Ipod Touch Stops Syncing

Okay so after making a backup and restoring my Ipod touch, I was working on getting the backup back into it. It goes on smoothly until it runs into one song and then stops completely, freezing Itunes and after a while my computer until the error that my Ipod, or 'disk,' cannot be read and the file for the song itself can't be read either. I tried deleting the song from Itunes and selecting specific songs to sync but nothing is fixing it. Everytime I sync it starts right at that song and I have about 90 songs to still put on my Ipod. Not to mention I don't even have my downloaded apps anymore.

Do the songs play OK in iTunes?
Try:
'Disk cannot be read from or written to' when syncing iPod or 'Firmware update failure' error when updating or restoring iPod

  • My iPod Touch stops syncing halfway through

I just got a new computer and I transfered all of my files onto it. I plugged my ipod in and updated it but instead syncing after it was done it deleted all the content off of my ipod. I restarted my computer and then tried to sync it again but now the process stops right after backing up the files. What should I do?

-Try resetting the iPod and try again.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next I would try restoring from backup
It is expected that when you connect an iPod that was synced to another computer/iTunes ibray, the iPod will be erased and its contents replaced with that in the iTunes library of the new computer. An iPod can only sync with one iTunes library.

  • IPod Touch stops syncing and disappears from iTunes

I have a problem with an iPod Touch 8GB: when connecting it to a MacBook, it starts syncing and transferring songs, but after a while it just stops syncing and disappears from iTunes. The iPod will still show "sync in progress", and it will still show up in the System Profiler, but not in iTunes.
If I cancel the sync from the iPod, the song library will be inaccessible ("Cancelling sync" or whatever it says) until I unplug the USB cable. If I keep trying (by unplugging and re-plugging it in), it will eventually finish syncing all songs, but it takes ages that way.
I have tried 2 different USB cables and upgraded to firmware 1.1.5 (it was 1.1.4 before). Any ideas?

I have upgraded to 2.0.1 and the latest itunes as of today and still have the exact same issue. I have even tried the following with no luck :
    1. Restart the ipod after this occurs and then sync again.
    2. Deleted my entire list of Music and Videos from itunes and reloaded them back.
    3. Formatted and Reinstalled Windows and tried syncing again.
Thanks to this issue, i dont even have a single song or Video on my ipod....
    Can someone please Help.

  • Ipod touch stopped syncing with itunes since ios 5 upgrade

    Can someone PLEASE ADVISE ME!
I spent off and on 24 hours finally getting my ios 5 update on my ipod touch 4g. When i first upgraded itunes to 10.5, when I tried to upgrade to ios5 the udgrade kept crashing.  Then my ipod stopped syncing with itunes. Im on a PC with windows 7 (64-bit). So I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.  My ipod coninues to not sync. So, I finally reverted my ipod back to factory settings and then it took like 8 hours total for my ipod to revert, update to ios 5, and then resync my apps, music & vids and settings with itunes. I thought YES EVERYTHING IS GREAT.  Starting using ios 5 and was loving it.  Till, i wanted to resync with itunes to enable wifi syncing.
Now, everytime i plug in my ipod, it says Syncing my ipod (step 2 of 8) and the stripy thing is moving...and below that it ways Backing up
but then it just keeps saying this for hours.  never moves beyond "step 2", So i end up having to open task manager and closing out itunes.  Then when i reopen itunes it will freeze up.  I uninstalled'reinstalled itunes now 4 times and the same thing happens...the sync never gets beyon step 2...backing up.
WHAT CAN I DO? please help! Desperate

ah now i see your reply in the thread.  well, i am sorry yours wont tuen on or even get recognized.  *** is going on with this stuff.  i really love the ios5 but if i cant sync with itunes im screwed. i dont want to have to pay for more iCloud storage for backing up either!!!
I really hope someone can advise me. Cuz i fear I may have to try and revert back to factory and spend like 6 or 7 hours again trying to resync and re set up my ipod

  • TS1591 iPod Touch Stopped Syncing to iTunes

So my iPod Touch 4th Generation(iOS 6.1.5) stopped syncing after the iTunes 11.1.4 update for Windows. My laptop is an Asus Vivobook (Windows 8.1) and iTunes was working perfectly fine before the new update. The iPod is recognized on my laptop but it won't show up in iTunes when I connect it. (the iPod also does get charged so it's probably unrelated to the charging cable)
Is this happening to anyone else and did anyone find a solution? Should I just try to downgrade the iTunes app??
I looked at the help page for when iPod doesn't show up and tried all of the steps but it didn't work.
I'm really hoping that this gets resolved soon and that many more won't have the same problems in the future!

  • IPod Touch not syncing w/ iMac iCal

First post! I sync my iPod Touch with my iMac thru the cable. Recently my iPod touch stopped syncing w/ my iMac. for example: the calendar events on the iMac are not transferred to the iPod. Also on the iPod when I create an event, it will only give me the choice of either Calendar [imap_.Mac]:Mail To Do or Calendar, not all my different calendars like before. I don’t know what happened to change this. I restored the iPod but nothing changed. Perhaps it was a software update?
I went to the genius bar and was told that the next time I synced the iPod, under the “Info” page to go to “Advanced”, Replace information on the iPod and click the boxes that I needed to replace. This did nothing. I then put an event on the iPod and synced it with the computer, the event was not transferred to the computer.
Is there a setting that needs to be changed?

    Greetings,
Have you restored the iPod? http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/assistant/ipodtouch/

  • Why does my ipod touch stop playing songs when i click to play, it plays for a few seconds sometimes longer and then goes onto the next song. Help!

Please help,my ipod touch stops playing songs sometimes a few seconds in and then other times halfway. It cant be the song because different songs do it each time. Ive tried to restore it and it makes no difference :(
Please help as this problem gets very annoying. Thanks!

Did you restore to factory defaults/new iPod and sync stuff to your iPod?  If you restore from backup there may be some corruption that is now in the backup.

  • Alright, so my ipod touch stopped working, but I can still connect it to itunes, but my friend gave me his old nano. I was wondering how I could get my more updated songs from my ipod touch onto the shuffle. My laptop crashed whish had all my new music

Alright, so my ipod touch stopped working, but I can still connect it to itunes, but my friend gave me his old nano. I was wondering how I could get my more updated songs from my ipod touch onto th nano. My laptop crashed whitch had all my new music, and im afraid if I sync my Ipod touch to the desktop with all my old songs, ill lose all my newer ones which I dont want to happen because I want them on my nano. Im sorry for the confusing topic im just so lost.

All you have to do is connect your new iPod to the computer that has the library for your old iPod.
When iTunes comes up, click on your new iPod under Devices.
At the top of the Summary Page click Music.
    Click Synch Music.
Do the same thing for Photos, Apps, Movies and so on...
    Now just synch the iPod.

  • Why has my iPod Touch stopped connecting to my WiFi?

Why has my iPod Touch stopped connecting to my WiFi?
It's been fine for the past 2 years but today, it's stopped. It was working this morning...
According to settings it has connected but I cannot access anything online and the internet icon is missing.
WiFi is working on my phone & laptop so it doesn't appear to be a problem with the router. Also I've just synced my iPod with iTunes, reset and restarted - still no luck.
    Any suggstions?
    Thanks

Did you already try to reset the network settings in Settings/General/Reset?

  • IPod Classic stopped sync with new iTunes

Once iTunes went to version 11 my iPod Classic stopped syncing.  My iPod Touch will sync.  I prefer my Classic though.  It is recognized by iTunes, starts the first step of the sync process but that shuts down and doesn't sync.  It doesn't freeze my machine just won't launch the sync process.  My library is on my iPod from the last time it would sync, but anything I've bought since won't load to the device.  I ran the diagnostic and it fails at the end saying no device found, which is weird since it appears in my iTunes, tells me how much audio and files I have and reflects that I have 16GB available.  I've tried tons of the tips on here, changed settings, checked and unchecked all kinds of boxes, changed USB ports, etc., and nothing has worked.  Has anyone else had this issue since the v.11 series of iTunes came out?

Probably because you did not tell the iPod to sync the calendar in iTunes.

  • After restoring iPod it stops syncing half way

After restoring iPod, it stops syncing while it is downloading music with an error message "Attempting to copy to the disk. iPod failed. The disc could not be read from or written to".
My music is less memory than what my iPod can hold.
    What's up with this?
    THX!

It's possible that your iPod's hard drive has started to fail. Take your iPod and place your right thumb on the centre SELECT button and your left on the top MENU button. Press down both thumbs for about 6 seconds until your iPod reboots. Immediately move your left thumb around to the rewind button |<< on the left and hold this down together with SELECT for a further 6 seconds. Your iPod should now switch into Diagnostic Boot mode. Press MENU for *Manual Test*, then select *IO > HardDrive > HDSMARTData* to reveal your stats. For comparison here are mine for my 2 year old 6th Generation Classic:
    Retracts: 889
    Reallocs: 12
    Pending Sectors: 0
    PowerOn Hours: 2202
    Start/Stops: 894
    Temp: Current 24c
    Temp: Min 10c
    Temp: Max 50c
Take a note of your results. When finished press *SELECT & MENU* for 6 seconds to reset the iPod again.
With modern disc drives sectors are no longer marked bad by a disc scan, if the SMART firmware detects a sector it has trouble accessing it will attempt to invisibly reallocate it to a spare area of the disc.
Note that I've only 12 remapped sectors and none pending. To help explain what the numbers mean here is an extract from the Wikipedia S.M.A.R.T. article:
    *Reallocated Sectors Count*
Count of reallocated sectors. When the hard drive finds a read/write/verification error, it marks this sector as "reallocated" and transfers data to a special reserved area (spare area). This process is also known as remapping, and "reallocated" sectors are called remaps. This is why, on modern hard disks, "bad blocks" cannot be found while testing the surface – all bad blocks are hidden in reallocated sectors. However, as the number of reallocated sectors increases, the read/write speed tends to decrease. The raw value normally represents a count of the number of bad sectors that have been found and remapped. Thus, the higher the attribute value, the more sectors the drive has had to reallocate.
    *Pending sector count*
Number of "unstable" sectors (waiting to be remapped, because of read errors). If an unstable sector is subsequently written or read successfully, this value is decreased and the sector is not remapped. Read errors on a sector will not remap the sector (since it might be readable later); instead, the drive firmware remembers that the sector needs to be remapped, and remaps it the next time it's written.
Large numbers of Reallocs or Pending Sectors would suggest your drive is failing and that you may need to repair or replace your iPod. Check your stats after another attempt to update your iPod. If the numbers increase that again points to hard drive failure. While it won't be good news at least you'll know it isn't some random software problem and you can decide what to do next.

I just purchased a new ipod touch so now I have two. I do not want the second ipod touch to sync the same as the old ipod touch - 2 people with 2 different music preferences. How do I keep them separate.

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.
