IPOD Touch Pwd restore fail?

I have an IPOD touch a child changed the password on and promptly forgot the new password.
I have been thru the Itunes restore process several times and it finally completed the download
on the 3rd attempt. But we are still unable to access the actual IPod and set up a new password
As I understand from the Apple IPOD website once the restore is complete (which  it completed on the 3rd attempt) I should be able to restore the
IPOD to install a new password.
Any suggestions are appreciated with help restoring and recovering a lost password via the restore process.

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
- Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.
- Then try on another computer
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

there's no music in my device (ipod touch) after restoring content because of a software issue. music is available in my laptop's cloud though. how do i restore music in my device?

hi! an error message showed on my device last week and Apple support  helped me restore the software on my device. Syncing went well and all my apps were available after. However, when I looked at my music in my device, it did not contain anything. The songs were in Itunes on my laptop and when I tried to play them they did not play. But, it says music is available for my account in the cloud. When I switched to the cloud, I was able to play my music already. But everytime I synced, the music from the cloud are not transferred to my device. Most of the music that I have are from other sources. How do I download those again to my device? I tried what I did before which was to copy the song from my laptop then edit paste it to iTunes but this did not work like before when automatically it becomes available on my device.
    pls help. thanks!

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next connect to iTunes and update via iTunes. Others have had the same problem.

Yes. It will not effect your other iPod.
However. change the name of the newer iPod if necessary to avoid confusion if the second one is named the same as the first

  • How can i restore my ipod when the restore fails

I have a 32GB iPod touch, and it's been bricked over a year now. Every time I have tried to start it, it gets stuck in boot loop. I've scoured the net for ways to fix this other than the restore function. Every time I try to restore, it fails with a 1611 error code. I had tried to send it in for warranty repair when it was in warranty, and they promptly sent it back to me, accusing me of submerging it in water because the water exposure indicator was activated... and trust me, I baby my gadgets. If anything, it would have been sweat or condensation. But anyway, with ranting aside, how can I fix this? I feel like I am out of options...

  • IPod Touch (2nd generation) fails to sync correctly under Windows 7 SP1.

My 2nd generation iPod touch has started acting strange since I installed the latest service pack to Windows 7. It worked fine prior to this, but since I've updated to service pack 1, I've been unable to sync my applications properly and when I attempt to restore the iPod to the original factory settings I get the following message: "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6)". I've attempted both an update on an existing Windows 7 installation and on a "clean" installation where I install the OS, then the service pack and then the iTunes software (latest version 10.2.0.34). The second method worked to sync my iPod touch intially, but a day later after I downloaded updates to some of my purchased apps, these programs failed to sync to the iPod as they were not "signed". I've authorized and deauthorized my computer as suggested, uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and backed up my iTunes library as suggested. The problem continues and I'm more than a little frustrated by this. The sync fails and I end up with a iPod with NO content on it. Or, when the restore fails I have an iPod that's looking for a connection to iTunes. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • IPod Touch Sync Issues - Fails, then 100% CPU

I've been having a problem where when I try to sync my iPod Touch on my computer, it fails some way through, then the CPU is cranked up to 100% and I have to forcibly restart my computer. Ever since I've installed Windows 7 64-bit I've been having sync issues so I tried restoring it completely and I got myself into this mess. I originally had Vista 32-bit so I'm not sure if it's because of the change. But I have an HP Pavilion dv2615nr. Any help would be greatly appreciated cause I cannot get any music onto my iPod.

    dv2615nr
I believe you've got an nVidia chipset on that model. If so, and you've got over 4 GB of RAM, you'll need to update your Host Controllers.
It's available either as a Microsoft hotfix:
[You encounter problems when you move data over USB from a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer that has an NVIDIA USB EHCI chipset and at least 4GB of RAM|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976972]
... or as a Host Controller update from HP:
[Driver update for Win7 USB issue on nVidia chipset systems now available|http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Lockups-Freezes-Hangs/Driver-update-for- Win7-USB-issue-on-nVidia-chipset-systems-now/m-p/188193]
(Unfortunately, it doesn't always appear on the downloads page for a specific model ... if you upgrade to 7 on some earlier models, they don't always provide all potentially relevant drivers. I couldn't find any Windows 7 drivers available for you model for example.)
To doublecheck to see if your model does have an nVidia chipset, it might be worth posting over at the HP Support forums.

  • IOS 5 Ipod touch wont restore!!

I am trying to upgrade my ipod touch 4th gen (8GB) to IOS 5. Performed a sync first, with backup and then ran the update. All went well until the restore stage which failed with error messages "The ipod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred(1611)". I followed the instructions to restore the device , same error message. Tried resetting both the ipod and my PC, performed a restore but again same error message! Please help as my ipod is a total brick at the minute!

If you are reciving error 1 i think it is then your device is stuck in a recovery loop.
Download firmware umbrella and connect your device to the computer with the program running, you should see a button saying kick out of recovery. After this process try the restore agian.
Also if you have previously used firmware umbrella in the advanced tab make sure the option to update you host files is disabled and click apply as this can lead iTunes to thinking you are trying to jailbreak you device when you are infact not.
