IPod Touch - Restrictions Four Digit Passcode - Failed Passcode Attempts?

I've have forgotten the restrictions four-digit passcode I set up on my iPod Touch. I've have so far entered the wrong passcode 11 times. I now have to wait one hour between each attempt.
Is there a limit to the number of attempts permitted?

There is a setting you can put on the Touch to erase the data after 10 failed passcode attempts. If you're sure you tried 11 times and your Touch did not erase, you must not have enabled that option.

  • IPod rejected my four-digit passcode. Is this a glitch?

My 2nd Generation iPod Touch rejected my four digit passcode, under Restrictions, I had set up for my kids, so they don't download ceratin stuff. . Is this a glitch? Four digit passcode was never changed. I tried to reboot, and four-digit passcode still doesn't work.

If you do not know the Restrictions passcode, your only option is to restore the iPod to factory defaults via iTunes as restoring from backup would only restore the Restrictions passcode.

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

  • I don't have access to a computer and so,without physically  attaching my iPod touch to PC devices, can you manually restore an apple iPod touch, restrictions passcode online to iTunes and restore it to store purchased factory settings?

i don't have access to a computer and so,without physically  attaching my iPod touch to PC devices, can you manually restore an apple iPod touch, restrictions passcode online to iTunes and restore it to store purchased factory settings?

Sorry but no. The only way to restore an iPod to factory settings is through iTunes on a computer. You will need to get access to a computer somehow. If you can get to an Apple Store, they can probably help you.

  • HT1212 I do not know my four digit passcode for my iphone 5. I just upgraded to iOS7. How do I unlock my phone? My phone is disabled because of failed attempts.

My iphone 5 is disabled due to too many attempts to unlock four digit passcode. I upgraded to iOS7 last night and it asked for a passcode this morning. I do not ever remember assigning a passcode. How do I get this phone disabled and figure out what my passcode is?

  • My ipod touch set its own passcode?!

I've had my itouch for about a year (it came with the mac- back to school deal). Last night, I plugged it into my ihome and charged it over night and then left it there pretty much all day today. Then, in the late afternoon or so I took it off and tried to turn it on but instead of letting me in without a passcode (I had previously turned off my four digit passcode) it shows up with a fancy keyboard and asks for a passcode. I put in my four-digit (it didn't work) and now I have no idea what to do! I know no one stole it and changed the passcode and I didn't forget it- my itouch just suddenly locked on me.
I plugged it into my itunes but that didn't help at all, it just synced it. I also held down the button on the top to reset it but it's still locked. I know you can restore it to its original settings but that will delete everything and I don't want to lose all the information in my apps as well as my contacts.
If this has happened to anyone else (I know at least it has to one person- yahoo answers) and they have figured out what is wrong, please let me know!! Thanks!

There is no other way than connecting in recovery mode to your computer, shown here iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to restore If you're lucky, your last backup does not contain the passcode and you will be able to restore your data and settings without a problem. Your contacts should also be part of the backup of your Mac, if you use Time Machine you can easily restore one of the older iphone backups. More info here: iPhone and iPod touch: About backups
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone and iPod touch software.
If the issue continues after updating and restoring your device, refer to this document.

  • Where do I find the four digit passcode for the ipad?

I have been attempting to set up my ipad.  I am now getting a screen where I need to enter a four digit passcode.  Where do I find the passcode?  The network key on the internet box is ten digits.  The cable technician used this ten digit number when he installed my cable.  Does this have anything to do with passcode?

You may have to do this several times.
Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom

  • My iPod Touch keeps disabling my passcode.  I have typed the correct passcode but it won't accept it.

My iPOD touch keeps disabling my passcode.  I have typed the correct passcode but it won't take.  It took it numerous times earlier in the day.

Maybe at one point, you may have miss typed the code when setting up the code. You'll have to factory reset your iTouch.
    Try restoring in Recovery Mode:

    If unsuccessful, try DFU mode:

After fully restored, set up with one of your back ups:

How to unlock my ipod touch 4 when forgotten passcode ?

You'll need to connect it to the iTunes library you normally sync it with and restore it.  If iTunes asks you for this passcode before it will let you proceed, connect the iPod to iTunes in recovery mode instead using the instructions in this Apple support document.

how do you reset my ipod touch..daughter try passcode too many times now its disabled

    Passcode Locked or Disabled
If nothing else will let you unlock the device - after so many unsuccessful attempts will be locked out - You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the Device.
    Instructions can be found here.
