IPod Touch's Supported Bluetooth Profiles?

After purchasing a set of Motorola S305 wireless Bluetooth head phones, I discovered that only a couple of the on-phone controls worked with my new iPod!
The volume & the pause/ play work fine but the forward/back functions are useless. Apparently all bluetooth gadgets aren't on the same wavelenght (literally).
Just which Bluetooth profiles does the new iPod 3rd gen have then? Does Apple have a dedicated set of wireless headphones? Is there a good quality inexpensive set out there?

  • Why won't my brand-new iPod Touch connect via BlueTooth in my Volvo?  My old one did!

Very interesting, but frustrating, too.  The iPod shows (in Settings): Bluetooth On; devices--cell phone (not paired); MacBook (not paired). Nothing about the car.  In the car, it wants me to punch in a four-digit code.  HOW?  Where?
This is crazy because my old iPod does this.
    Anyone have a clue?

The iPod will not pair with a computer. The iPod will only pair with yur car is your car supports one of the BT profiles that is supported by the iPod

Does the manufacturer of the car system say it will work with your model iPod and its iOS?

  • Did ipod touch 4g supports ios 7

my question is that willl  ipod touch 4g supports ios 4

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
iOS 7 will be compatible with the 5th generation iPod touch but not with the 4th generation one. The 4th generation iPod touch comes with 256 MB of RAM, which isn't enough for iOS 7. See > http://www.apple.com/ios/ios7

  • Ipod Touch 4G GPS Bluetooth Connection

I have bought the TomTom Application but not the cradle from from TomTom, but I do have a Bluetooth GPS device that I have used on my Winmobile 5 device. I can also connect this device to my Blackberry and my Windows7 machine but the Ipod doesnt see it.
Does anyone know if I need to buy a BT stack for the Ipod ?   Or have any suggestions...

Unless you can find an app that is compatible with your BT GPS you are out of luck.  The iPod supports the following BT profiles.

MFi program will support my SPP profile or they will help to make  my device to support the iOS defined profiles.

Apple has not released an iOS update for the 2G iPod in over two years so I doubt there will be any more updates.

  • Voice memo playback low volume, ipod touch 4th gen bluetooth

After recording a voice memo on my ipod touch 4th gen.  I play it back on my bluetooth JBL flip.  Now when I playback sound levels are sometimes extremely quiet, and other times play at normal volume.  Volume on Ipod touch and JBL flip will be maxed out and still volume playback are extremely quiet.  I have tried turning off and on Ipod and not found anything work consistently at solving this issue.

Do you have a Phone? In your case i would save some money for an iPhone. Like i am doing now - i also got a 4G iPod.
Anyways if you really wanna go for another iPod, take the 5G now. The 5G is a big update from the 4G and Apple released it last year, so i think that the 6G will come in 2014.

  • Does the original ipod touch not support apps or books?

i've restarted, checked for updates, and restored, yet i can't get my apps or books onto my device. it's a first generation, but i know nothing about the operating system. any suggestions?

You need to be running iOS 2 or later in order to install Apps.  Since you are only running iOS 1.x you likely have a 1G iPod Touch. See this article about purchasing the 3.1 update.

  • Ipod touch freezing when bluetooth is off, ipod touch freezing when bluetooth is off

when bluetooth is on it never freezes on wakeup. why?
iOS 5.1.1 on a replaced ipod touch

    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order
