Ipod Touch Screen 99% Unresponsive

Hi everybody, I've been trying for the longest time to fix my itouch (to no avail). I've tried restoring several times, jailbreaking different firmwares, and resetting every way I can numerous times. So I decided to post on a forum to see if someone could help me. The touch screen is 99% unresponsive. The 1% it works is when it's seconds from dying. I've looked up similar problems people have had with their itouch. One person had just a burnt resistor that was causing the same problem. But I opened it up to find nothing burnt or seeming to be out of place. It looks like it's been repaired a few times (I bought it off of Ebay), because it's missing a few screws on the inside, and has a replacement battery. I thought it was a broken digitizer, but why would it work when it's about to die? Any thoughts?

Google "iPod touch repair" and find out what it is going to cost to get it repaired. I think you will wind up buying a new one. I would stay away from used iPods on e-Bay as a general rule.

  • My iPod Touch screen is unresponsive and doesnt want to work anymore.

i have an iPod Touch 3rd Gen. It has the 5.0.1. update! Right now when i touch to try and slide open it doesnt follow my finger and its really upsetting.
    Yes i have...
washed my hands to make sure no water or grease or anything is on it
wiped the screen with a dry cloth
RESTORED IT TI FACTORY SETTINGS, BASICALLY MAKING IT A NEW iPod
and still NOTHING! It just sits there and not even let me use it.
And when i press the home and power button for a reboot it then tells me to plug it into iTunes and when i do it acts fine but 30 minutes later IT DOES IT AGAIN!!!!!!!
    Help, PLEASE?????

When restoring to factory defaults/new iPod does not solve the problem it is likely due to a hardware problem. Then an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iPod Touch 3rd Gen is having problems with the touch screen being unresponsive, too responsive, freezing and constantly resizing. Is this a common problem? Is there a fix?

My iPod Touch (3rd Gen) is having problems with the touch screen being unresponsive, too responsive, freezing and constantly resizing. It varies between not responding when I tap the screen and acting as if I double-tap or tap and hold when I tap. Every so often it freezes for a minute or so and then comes back. The scren is constantly changing sizes too such that I often can't see most of the top status bar or other edges. This makes typing almost impossible, ruins most games and generally makes everything difficult, but otherwise the iPod is working correctly. Powering off, shutting down apps, letting it sit have not worked. This has happened once before months ago, but the issue resolved itself somehow. Is this a common problem? Is there a fix?

    Try this for the freezing

Or if they don't work put it into recovery mode

    Then restore

  • What can I do if my recently bought iPod touch 5th generation's touch screen is unresponsive at times?

I've had my ipod for about a week and off and on throughout the day the touch screen is unresponsive. I've restarted it several times and it does no good. Help!

    Just the standard fixes:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • How can I fix my non responsive ipod touch screen?

The screen shows the "connect to itunes" logo, and I do. But since it has a passcode on it, It won't connect to itunes and I can't put the passcode in because the touch screen is unresponsive. I've tried resetting multiple times and that has done nothing.

Place the iPod in recovery mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTuns. For recovery mode:

  • My ipod touch screen is broken and whenever i press the lock screen button, the screen is white, what can i do to fix this?

so my ipod touch screen is broken, and whenver i try to unlock the ipod screen, all that i can see is the top right hand corner of my ipod, and the rest is all whited out. Also, the jack which support the headphones to stay in place, one of the balls in the jack is pushed in which causes the headphones and stereo jack to slip all the time. I also have a problem which is when i try to sync my ipod to itunes. Last time i did it(which was 4 years ago), i synced my ipod and i started out with 225 songs, after the syncing process was complete, i ended up with 119 songs. I'm afraid to resync my ipod or back up my ipod to a computer because i dont want to lose the wonderful collection of 589 songs i have now. I'd really appreciate it if i got some feedback. Thanks.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • My iPod touch screen went fuzzy with pink and white stripes

Hello! I really appreciate if anyone would tell me what's wrong with my iPod touch.
I have been using my iPod touch for less than a year, and honestly, I have quite a bad habit: I always use it for playing games. And sometimes, I even use it while it is charging. Usually it's fine, nothing went wrong, so I keep doing the same thing sometimes.
one day, I'm visiting my relative and tried to charge my iPod. Since my iPod doesn't have an adaptor, I usually charge it using my laptop (the seller told me to charge it in a laptop/computer). One day, I borrowed my cousin's laptop to charge my iPod, but she only gave me an adaptor (not made for iPod or any apple products, but it fits so I thought it's okay). But the next day, I found out that my iPod went off by itself and I know that my battery isn't low.
I Tried to charge it using my laptop at home, but it still went off! Also, it went normal in my laptop (the iTunes appeared automatically, as a sign that my iPod is charging). So, I tried to restore it and I worked (at least I thought so), until I saw my screen went fuzzy (pink and white stripes). So, almost everyday I turn off my iPod, turn it on again, wait for a while, then use it normally. Usually it lasts 'normal' for hours, but it will still be error as usual.
    So, my question is:
What makes my iPod touch screen went fuzzy?
Is it because I used it while charging?
Is it because I charged it with an adaptor that is not made for Apple products?
please help me, I don't know what else to do! I have restored it, I didn't download many applications like I used to before, and I left it alone when I was charging (I didn't play it while it's charging any more), and I even didn't turn on the Wi-Fi if I'm not using it (I almost NEVER turn off the Wi-Fi before my iPod touch went error)
    Thank you for answering..

  • My iPod Touch 4g is unresponsive to touch in some areas...almost unusable now, and not under warranty.

This iPod is not under warranty anymore, unfortunately, but I've noticed that it has had a few problems since I got it, but it was never this bad until just recently. The iPod touch screen will not respond to touch in a vertical row  on the left side of the screen, and horizontal in random area of the bottom screen, which is hindering me from typing or playing apps and even scrolling through my music. I've tried this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1827, I've also restored, restarted, all kinds of things. This device has never been jailbroken, had waterdamage, or anything (it's also running the latest hardware). The iPod used to do this, but I'd reset it several times and it'd be fine, but just recently it won't fix anymore. It also is very erratic and touches the "s" key for example, even though I'm actually touching the "m" key, which are very far away from each other. Also, sometimes if I unlock it (which takes multiple tries since not of that row works) and leave it there, it will starts doing it's own thing and opening random apps and such. I'm thinking of taking it to the apple store (the only reason I haven't is because of many bad reviews online for that store), but I'm afraid they are going to want to charge me for half of what I paid for it. Any suggestions? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

all good now problem solved never mind
