IPod Touch software update suggestions - Attention Apple Development!
Maybe this has occurred to you folks at Apple, but how about an iPod Touch software update that allows the user to create 'folders' to organize YouTube bookmarks? Even better, a way to do this in the sync-page of iTunes as well. And another suggestion - a way to select which Safari bookmarks are synched; better yet which browser to sync (Safari, Firefox, etc. - can't do this on the Mac as far as I can tell).

I tried to update my ipod touch software by syncing with itunes and it put the ipod into "recovery mode". Seems like the only option is to restore? Is there a way to get it out of recovery mode?
No.
Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...

New Ipod Touch Software updated?
I just bought an Ipod Touch for a gift, does anyone know if it contains the January software update? Do they sell them with the update or do you still have to pay for the update. I would like to give the item wrapped but if there is no update I would like to open it and install the update. Thanks
One would think this, but if you look there are several folks who recently bought an iPod Touch that was not upgraded. I guess it would be safer to say that by now, all the ones at Apple's stores have the upgrade and most from other reputable dealers will have it.
The safest way to check is to look at the model number if it ends in /A it is the original software, if ti ends in /B it has the upgrade. -
Downloading previous ipod touch software updates
Is it possible to download a previous software update for my ipod touch? My software version is currently 1.1.5, but I do not want to buy the new 3.0 version. Is there a link somewhere that I can go to?

Remember, just in case someone tells you to "Google" it and download software that's online, it won't work as you have to had bought this from Apple, and of course, it would be stealing.
Not that YOU were going to do that, just trying to avoid that pitfall.

I'm still in the age of software 2.2 for the iPod Touch.
You may think this is a stupid question but actually I am just confirming because I don't fully trust Apple.
The 3.1 software is $4.95 US, does this include all features of version 3.0? Or do I have to buy 3.0 for ~$10US and 3.1 for $4.95US afterwards?
Thanks!You're not really paying for 3.1, you're really paying for an upgrade to any version of 3, so buying 3.1 is the same as buying 3.0 and then upgrading to 3.1 afterwards.

Restored iPod Touch Software Update will not appear
Hello Today I restored my iPod Touch as it was acting strangely, mail app freezes etc. After I restored in Synced with my computer but the January Software update would not install. I hope this restore did con me out of 20 dollars and I am hoping someone can assist me.
Did you restore the iPod on the same machine that you bought the software upgrade?
If not then you need to restore it on the machine where the upgrade was purchased or copy the upgrade file to the new computer. You need to do a search in these forums to find the details of the file you need. -
I recently downloaded the 3-d vector pong game and today i looked on the applications page in itunes. Apparently it was updated to version 1.2 and I have version 1.1. Both my computer and my ipod say that there are no updates available. This update has many features that i would like to have but i dont know how to get to them.
The one update I had notified me and downloaded to iTunes. Maybe contact the developer and ask what you need to do?

IPod touch + Software update + Blue screen of death = Broken iPod?

As the title already might explain, i just connected my iPod to my pc to get some apps & movies on it for my boring schooltrip tomorrow. Whilest iTunes was downloading the new software for my iPod, i just was continueing hanging around on the net, when all out of a sudden, my pc get's a nice blue screen of death. First, i didn't care, untill i checked my iPod... It's stuck on the iTunes logo + the cord. When i press any button, it doesn't do anything. When i press the power, it shuts down after few secs.
I then tried to replug it to the pc to reset it. My pc makes the sound of a usb connection, but nor Windows, nor iTunes finds my iPod.
Can someone please help me?
Thx alot!I just had my ipod in my pocket and when i got it out to look at a text that i got the screen was white and i couldn't do anything on it so i held both buttons and it shut down and started working again but it did the same thing the other day.... But now it wont shut down or anything. I tried letting the batter go dead on it but it still did the same thing.. i can hear when i get a text and hear to unlock the screen but it stays on a white screen 24/7....what do i do??
I don't have a warranty so how much would it cost to get it fixed??? -

I was halfway thru updating ipod touch software, i walked away from computer and when i came back there was an error "1602" and a picture on my ipod (requesting to connect to itunes?) but WILL NOT WORK AT ALL!
What's going on? Seems like a lot of people are having similar problems all at the same time.From the article cited at the end of my post:
Error 1602: Try the following steps to resolve this error:
Ensure proper USB isolation troubleshooting has been performed, and test with a known-good cable.
Follow the steps listed for Error 1604.
This error may be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software.
Error 1603: If you receive this error and the iOS device is not automatically placed into recovery mode, it may be necessary to do so manually. Refer to iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to restore for steps on placing iPhone into forced recovery mode. Also, remove the IPSW and attempt to restore again. If you do not want to remove the IPSW in the original user, try restoring in a new administrator user.
Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the USB 30-pin dock-connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
