IPod Touch stopped connecting to WiFi, yet all other devices do!

Hey there. My iPod (4th gen) just glitched and went off-line yesterday after I had some issues fixed with my linkys router. I was adding a new (used) MacBook Pro to my gadgets, and now the iPod is no longer connecting at all to my wifi. It DID work all evening though, following this router update...
(I'll never understand why it's so easy tp get online in a library or cafe, yet my own home wifi is a darn chore!)
Ok - Odd thing is: My old iBook G4 is online (wifi) upstairs, my old PowerBook is picking up fine, and even my 1st gen iPod has a connection!! o_O
Symptoms include:
Signing on using password etc, and getting the checkmark beside the name of the account, even getting 5 curved wifi bars in full (this is now random, but was a real teaser in the beginning), and yet NO internet connection. Nada. Argh. (1st world problems eh?)
I have tried:
Turning the device OFF, then back on.
Turning wifi off then on.
Resetting Network Connections.
Pressed "Forget this Network" and started again.
And I even went as far as to RESET my iPod in iTunes (lost all my apps etc, though they're on the laptop so...)
Updated the software (after this issue, not before...)
And not a thing. Ugh. Making me mental.
Do I have to set it back to Factory Settings? (May as well, since I'm willing to start over, most info is on my laptop too...)
ANY help would be appreciated. I use that iPod a lot around the home for the radio apps, and really miss the music!!
Thank You Thank You Thank You!!

Very frequently powering off and then back on the router resolves the problem.  Try it.

  • I can not connect to server when all other devices in house can

Why can't I connect my iPad to the server when all other devices can?

You may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPad a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

  • IMac cannot connect to internet, but all other devices can?

Ok So I have an iMac, two iphones, and a mac book air in the house.  The mac book and iphones can connect to my chinese tp-link router, and connect to the internet wirelessly just fine.  The iMac however, everytime I tried to connect to the internet via the Wi-Fi signal through the tp-link router, the wifi signal on the very top right hand corner of the screen has an exclamation mark on the wifi bar, and it says Alert: No Internet Connection.  The ethernet works fine connected directly to the iMac, and I can access internet via ethernet wire setting, but not wifi-setting from my tp-link router.
What I've narrowed it down to:
It is not the problem with the router, because it is configured so that every device I've tried, except for the iMac works with the router.
It is not the problem with my internet connect, because all other devices works, except for iMac.
It is not the problem with my internet card on the iMac, because I was able to connect with an airport extreme about two weeks ago via wirelessly.
It is not the hardware problem, like I said, ethernet socket, internet card, they all work.
It has nothing to do with the software update, the software is up to date, running on Mac OS X, Version 10.7.2 lion.
It has to be a software issue, something to do with the configuration of the network.
I've already looked everywhere on the apple discussions, I found similar problems, but they were either unresolved, or unrelated to my problem.  So what did I mess up on?
    Best
    Brian

    Hi everyone
I have the exact same problem! My imac, operating with 10.7.2 will not connect and has the ! over wifi icon. (sadly connecting the ethernet cable and disconnecting again didn't work for me).
My MacBook is running with os 10.6.8 and works with the router although now I can't update the operating system or I'll have the same probs with Macbook!
So, I've spent most of this week back and forth with apple support, TP-Link and ISP. (all firmware for router completely updated) and nothing's worked.
I have been told by an apple senior technician that the TP-LINK router is not compatible with computers operating with os10.7.2 and I need a different router.
Just thought I should let everyone know to save you wasting loads of money on phone calls like I just did!
    take care

  • IPod Touch stopped connecting to Internet (WiFi)

Just unbelieveable-- I've been using my iPod Touch with a variety of WiFi connections the past 3 months, but really wanted WiFi at my home. So yesterday I got a D-Link DIR-635 Router acting as a bridge Router (connected to my older DI-604 Router) and all was super. This worked yesterday and this morning as well. In fact, it seemed even faster this morning-- well worked great in any case.
THEN NO MORE WiFi: But this afternoon, although the iPod Touch sees and "connects" to the router, it goes looking for the weather data, or stock data, or YouTube videos or eMail-- nothing.
YET my PowerBook and MacBook find and make the wireless connection just fine and connect to the internet perfectly--
I've tried changing some settings in the WiFi settings on the iPod Touch-- nothing.
    Strange strange strange...
Why would the PBG4 and MacBook work with this and not the iPod Touch-- especially when it worked up until 6 hours ago???
Any and all comments appreciated. I can give the DNS and router and IP Address info or whatever is needed. If the Macs didn't work, I'd say this was a new router problem-- but they work fine!
    Steve
    Sunday 23 March 2008

You know I've got a cordless phone RIGHT NEXT to this router-- and the iTouch is back working again, but I am going to RELOCATE that cordless phone.
I've read a bunch of other comments similar to my post-- changed the DNS to 208.67.222.222 (it didn't work right away after that change, but within 30 minutes...)
So I'm going to follow this and thanks very much for your feedback and please don't hesitate to send further ideas!
Working for 30 minutes now-- hope it continues; and looking into relocating that phone!

  • Can't get my iPhone (iPad or iPod touch) to connect to wifi

I cannot get my iPhone 4s to connect to wifi in my home since the last two updates. It sees my network but says unable to connect. This not only happens to my iPhone 4s but to my iPad 2 and my iPod touch. Idk what else to do to get it to connect. My other non apple products work just fine on my wifi but my apple products wont. Please help me I am about to go crazy.

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Do they connect to any Wi-Fi network?
If they connect to others, it's an issue with your router most likely.  Start by power cycling the router.
