in competition with themselves. This would make no sense.

IPhone versus iPod Touch, price differences COMPLAINT

hello, I am from belgium, and I am starting to wonder why I bought a iPhone 4, while 3 months later, the new iPod Touch comes out, and basically can do everything a iPhone can?
Here in Belgium the iPhone costs 639€ wich is I guess more then 650$, while for the new ipod touch, the price has been set at about 230$ if I'm right?
Could someone tell me WHY we are forced to pay roughly 400$ more just to have 3G and GPS?????
how is this even possible? should I have to live in the US to get regular prices for apple products?!

Tamara; I know this, but I do not understand a price difference of over 400$ for a extra chipset that offers 3G/Edge/GPRS & GPS. I know the ipod does not have it, and I know I am not forced to buy one over the other or any of them at all.
I'm actually very pleased with my product, but I do not understand how the price difference can be that high? The ONLY difference, is the addition of the chipset for cellphone usage!
The ipod even has the camera now ! ( and without the simcard, I don't think the ipod makes the user pay the additional 0,20 c that iPhone 4 users pay for one time activation - each time the iPhone is restored though - for facetime... )
I don't understand how 2 products with such small ( even though important ) differences can have a that price difference as well

I HAVE searched, and a good answer to my question was not found. The new iPhone is $199, and the iPod Touch is currently $299. I am aware that the iPhone plan rates have gone up. I would like to know if there has been any kind of announcement for the iPod Touch and a price drop. My 14th birthday is in about a month, I think I need to upgrade my 1g nano, but I don't think I can just run out there and spend $300.

What's the usual going price to repair a cracked display screen on an iPod touch?

The display screen is severly cracked, and I want to take it to get it repaired. The problem is that at the moment I don't have a job, so I don't have much money, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the usual price for this repair costs. Hey Jonathan, You would have to check with Walmart and there return policies to be certain. But with a receipt showing that you purchased a 32G model not a 16G model and all the packing boxes and papers, I don't know why not, but I don't work for Walmart either. Recently, in june, i bought in a no warranty exchange my ipod touch 16Go almost 244€. Now I want to sell it, but what price should i ask ? I'm thinking of 150€ for it... Do you think it's too high ?

Seems that the problem isn't software related.
I've downgraded to 2.2.1 from 3.0 and nothing happen.
I can't buy apps from AppStore, I can't join a WiFi network and much more...
Apple made *faulty digitizers* (touch screens) cause as I've searched on the internet, many others have the same problem. Since it's out of warranty, Apple is covered... BUT customers should know that even if they don't drop their device or if they protect them, no matter what, one day they won't be able to touch some random areas of their screens.
As a customer _I demand answer_ and also a replacement program for faulty digitizers since will be confirmed that the customer never dropped or scratched the faulty device.
Also, since in Greece (where I live) we don't have Apple official representation as the rest of the European countries, I probably will have to pay A LOT to Rainbow S.A for a digitizer replacement and also to wait about a MONTH to get my device back.
Thank you Apple for making perfect products with the chance becoming lemons instead of apples.

Since, there will be a newer iphone model and ipad air and mini models. I was wondering since there are few people who are interested in buying the 5th gen. Will there be a price drop? I've been using my IPT4 as a music/video player, web surfing and play games for almost 4 years since it was released. Will there be another price drop this upcoming BER months? I was planning to buy a 64GB model. But the local MAC stores here are already sold out of IPT5 64GB and there wouldn't be a new shipment until further notice. How much is a 64GB in us and how do I ship it plus pay it? I don't have any credit cards but I do use cash.

My country is in the Philippines and in here. The cost of an ipod touch 5th gen 64GB is quite similar to the iPhone 4s 8GB. Wherein the price in here is roughly $500. The reason why I get a huge internal memory is I have tons of movies which had a file size of 2Gb per video. Note that this isn't converted on HD MP4. My friends told me to purchase an apple device outside my country. I don't own a credit card but I have enough money to buy a 64GB model.
Anyway the price of the iphone 5s in here is almost a fortune. roughly $1,138 if you converted it to US. But it doesn't have any carrier yet. The same goes for the ipad air and mini whose price is above $600. I always envy for those guys in US or in Europe who can buy these at not going above the $1,000 margin. The only thing that I can purchase as of now is the IPT5 64GB. How much is the shipment cost + the device model.

Mars, you are not using an appropriate comparison.
The minimum monthly bill for an original iPhone with AT&T is $60. For the exact same plan, you will now pay $70 if it is attached to an iPhone3G. That means, for the same service, you will be paying $240 more over the contract than with another phone. This is clearly a visible part of the subsidy AT&T is applying to the cost of the phone. So even if all we look at is that additional markup, the actual cost of the iPhone3G 8GB is $439, while the iPod touch (8GB) is $299.
This kind of pricing is very appealing, that's why it works so well for the phone companies. I'm not saying don't buy one, just be aware of what the actual cost is. Heck, with that kind of upfront cost even I am interested, and I use no where near enough personal cell minutes a month to make it cost effective.
