There is not8 G iPod touch. I supect you have an 8 GB model. Is it a 1G, 2G or 4G?

First of all, you need you have at least iOS 5 installed. Second, the person you are texting must have an iDevice with iOS 5 or higher installed. You can´t send messages to an non-iDevice. You´ll also need an Wi-Fi network to send iMessages. Hope it helped!

I only synch and do not stream off of my 1st Gen AppleTV
I will try with ethernet but will be a pain in the butt if i can not fix it with wifi for long term fix
I may end up trying to do a named IP address vs DHCP for this appleTV (not sure if i can do both and do not want to remove DHCP as i have a bunch of sensors and other devices that I prefer to dynamically add to the network via DHCP vs. assign each one
Will keep working on other fix options (factory reset, etc.)

My iPod Touch shows the Apple logo splash screen and then turns off.

When I turn my iPod Touch on, the Apple logo is shown and then it turns off. After a few seconds, it shows up again. It continues to do this non-stop. Is there anything I can do? Any help would be greatly Appriciated

Let the battery fully drain. It may take awhile. After charging for at least an hour. If the iPod does not cycle on and off any more try:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Otherwise it appears you have a hardware problem and an appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Did you try rebooting the iPad?
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

I have tried restarting my ipod several times but my problem still trmains.
The home button does not respond. I can get to the screen with all my apps, but once I get into an app, I cannot exit it. What can I do?

Yes, if you get it fixes, the iPod will likely be erased. Apple will not repair your old iPod, they exchange it for a refurbished one and do not transfer data.

I plugged my iPod into my computer to retore it and proceeded to do so as told. The only thing that happened after that was that the Apple logo keeps showing up and nothing else. My computer/iTunes no longer recognizes my iPod either.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

After setting up email account the apple imap does not respond.

Able to get on the internet with no problem but when I try to set up an email account no matter whether yahoo or gmail I get this message. "imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the incoming mail server field. I have done this numerous times with no success. I deleted all email accounts since they did not work and still have had no success. The problem has to be with this ipad. The model number is MB293LL, Serial # V50445YCZ39 VERSION: 3.2.2(7B500). All pertinent information has been put in properly but the unit still is unable to send or receive any email. I am wondering if I should reset the entire unit back to factory specs etc. The form below this asked for an operating system and I put Vista in due to the fact that this system was given to me by someone that I know had Windows Vista on their home computer. I am trying to set up a basic email account through the settings email,contacts etc button on the ipad. When the list of servers comes up I pick yahoo and fill in the pertinent info as far as the correct email address and password. When I try to save it the ipad is the thing that comes up with this message "imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com" is not responding. I have no idea where or how it comes up with this but that is what appears when I try to save the account information it request. The info that JimHdk sent does not work either. Thanks for any help.

Try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears. See if that clears the glitch.

Open Activity Monitor and look for the program. Select it and Quit or Force quit it from within Acitiviy Monitor.
Search for the application with Find Any File as it can search areas that Spotlight can't, like invisible folders, system folders and packages. You can drag the app and any associated files from the search result window to the Trash bin in the Dock.
