IPod Touch screen unresponsive

Okay, so my iPod Touch has become increasingly messed up over the last week and I was curious if I may be screwed here: it started with just that simple problem where the volume changes on its own, so I did a restart and it seemed to work fine for a few days except response time for loading songs/apps seemed slower and slower.
Then, the volume problem was back but the volume buttons wouldn't work and the screen constantly had the volume display and "headphones" on it. iTunes told me it was not able to read it or sync. Restarts didn't work, so I restored it to factory settings and it again seemed to work fine.
A few days later, the same problems came back, so I tried to restore it again--one problem, though: after restoring and going into the iPod menu to do set up, I found the entire touchscreen does not respond. From what I've seen Googling and on here, water/moisture damage is what's possibly effecting it, so I tried the "rice trick" (something that worked for a phone before) but after four days it's still unresponsive and at the "slide to unlock" screen.
Am I out of hope here? If I take it to an Apple Store to get it repaired, what's the expected cost for something like that?

Apple does not repair your iPod. They will exchange it for a refurbished one for this price.

  • 5th Generation 16gb IPod Touch screen unresponsive

I have a 5th Generation 16gb IPod touch and the screen became unresponsive just today. Just a couple minute after using it just fine, the screen became unresponsive to anything, not swiping, tapping, sliding... nothing. The screen turns on and off, and the Sleep/Wake button works. So does the home screeen. But i cant swipe to unlock it or swipe to turn it off.i did not drop it, get it wet, press to hard on it, i was holding it and taking a picture. then pressed the Sleep/Wake button and then turned it on a couple minutes later and the screen was unresponsive. I dont have any money to get a new one, and i dont have the warranty for it. i propbobly might take it to the apple store to get it checked out. one of my friends said that it has three layers a light layer and other one. she said the light layer got unwired or something and the apple store got it fixed. I cannot pay too much for it and definately will be getting a screenprotecter and cas e for it IFF it gets fixed. my other ipod had a similar problem, and i cant offord to lose another one.
Any help would be VERY appreaciated

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Touch screen unresponsive on right side for a month now - help

Things like the P, O, L, backspace, alphabet scroll in music and the 'add new' in anything does not work. I've tried turning it off and on but I don't want to restore unless I know (or at least expect) it will work.
Does anyone know how to fix this, or where else I can go to get help, there are a lot of phone numbers on this website and living in Germany but not speaking German makes it hard to get information.
    Thanks.

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.  If these have been tried to no avail then you have a hardware problem.  Your options are:
    1. Do nothing
    2. Buy a different type of phone
    3.  Pay for an out of warranty exchange
    4.  Find a 3rd party repair shop near you and see what they say.
    Your choice.

  • My ipod touch screen is broken and whenever i press the lock screen button, the screen is white, what can i do to fix this?

so my ipod touch screen is broken, and whenver i try to unlock the ipod screen, all that i can see is the top right hand corner of my ipod, and the rest is all whited out. Also, the jack which support the headphones to stay in place, one of the balls in the jack is pushed in which causes the headphones and stereo jack to slip all the time. I also have a problem which is when i try to sync my ipod to itunes. Last time i did it(which was 4 years ago), i synced my ipod and i started out with 225 songs, after the syncing process was complete, i ended up with 119 songs. I'm afraid to resync my ipod or back up my ipod to a computer because i dont want to lose the wonderful collection of 589 songs i have now. I'd really appreciate it if i got some feedback. Thanks.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • My iPod touch screen went fuzzy with pink and white stripes

Hello! I really appreciate if anyone would tell me what's wrong with my iPod touch.
I have been using my iPod touch for less than a year, and honestly, I have quite a bad habit: I always use it for playing games. And sometimes, I even use it while it is charging. Usually it's fine, nothing went wrong, so I keep doing the same thing sometimes.
one day, I'm visiting my relative and tried to charge my iPod. Since my iPod doesn't have an adaptor, I usually charge it using my laptop (the seller told me to charge it in a laptop/computer). One day, I borrowed my cousin's laptop to charge my iPod, but she only gave me an adaptor (not made for iPod or any apple products, but it fits so I thought it's okay). But the next day, I found out that my iPod went off by itself and I know that my battery isn't low.
I Tried to charge it using my laptop at home, but it still went off! Also, it went normal in my laptop (the iTunes appeared automatically, as a sign that my iPod is charging). So, I tried to restore it and I worked (at least I thought so), until I saw my screen went fuzzy (pink and white stripes). So, almost everyday I turn off my iPod, turn it on again, wait for a while, then use it normally. Usually it lasts 'normal' for hours, but it will still be error as usual.
    So, my question is:
What makes my iPod touch screen went fuzzy?
Is it because I used it while charging?
Is it because I charged it with an adaptor that is not made for Apple products?
please help me, I don't know what else to do! I have restored it, I didn't download many applications like I used to before, and I left it alone when I was charging (I didn't play it while it's charging any more), and I even didn't turn on the Wi-Fi if I'm not using it (I almost NEVER turn off the Wi-Fi before my iPod touch went error)
    Thank you for answering..

  • HT201412 Ipod touch screen not responding. How do i fix it?

My ipod touch screen often stops working or just wont respond to my touch. When i shut it off and try to get back on it wont respond and i will half to wait till it decides to work which can take up to 2 hours. How do i get it to work faster?

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5s. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.
