Ipod touch security settings

Hi, can anyone help me?
I want to know what security settings are in-built to Safari when I use it to access the internet. Are there any? Or am I reliant on security within my wi-fi network, if any?

For using the safari app on the touch..you are secure for certain websites that offer protection...often indicated by a little lock in the address bar.
If your home wifi network is WEP protected then your network is secure from others using your home network than just you and those that know the password.
If you use any public wifi network that is not password protected then you are vulnerable. There are no security settings in the safari app on the touch that you can change or alter. Your security for the touch is dictated b the type of network you use and whether its protected or not.And by the secure websites you visit like email and such

As far as I'm aware you're referring to the passcode. It seems that you've forgot the passcode that you've inserted, so your best bet is to connect your iPod to iTunes and have it restored back to factory settings. You'll be able to find the restore button by clicking on your iPod's name that's located right below the "Device's Tab."

You can try restarting or restoring the iPod touch.
To restart the iPod touch hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears> then slide to turn off> and turn the iPod back on by pressing the Sleep/Wake again, as described on page 36 of the iPod touch 3.0 User Guide.

  • HT5622 I have changed my appleID and password through my laptop.  I have then changed it on my iPod Touch in settings. When I try to update my apps on the ipod touch it keeps throwing up the old appleID.  How can I get the iPod Touch to use the new ID?

I have changed my appleID and password through my laptop. I have then changed them in my iPod touch settings in "iTunes & App stores" When I try to update my apps it fails because it wishes to continue to use the previous ID.  What do I have to do to make it accept the new ID?

    Also
If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

  • Restored iPod touch through Settings.app and now it's stuck at logo loading

My computer was being used and I wanted to restore my iPod touch 2G, so I went into the Settings and did the clear everything off the iPod and now it's been at the Apple logo with the white loading ring for half an hour. It's just frozen there. I tried to put it into DFU mode, but my computer finds it as an unknown hardware and not Apple Recovery Device. I just decided to upgrade to 3.0 and I knew something was going to happen, but I did it anyway. Do I wait longer? I doubt it's fryed, but I don't know. Thanks for any help.

I am having the same troubles with mine. i HAVE let it doe, and it just goes back to the same loading screen. the restore of the ipod (from the 'settings') was not interrupted, so i dont think anything became corrupt..

  • How do I transfer husband's iPod Touch apps, settings, contacts, music to my old iPhone 3gs

I have an iPhone 3GS and have upgraded to a 4--my husband wants to use it as an iPod Touch. How do I get his stuff (music, contacts, notes, mail, etc. that is backed up both on iCloud and iTunes from his iPod Touch) to the 3GS?
We each have our own iTunes account and I've backed up everything to his iTunes and to his iCloud...I have erased the iPhone tried setting it up for him as an iPod Touch.  When prompted to backup, I selected "backup from iTunes"--it says the device can not be recognized. The 3GS is running the most current iOs.

    Okay...
I finally broke down and bought an portable player, and 32gb iPod touch. I am going to be running my Klipsch Image One Headphones with this unit... are there any setting I can use or anything I can do to the downloads/files I am goign to transfer from my computer to make the sound better?
    faster/deeper sample rate?
    save files as what?
    anything at all?
I am not concerned with file size, just sound quality
    thanks in advance

If this is music you have already ripped into your computer, probably not, but using Klipsch headphones will get the best out of that music.
For any music you're going to buy in the future, it depends on what is available. If you're buying digital files, and there is a choice of bit rates, pay for the highest bit rate. The Apple Store music purchases are (as far as I know) now in MPEG-4 AAC format, which will not always play on other makes of player. MP3 is the universal format, used by all players, although some cannot play the highest bit rate files. If you're ripping a CD, then you have a lot of choice and I believe (from what people say on these forums) that the best one is probably Apple Lossless.
In the end, this will come down to your personal preference, according to how much trade-off you want to make; the highest bit rate will (usually) create the largest file size which will significantly reduce how many songs you can get on the Touch. That may become an issue as your music collection grows. However, if you cannot hear the difference between the highest bit rate and one of the lower ones, there will be little point in using the higher one. One method to help you decide is to import the same song in different formats and bit rates until you find one your happy with.
I use Bose on-ear headphones, Klipsch in-ear headphones and the Klipsch RoomGroove and I typically use *iTunes plus* (AAC) at 256kbps for my music. You may not be happy with that - it really is down to you. Perhaps my age-related hearing loss means that I'm happy with my choice, you may not be if you're younger and still have full frequency hearing. (Mmmm! Age-related hearing loss, there's something to look forward to - not!)
While typing this, I had a check on the Klipsch website and found this http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/support/how-to-buy-audio/digital-dish-details/ which should help you make a decision, especially paragraph four, beginning "If you’re into serious listening..."
Note what the article points out about certain file formats only working on Apple products. Also, note that you cannot add album artwork to a WAV file.
    Good listening.

  • Ipod Touch play settings

Lets say I'm playing songs on my touch from my playlist and I decide to stop and shut my ipod Touch down. Later I turn it back on and go to play, it starts from the beginning of the playlist again. How can I make it continue where it left off on the playlist?

    Hi gkar,
Well you don't have to shut your iPod completely down after using the iPod. Every time you do that, you won't be able to continue where you stopped.
In this situations, I would recommend you to put your iPod only in sleep mode by pressing the sleep/wake button. I assure that you won't lose battery so quickly. Better, I have the iPod Touch for 3 months and I think I only shut it completely down, maybe one or two times.
    Hope this helps!

  • IPod touch settings question

I bought my son an iPod touch 5th generation. When I go to settings the title bar says icloud. My iphone, my wife's iphone, and my other son's iPod touch says settings. Can someone help explain why this is?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Another New IPod Touch Owner with Wi-fi Problems

Another New IPod Touch Owner with Wi-fi Problems.
I have been working at this for about 4 hours now with no success and I am getting pretty frustrated, so if it show up in my typing please ignore it. I just don't understand why these multi-million dollar companies can't write a manual or put up a web site that can actually help someone with a problem.
    Ok, venting aside.
I am running a gateway computer.
    Operating System = XP
    Router = Linksys WRT54G
I have two other computers that are working fine with the existing wireless net work and have been for some time.
I'm pretty good with my computer but haven't touched my router since initial set-up and all that was done was a basic set up.
My I-pod is searching for a network and I'm three feet away from it but it doesn't find it.
I printed out my wireless setting. I presume SSID name equals the name box on the ipod-touch
    Security = WEP
What seems to be kicking my A$$ is the password. The route setting have never been changed so I would pesume the password should be the default "admin" which I put in (JOIN) and get the "Could not find network" screen
So, I have perused this message board trying to discover and answer to mine, and and apparently many others question with no definitive results.
So I guess what I and everybody else needs is a step by step how to guide on how to discover the info needed and enter in what we need to make this work.
Thanks in advance to anybody that can actually help with this issue. A step by step do this would be nice.

Thank you Terpfen for replying, and please excuse my ill temper earlier. I've calmed down some now.
Step: 1 followed step one previously, Main screen, settings, Wi-Fi. Also set power down to 5 min to give I-Pod plenty of time to find network.
    Wi-Fi Network Screen.
    Wi-Fi ON
Choose a Network (searching indicator) symbol spinning.
    Other ...
    Ask to Join Networks ON
At this point the I-pod does not find any networks available. The indicator just spins but never returns any results. I am 3 feet for my WRT54G router.
Hence the easy connect isn't connecting.
The next step. is to manually set-up the connection.
    Main screen, setting, Wi-Fi, Other.
press "Other" which brings up two fields
    Name __________
    Security ___________
First Question? Which Name are they looking for. when I went to my router 192.168.1.1 It has the name linksys. However, when I go to my Wireless Network setting it has the name * ???? * which is different than Linksys router.
Now, since one of the goals here is file sharing I presume I should be using the Wireless Network settings name. (which I have tried.)
Next is security, Wireless Network setting indicate setting for WEP Once this is selected you then back-up to the "Enter Network Setting Screen" and you now have a password line added.
Now I have never set a password for the router so the password for the router is the default Password "admin" And I don't recall ever setting a password for my network setting. But, I only use about three different passwords and a cycled through them still with no success.
So, I need some expert advise on how and where to find the info to input into the required field to work or what I need to reset in my router to make this work.
Thanks again for anyone who has constructive input to resolve my and probably many other peoples issues with this problem.

  • New iPod Touch 4th gen. cannot connect to home wi-fi network

When I launch wi-fi on my new iPod Touch 4th gen. my home network's name is displayed, but after entering my password the iPod is unable to connect - the wheel to the left of the network name just keeps spinning.   The network still functions properly for all my other devices (MacBook, 2nd gen. iPod Touch, wireless printer and my wife's PC) and the new iPod Touch did connect to the network in the Apple Store when I visited yesterday.   I know the password I enetered for my home network is correct because I've checked it in my keychain, and also the iPod did not inform me that it was the wrong password for that network - as it does if I enter another password.
I have followed the advice given to others - unplugging the Time Capsule and leaving it for 5 minutes, checking that all my software and firmware is up to date, 'forgetting' the network on my new iPod then searching for it again, and have completely restored the iPod - but it still cannot connect to my network.   If my network is functioning properly, and my new iPod was capable of joining the Apple Store's network yesterday, and I am sure that I am entering the correct password, it seems to me that my problem must be due to some network setting that is refusing to allow a new device to connect.   I can't find where that setting might be - can anyone advise?

depending on what router but hopefully all routers came to this default address....
    192.168.1.1/Wireless_MAC.asp
    from
    >Setup of the Basic Setup you goto
    >Wireless
    >WirelessMacFilter
also had an idea when i wanna make sure im typing the right one, i would do is tap each letter/# by 1, as in,
    (e.q.)
here's my ipod 4 and my ipod 2, the pswd is 123456
    ipod 4, i press 1
    ipod 2, i press 1
    ipod 4, i press 2
    ipod 2, i press 2
and so on till i reach both of them to 6 (1by1) to make sure i get it in there right. saw this on another wall it might depends on what channel your using, but i dont rly think that matters bc i have mine on auto and nvr had a problem.
i would do this even thou it may sound crazy to others....if i were you this is what i would do
    on your ipod 2Gen
    >Safari
    >address to 192.168.1.1/WL_WPATable.asp
    -(wireless security settings for passcode)
    >tap the box for the password, whatever ur security is i would copy
    -IF WEP
-copy phrase key and Key 1
    -IF WPA
    -copy phrase key
    >open Notepad
    >under iCloud account Notepad
    >Paste the Key
    >either on your pc/mac or your 2nd Gen, go back to
    >192.168.1.1/WL_WPATable.asp
    >change your Security Mode to Disable
    >goto your 4 Gen iPod Touch
    >goto settings and connect to it, if pswd is still in it then tap forget this network and reconnect to it
-once connected and got IP adresses
    >goto Notpad under iCloud
-you should have obtained your recent icloud msgs included the key you pasted
    -once obtained
    >gobk to pc/mac or ipod 2nd gen and re enabled the security and re-paste the key in
-once router adjusted try to connect to it
    >1st do your 2nd gen and forget this network reconnect to it and repaste the key
    >2nd goto ur 4rth gen from your notes, highlight the key in ur notpad and tap copy and forget this network reconnect to it and paste the key.
this should work bc i did it myself when i couldnt get connected bc thats almost the same steps i did.
somtimes i put my name up on here. remeber these names we put as our nickname doesnt mean its our real name or anything like that,
