Ipod touch recogniced by iphoto but not by mac and itunes

My ipod touch weirdly doesn't show up on the desktop or on itunes BUT it will always launch iphoto and ask if I want to download the two photos (which I downloaded from iphoto INTO the ipod, go figure). Any ideas? I have been synching my podcasts by using our house's wireless. I had an ipod previously, but copied over this one successfully...so I thought. Help?

You are correct about things not adding up.

Photos copy only one way - iTunes to iPod. Not the other way around. Could it be that your iPod is being treated as camera? You can disable your computer from recognizing the touch as a camera. See this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1501

Wireless syncing is not supported. You can connect to iTunes and download, but you can't sync with your computer wirelessly.
As far as iTunes not recognizing your touch, a piece of software - Apple Mobile Device Services - needs to be operating correctly. See this article for help on troubleshooting problems: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747

  • My iPod Touch connects to windows, but not my mac.

    Hi there,
I have just bought a Macbook Pro, and tried connecting my iPod Touch to it. It didn't work (nothing shows up on the iPod to say it's even connected). So I tried plugging it into my windows7 machine, and it works fine.
I was wondering if anyone knew how I could get it to work under OSX. (I'm a Mac noob )
    Thanks in advance, Daniel.

Did you work through each and every recommend troubleshooting step for this issue outlined in the above article though such as plugging the iPod into a different USB port on your Mac?
If nothing above worked, it's likely a hardware issue with your Mac's USB ports.  I would make an appointment at your local Apple store/Genius Bar and see what they can do for you.

  • IPhone 5 is recognized by iPhoto but not iTunes (OSX 10.6.8, iTunes 10.7, iPhoto 7.1.5)

I am helping a friend with her new iPhone 5.
Issue is that it is recognized by iPhoto but not iTunes.
    iPhone 5 16GB, iOS 6.1.4
    OSX 10.6.8v1.1, iTunes 10.7, iPhoto 7.1.5
Computer: iMac C2D 2.4 GHz (Early 2008)(iMac8,1), 1 GB RAM,
History, recently updated in-place from 10.5.8 Leopard to 10.6.8v1.1 SL, just for the iPhone 5.
Installed iTunes 10.7 (as we do not like interface and loss of separate Playlist view in iTunes 11).
Noted that iPhone 5 stipulates that iTunes 10.7 or higher is required -- So should be OK there.
Initially iPhone was recognized by both iPhoto and iTunes. Then shortly later, iTunes did not see it anymore, was missing from iTunes Devices list.
Called Apple Support, agent walked us through removing iTunes and the iTunes Receipt packages.
Then Reinstalled iTunes 10.7. Ran Permissions Repair. Restarted computer.
Seemed all good, iTunes (10.7) saw and synced and updated the iPhone.
But Now, after two or three weeks, when user plugged in her iphone and ran iTunes, it did not show the iPhone at all, though iPhoto did start up and show pictures.
So the iMac computer sees the iPhone5 well enough to get picture data, but apparently not well enough for iTunes sync.
(she tends to use the wall charger and not plug it into the iMac very much at all).
In all other known respects, both the iPhone5 and the iMac C2D seem to function normally.
    Any thoughts?
I looked at KB article: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/itunes/
And at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591 (iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X).
And finally am thinking we may need to ALSO do the uninstall via: https://support.apple.com/kb/ht1747 (Remove Apple Mobile Device Service).  But I have not visited with here to do that yet.........)
Any thoughts on best way to proceed?
    Thanks.

What error message ar eyou getting. Why do you say it will not allow you to download?
Verify you meet all the system requirements:
Mac computer with an Intel Core processor
OS X version 10.6.8 or later
    400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store

  • IPod is recognized in Windows, but not in iTunes.

Ive followed the support site on what to do if the iPod is recognized in Windows but not iTunes... but to no avail.
ive had a 20GB photo thats been working o.k. (need to send it in) but now neither it nor my new 30GB Video will appear on iTunes... just in windows.... any suggestions? or should i just call up apple...
p.s. i know its not the iPods cause they update fine on my sisters laptop...

Does it say Cannot Mount iPod?
Is the software on your computer up to date? You may want to try reinstalling it as well...
    iTunes
    iPod Updater
    Update iPod's Software
Also, try right clicking on the iPod (in My Computer) and go to format. Does anything happen?

  • My ipod is recognized in windows but not in itunes. I ran the troubleshooter and followed all of the steps to fix it....itunes still does not recognize my ipod.  Anyone know how to fix this?

My ipod is recognized in windows but not in itunes. It shows up in devices and gives me the ok to eject prompt, so I know that the connection is good. I ran the troubleshooter and did all the recommended fixes.  Hours and hours later, I still have the same problem. I uninstalled itunes and all its folders, restarted the apple device services and changed the drive letter. Checked my security settings and everything else I can think of. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Did you remove all Apple related software including QuickTime, Safari, Software Update utility for Windows, etc using the exact instructions in this Apple support document?
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port and not a USB or similar?  Have you tried different cables to help rule out a faulty or damaged cable?
Does it connect to iTunes okay on another PC or Mac?

Yes. get a computer with iTune 10.5 and:
    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other stuff using a third-party program like one of those discussed here.  Most are good for music.  It is harder to find one for other stuff like synced photos.
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right-clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from backup and sync as neccessary.

  • IPOD touch Screen is blacked out. I charges and itunes recognizes it, only the screen remains black. Is there any way to fix this Problem. I have the latest software update and I restored it several times, but screen remains blacked out.

My IPOD touch 4th gen screen does not display.  The software seems to be working and itunes recognizes the device.  I have restored it and reset the IPOD several times but the screen is still black.  What can I do to fix it? your help is very much appreciated. I do not have access to an apple store since I am stationed in Afghanistan.

If you restored to factory defaults/new iPod (you did not say the type of restore your performed) and are still having the problem that indicates a hardware problem. An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order..

  • IPod touch Appears in Windows but not in iTunes

When I plug my 4th gen iPod touch into my computer Windows 8.1 recognizes the iPod but iTunes does not. iTunes no longer gives me the button on the top right hand corner with the option  to sync the iPod. I have never had this problem before and it’s been working fine up till the other day when I went to upload some new podcast.  The following is everything I have done thus far to try and fix the problem.
I have tried uninstalling iTunes, by going to control panel>uninstall program and then selecting iTunes in the list of programs. After uninstalling it I restarted the computer and then re-downloaded iTunes but nothing changed.
I went into iTunes selected Help>Check for updates and another window opened up saying my version of iTunes is up to date. Version 11.1.4
I have tried plugging the iPod cable into multiple USB ports. I have checked to make sure there is nothing inside the USB. I have even tired another iPod cable and still only windows recognizes my iPod.
I have gone to “Services” in windows and restarted both “iPod service” and “apple mobile device” with no change.
I have gone to “Device manger” in windows and tried to updating the driver software on iPod but it says the drivers are up to date.
I’m not really sure what to do at this point? I’m not sure if it’s got something to do with the latest version of iTunes and I should just uninstall it and re load the version I had before 11.1.4? But this is ridiculous, it shouldn’t be this hard to make it work.

  • 5th generation ipod is recognized by computer but not by itunes.

Every time I try to sync, iTunes doesn't respond. I just get the spinning beach ball and I must force quit. The computer recognizes the ipod but not Itunes. Both work fine independent of each other.
