Ipod Touch Screen wont time out?

So about two days ago I noticed that my ipod's screen wont time out and turn off, if I for example decide to manually change a song rather then skip it from my headphones, it stays on, so i have to manually turn of the screen while I'm playing music..I don't know why I haven't changed any settings or droped it nor has any water gone in it. Is this normal? I mean its not too much of a problem but since I do use it most of the day at work it makes my battery run out much faster. Any help is much appreciated.

It might be one of two things.
I know you said you didn't change any thing but,
Check under settings, general, and autolock it might be on 'Never' change that
Or i might be misunderstanding.
You might be use a stereo base and i don't know but if you are, the ipod, if on the 'Now Playing' page is up, will not go to sleep automatically

the other day when i woke up my iPod touch screen was off so i tried to turn it on but i would not come on.then i tried to charge it,it will hook up to the computer but the screen still wont turn on. what should i do??

    Try:

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My IPOD touch 4th gen screen does not display.  The software seems to be working and itunes recognizes the device.  I have restored it and reset the IPOD several times but the screen is still black.  What can I do to fix it? your help is very much appreciated. I do not have access to an apple store since I am stationed in Afghanistan.

If you restored to factory defaults/new iPod (you did not say the type of restore your performed) and are still having the problem that indicates a hardware problem. An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order..

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • 'Dead' spot on ipod touch screen - 103 days out of warranty - any ideas?

There is a section of the screen that is 'dead' and it is where the cancel & ok buttons are - this means that I can't play games properly and can't download apps etc as I can't touch ok. I went to the genius bar and they said it was 103 days out of warranty so buy a new one or live with it! Have done the 5 Rs, no joy so it is hardware. Surely it is reasonable to expect that a product doesn't break down in this way after just 18 months? Is there any consumer legislation that can help me get it fixed / replaced? Thanks for any help.

I feel your pain. My 1st generation Touch lost Wi-Fi three weeks after the warranty expired. Apple said, "hardware failure" and told me they'd replace it with the same model for $129 or I could buy a new one. It cost $400 when new! I think it should last longer than a year and three weeks. I purchased the Touch on a credit card that has an extended warranty program. I'm working with the credit card company to replace the failed iPod.

  • Screen wont time out

My screen won't go off.....doesnt matter if I press the button to turn it off or if i set the display on screen timeout.  It still won't go off........WTH!!!!!!  Does anyone know a fix for this?   This is something that started recently like the last week.  HELP!!!!!!

        Hello lgibson63390,
I'd like to help bring some darkness into your life, in a good way!  Had you recently installed any new application when this started?  I would suggest running the device in Safe Mode to see if an application is affecting the screen backlight.  Here is a link to activate Safe Mode http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=42081 If Safe Mode is successful you will then need to start deleting apps one by one to see which is the cause.
Please keep me updated on the status as I would be happy to help further.
    Thank You,

  • My iPod touch screen has blacked out on me and i cannot unlock it or anything and if i try to restore it or resync it still stays black. What do i do?

    Please help

Is it still charging? If yes, let it charge for about 10min, then connect in recovery mode, explained in this article:
iOS: Unable to update or restore
If this is not working, or the iPod does not charge anymore, you'll have to get it serviced or looked at by visiting an Apple Store next to you:
