For Munas, in a PC, the iPod shows up in both iTunes and in My Computer. In a Mac it only shows in iTunes, not on desktop or Finder,.

There is no disk mode like it used to be with the older ipod models. If you bought your music in iTunes, make sure autosync is disabled, connect to your computer and right click on your ipod in the device list in iTunes.
Choose "transfer purchases" to copy all media and apps bought in iTunes to your new iTunes library.
Also back up manually, to be able to restore your ipod after the first sync, which will erase your device due to the new iTunes library created on your HD.
Make sure to have at least one contact and event listed on your computer, to get the merge prompt while syncing contacts and calendars.

I recently got a new computer and all my music is on my ipod, much of it was from cd's. To transfer my music on my ipod to my computer i believe my ipod needs to show up in my computer but it isn't... can anyone help?

Okay, so i did some more looking into it and was able to answer my own question...
The ipod touch wasnt programmed with the function to go into disk mode which is why it is not showing up in My Computer... (Something along these lines)
I feel a little dumb now but i guess if anyone else had the same problem this could help...???

It allows you to copy the music on your ipod(as well as movies, videos, photos, etc...) to itunes in one simple step

ipod touch and iphone 4S not showing up on itunes but appears on "my computer" ive tried reseting the itouch but its still not recognized by itunes, my older ipod (wheel click) does appear and im able to download on that but i cant download or see itouch or iphone when connected.

Your question has probaby been answered already because it was posted a month ago but anyways what you do is you plug your phone into your computer. Next you want to open iTunes and click on File. Then you go down to "Transfer Purchases from *your name* iPhone". Then just wait for it to sync and you should be good.

Hi, i need Help, ever since i updated iTunes to the newest one i been having an issue, i plug in my ipod touch 5g and it shows up in itunes, but problem is i cant click on it, shows my device is plugged in but its locked or something and i cant open it to sync my ipod. as seen in picture the device shows up but i cant click on it wont let me, i cant go to the sync page.

Artist on ipod touch showing up as unknown but not on itunes

I have an ipod touch 4G which is updated with iOS 5.0.1. I am trying to organize some of my music by artist names and album titles.But for some reason after i went into itunes and put in the names of some artists for their songs,the artists won't show up with their songs on my ipod.For example,there is a song on my ipod called So Forgetful by Lloyd Banks. But on my ipod the only thing that shows up is the song title.under where the album name and artist name are,it reads unknown.So I went into itunes to correct this.I edited the album to Hunger For More 2 and the artist to Lloyd Banks.But when I finished that, I went back into the ipod and the album title and artist still read unknown.this has happened for a couple of my songs.Also I haven't used itunes for some of these songs.

I have the same problem with everything updated. This frustrates me how this can not be resolved. iTunes has so many problems with song syncing. You would think it would be resolved with the great minds at Apple but it has not. Maybe iTunes needs to be remade from the ground up again.

Try connecting your ipod to another computer and sync only 1 file or song just for isolation purpose only to see if it'll sync.
If still not syncing, then porbably you may have a bad iOS installed in iPod which is hard to see if it has a problem because you said nothing's wrong with iPod. I just saying is, it MIGHT have a bad iOS.
If you are unable to do a restore, put your ipod in DFU mode, then connect to iTunes and iTunes will detect your ipod in restore mode. Press shift key (PC keyboard) then click the restore button on iTunes. I hope you have your copy of IPSW file for restoration purposes.

Why does my ipod touch show up in iTunes then disappear? The computer seems to recognize it as a camera device, rather than a mass storage device. Does this have anything to do with the problem? When plugged in, a window pops up asking which photo program you'd like to use, and if you cancel, that's it. Even if you try to open a photo program, and download your photos off of the ipod, it still won't show up in itunes.

Place the iPod in recovery mode to bypass the passcode (and essentially erase your iPod) and then restore via iTunes on your computer.

iPod Touch shows plug into iTunes. I did this, it took 2 hrs. to update then tells me it doesn't see the device to Restore. I see the iPod icon in the left column under devices.

What fixes many problems in programs is to uninstall and reinstall. If you lose all your apps and music, and the problem is not fixed, I give you the right to curse as loud as you want.
