IPod Touch Restore Problems and Other
I connected my sister's ipod to my computer and removed all the songs from it to sync all songs from the library on my computer to it - so that it would only hold one library of songs. It kept getting all kinds of errors and when I looked at the music on it, it had all the songs from the library but very few could actually be played - the rest were gray and looked to be disabled.
I restored the iPod, after waiting for the newest system update to be downloaded, and all seemed to be going well. Now that it's done I see that nothing has changed with anything really being fixed. Actually, now it's almost unusable. My computer said that the iPod could not be restored, although now it has the image of "connect to iTunes" on it. So I connected it to iTunes, and yet it continues to do nothing. My computer recognizes it and says it is connected, yet iTunes continues to do nothing with it.
I am extremely displeased with this matter and don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Any help or solutions would be helpful.

- Try another cable
- Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

i am trying to restore my ipod after the ios 4 update but it freezes a quarter of the way through.

I am now attempting to restore the iPod. I have tried on my XP machine, an iMac and a Vista machine. It always stalls in the same spot, about a quarter of the way through "Restoring iPod software". I called Apple and was told this process could take up to 48 hours? That seems ridiculous. It has been "stalled" now for 7 hours - no progress no error message.

hey! need help, i just got an ipod touch...new...sealed and everything...well i just conected it to my computer and it appears that there's a software upgrade. ok, i upgraded it and when it finished it appears an error message...it says UNKOWN ERROR...then it tells me to restore my ipod but in the restoring process, before finishing, appears again an error message that says that had occured an error during restoration and the ipod wasn't restored...an unknown error again...
what happened!?I had the same prob, called Apple. They told me to uninstall iTunes, Quicktime, and Apple Mobile Device, then go to website and redownload iTunes. I then reconnected my ipod and it worked. There are some articles on how to uninstall, try http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923

Ipod touch restore problem *URGENT PLEASE HELP*
Ok well I just inherited an Ipod touch from my friend who upgraded to a iPhone and it has a lock code, which I don't know. I called up my friend and asked him the code, he didn't know it of course... so i just guessed passwords and it said it was locked, I only have one more try until it locks permanently. So, I tried resetting it and it didn,t work. so i put it in recovery mode and it was gonna be ok, but my problem is I have slow dial-up internet and cannot re-download the software because my internet turns off randomly and it takes about 35 hours straight to download the 280MB, my other problem is that every time the download is disrupted, what itunes has already downloaded deletes itself and I have to start over from zero. I cannot fully download the software and have no access to hi-speed internet, I need a solution please otherwise im sitting here with a $300 piece of junk.
Just bring it over to your friends house and have him reset it for you. Then bring it to your house to put your music on it.
It is as simple as that. Too bad you have dial-up still. I use broadband and it is very fast.

My iPod touch is off and wont turn on because it has the itunes logo and a usb pointing to it, so when i looked it up online, it says i have to restore it but i don't want to because i don't want to lose all my pictures. What can I do?

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer

Try what you have not tried so far. You may have tried all and the Apple store maybe in order.

I HAVE IPOD TOUCH MODEL A1421 AND IT WILL NOT RESTORE AND IS STUCK IN RESTORE MODE. DOES NOT RESTORE WHEN ATTEMPTING THROUGH ITUNES. PLEASE HELP!

I got an iPod touch 1st generation and downloaded loads of apps, some paid some free. A few weeks ago I restored the iPod touch and when I went to download apps that I had already owned it said I needed a newer iOS. It says I need iOS 4.3 and I have iOS 4.2.1 and when i tried to update it says I have no software updates.
Do you have any of those apps saved on your computer, in iTunes?
It is true that your 1st generation iPad is already now running the highest version of iOS it can. It cannot be updated further. If the developer has pulled the older versions of their apps and now only offers versions requiring iOS 5 or 6 then you will not be able to run those apps any longer (unless you kept backup copies of the older versions in iTunes on your computer).
Developers determine what version(s) of their apps are in the App Store. As many have updated their apps to take advantage of the enhancements in iOS 6 , they've pulled their older versions and no longer support them. -
I tried to restore my ipod touch 2nd generation and now it won't sync to itunes. On the screen is the USB end of the cord and the iTunes logo over it.
I have turned it off and on, held the off button down and the select button down but it still comes up with that picture on the screen. Have I broken it?
Please help.
MimiIt means the device is in recovery mode. You'll need to reconnect it to iTunes and restore it again.
You may need to connect it in recovery mode manually using the instructions in this Apple support document.

I tried to update my ipod touch 4 gen and it automatically shutoff and said connect to itunes on the screen. I did. it says it found an error restoring ipod, what do i do now to resttore my ipod back to working and functioning condition?

Has it been disabled via Settings -> General -> Restrictions?
I assume you have checked other pages of apps by swiping to the left from the home screen?
