  • IPod touch stuck on connect to iTunes screen

I was away from my computer, but I assume something happened during an update that started before I left it. My iTunes stopped functioning and wouldn't even reopen after I closed it. I reinstalled all Apple products on my computer, and iTunes is now working fine. My iPod is still stuck on the screen though. A person could normally just restore their iPod, but my iPod is no longer being recognized by iTunes (or Windows for that matter) since the update went bad. I've tried two different cables and holding the power and home buttons. Apple Mobile Device is installed, and I tried restarting it using the directions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
Please help. I use my iPod for exercising and the long drive to and from school.

  • IPod Touch stuck on "Connect to iTunes" screen after attempting to install iOS6

Like the title says, I attempted to update my iOS on my 4th generation ipod touch. Not only did the update not install due to some unknown error, my ipod has been stuck at the dreaded "Connect to iTunes" screen. It isn't being recognized by Windows 7 when I plug it in, either. I've gone through the apple pages and followed their trouble shooting guide, and still nada. I've reinstalled iTunes, restarted my computer, done the sleep/wake and home button tricks, updated the drivers, uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers, used 3 different cords to connect my ipod to my PC, let it die then try to connect it; you name it. Does anyone else have advice on how to fix this? It's only a month old, and this is really frustrating.

To try recovery mode try using this program instead of the buttons.

  • IPod touch stuck on connect to iTunes screen, no way to enter passcode

My son's 64 iPod Touch is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen.  We plugged it into the computer and followed the steps with the Home button explained in previous threads, but we can't even get into iTunes to launch recovery and restore.  It keeps saying the iPod is locked and that a passcode is required.  We know the passcode, but there is no place we can see where to enter it.  The computer should recognize the device too, since it's the same computer the iPod was synced to before, but it is still asking for a passcode.  The iPod is only 18 months old and has never been tampered with, all by the book.   So how do we get past this problem and into recovery and restore?  Apple website says they want $219 just to look at a device!  I already spent $500 to buy it, so hundreds more to make it work properly is not an option.  Help!

That's just it.  I think its already in recovery mode.   But when I try to connect to iTunes to get to restore,  I don't get the message I'm supposed to get saying it recognizes a device in recovery mode.  All it says is that it knows the name of the iPod but can't connect it to iTunes because the iPod is locked.  It says I have to enter a passcode to unlock the iPod first.  But there's no way to enter the passcode, neither on the iPod or the computer.  How do I get out of this loop?  Tried to put it into DFU, but it asks for a passcode too.

  • 3rd gen 8GB ipod touch stuck on connect to itunes

This isn't fair. I just bought this 3rd gen 8gb ipod touch (my first ipod ever, only owned Mp3 players) from best buy today and i can't even use it...
I'm going to start from square one, this will be long-winded, so forgive me in advance. But detail might help you guys help me out...
Okay, all giddy with excitement I boot up my touch for the first time. It tells me to connect it to itunes. I do that, hooking up the touch to the computer via usb. Vista detects it, installs the "apple mobile device" drivers just fine. Good, so then I open up itunes -- latest version -- and it's telling me to set up my ipod; name it, etc. Alright, I'm almost bursting at the seams here with excitement, but then itunes is notifying me that iOS4 is out. I upgrade, it takes a few minutes to do its stuff, it's done, and bam it's working. I play with the ipod a little bit, looking at the apps that already came with it. I disconnect, play with it, then reconnect to the computer again.
So now, itunes for some reason is doing a "recovery" process -- i did not tell it to initiate this. So it's in the process of "recovering" (backing up, i guess?) and Vista is prompting me to install the driver "Apple Mobile Device (Recovery)" I tell it ok, locate and install them. It does that, I'm guessing, for it's now prompting me to insert a CD. Well, there is no CD so I tell it to find this driver on the internet. It says "cannot find drivers check manufacturer's support site blah blah blah." At this point, itunes tells me that it cannot complete the "recovery process" -- no error code or anything, and the dialog box closes.
Now, my ipod goes into the connect to itunes screen. Itunes does not recognize it, for it does not even display my ipod at all. Vista does however, and each time i connect the ipod to the computer it attempts to install the "apple mobile device (recovery)" driver and fails each time. I don't know what's happening. I've lost all functionality in my ipod, can't even get into DFU. iTunes just refuses to recognize it. I've tried all of those fixes (reinstalling itunes, rebooting, trying that method where you go into device manager and update the apple mobile device (recovery) drivers....all of it doesn't work). I've spent hours websearching...
And I'm at a loss. I'm ready to throw this thing somewhere. Can you guys suggest any help for me? Please...

  • Ipod touch stuck on "purchasing" on Itunes wifi store

Ipod touch, all set up with itunes, computer authorised, songs purchased on computer and transfered to ipod touch ok...wifi works ok, able to browse and u-tube etc.
trying to purchase songs on the wifi store on the ipod touch, can see the UK price, hit buy now, get asked for password, enter that, song goes into "downloads"...1 in a red circle beside the icon...hit the icon and the song is there but the progress bar sits with no progress and underneath it says "purchasing". Never moves. Doesnt matter if the ipod is restarted, connected to the computer or not. The only time it said anything different was when we synced a song (ipod is set to not sync, we prefer manual management of music) it once said "waiting" instead of "purchasing"...but never progressed.
Tried changing DNS settings, just in case. Also tried a wrong password, and it did the same thing...so it seems to be a catch at the authorisation stage. Tried upper and lower case using the shift key lit or unlit (pw is lower case) but no change.
Everything works perfectly except the ability to actually get the music down direct over wifi...
    ideas?
    Thanks.

I had this problem... Just a minute ago. The exact same.
I noticed that on the album preview page... it had iTunes Plus. I thought that it must be a warning of iPod incompatible content, so I tried to purchase the album on my computer... and i was given a T&C screen, I accepted the T&C screen and it said "Try and download the files again" so I tried on my iPod again... and it worked.
It was because iTunes Plus has its own T&Cs that you need to accept them to download the song/album. Hope it works for you like it did me!

  • Ipod touch stuck on 'connect to itunes' - Restore is not working

We've got an Ipod touch (no idea on generation) that we were trying to sync some apps to from a laptop (not mac), they wouldn't sync so we tried resetting the ipod and syncing everything together. After resetting when we tried to access the ipod on itunes it just came up with 'could not connect to itunes store' (where we are it is currently blocked) which meant that we could not access the ipod via itunes in any way and then ipod was then stuck on the 'connect to itunes' screen.
We tried turning both it and laptop off and on again, disconnecting etc. Then tried the restore using the home and on/off button which triggered the restore via itunes by putting it into recovery mode and it downloads everything fine but the ipod still remains on the connected to itunes screen - we've now tried restoring it 4 or 5 times.
I was confused as to why the ipod wanted to connect to the itunes store in the first place because it has never asked to do so before and as it is blocked here then for every sync before this it has not been connected nor has it wanted to be. Perhaps it's to do with the apps? But there are apps already on the ipad. Perhaps taking the laptop and ipod to somewhere with wireless where the itunes store isn't blocked will allow us to access the ipod and restore/reset/sync and that will fix the issue?
We're loathe to take it all the way to the nearest apple shop, especially on a wet Sunday, just for them to tell us that their only advice is to trigger the recovery mode which we know doesn't work! So any other advice is much appreciated.
Just to clarify, we have been through recovery mode 4 or 5 times and done a full restore on it, with it downloading all the software and firmware and it hasn't worked.

To restore an iPod an internet connection to the iTunes store is is required. iTunes on the computer has to g to the Apple server to verify that it is using the latest firmware update.

  • IPod Touch frozen on Connect to iTunes Screen and cannot be restarted

My iPod Touch is frozen on the connecting to iTunes screen (The one with a usb plug pointing to iTunes logo) even when I plug it into my computer. Windows do give sound when I plugin, but it was not the successful connected sound but repeating the first note for three times =_=" iPod then appears the connect to iTunes logo, but it just stuck there. I hold the sleep/wake button for 5 seconds, it goes black directly, and windows would give unplug sound alert. But the iPod actually gives the white apple logo immediately without me pressing any button and goes back to the connect to iTunes logo. AGAIN. And computer gives ridiculous plugin alert then everything just go round and round and round.
Now iTunes won't detect it, therefore no restoration; Restart won't work either. If I press the sleep/wake button for 2 seconds without connecting it to the computer, it appears the apple logo, then go back to the connecting to iTunes screen immediately, and goes dark in 30 seconds.
Everything started after I updated new iOS for iPod touch, and I dunno how long would it take to run out the battery under this condition -_- I have updated to the newest iTunes version too.
Needs help urgently and thanks a lot!!

Sorry to hear that you're still having a problem. The only other help I could find is at http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/consumerelectronics/ipodfaq/ipod-how-to-restart-frozen-begin-troubleshooting.html
    Hope that helps.

  • Ipod Touch Stuck on the Apple reboot screen, please help!

Ok, So I was using my ipod touch. Actually I was downloading something as well as deleting some pictures of my ipod.
Eventually it froze up so I had to put it on reboot mode. So after about half an hour I started to notice that it had lasted way longer than usual, however I let it continue for another hour until the battery ran out. Even after the battery ran out and I plugged it into my computer it stays on the apple screen and therefore my iTunes refuses to recognize my iPod.
    What can I Do?
    P.S.
At times it acts like it is ab out to finally fix itself yet it just goes to black and then back to the apple screen.
I even left it charging all night and it was still in the same screeen. The only time it changes is to show me that it is out of battery

  • 2nd gen ipod touch freezes at connect to itunes screen

I finished downloading my installation file for the OS4.1 update but when it came to the actual updating, itunes said that my ipod had an error and could not update successfully
after that my screen for the ipod just froze at the picture which shows the usb connection to itunes.even after restarting both my computer and my ipod the ipod was still stuck at the connect to itunes screen. Anyone experienced a similar thing and knows how to solve it?

Try placing the iPod in recovery mode

  • 2nd Generation iPod Touch stuck in "Connect to iTunes" mode

I was using a 2010 ipod Touch today and when I later turned it on I get the iTunes must connect display.
I don't have a backup.  If I restore and update, will I lose all the photos?
Is there any way to recover this data if so?
My niece will be heartbroken if the all her photos are lost.....

Now that's a heck of a glitch.  She's been using it for three years.
The battery was fully charged and after taking several pictures, that's what came up.
Not sure how many pics are still in iCloud.
I saw a few 3rd party apps that claim to recover, wonder if these are a waste of time.

  • Ipod touch stuck in "connect to itunes" mode

My iPod Touch popped up with a "connect to itunes" message when I tried to restart it. I plugged the iPod Touch into the computer, and when I went into iTunes a message popped up. It read...
"iTunes could not connect the iPod 'iPod Touch' because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPod before it can be used with iTunes."
I cannot seem to figure out how to get rid of the "connect to iTunes" message. If somebody could please help me.
    -Thanks

Life is so much easier without a passcode...
    1. Unplug your touch from your computer
    2. On your computer, start iTunes
    3. On your touch, turn it off - hold the Sleep/Wake button down until you see the red slider and turn it off (this may not work but keep going)
    4. Hold the Home button down and keep holding it down while you plug your iPod back into your computer. Keep holding it down until iTunes says "an iPod has been detected in recovery mode". Let go of the button and follow the onscreen instructions to restore your iPod.
    5. Leave the pass code off...

  • IPod Touch is stuck in "connect to iTunes" screen. It is not recognized by iTunes or by my Windows (64-bit) computer.

I recently purchased a new laptop after my old one ceased to function. Therefore, I had lost ,my old iTunes, and my iPod is no longer authorized by a functioning computer. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes, plugged my iPod in, and tried to install the new iPod Touch software update. I got the error message that the installation had failed, and iTunes automatically ejected my iPod, leaving it in the "connect to iTunes" screen, in which it has been stuck ever since (about 9 days now). I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes, have rebooted my computer numerous times, I have tried various holdings of the power button and home button as recommended on several help forums, etc. to no avail. I am using a Windows 7 (64-bit) system on a brand new HP Pavilion dm4 laptop with plenty of space and the newest version of iTunes installed. My iPod Touch (3G) is not being recognized by iTunes or by my laptop. I would like to, if possible, restore my iPod to original factory settings so that it can be authorized on my new laptop and will sync approrpiately. Any help anyone can provide will be immensely appreciated. Thank you.
Also, the iTunes is the version for a 64-bit Windows OS.

    - First I would remove and reinstall all the Apple software using the following and then restoring the ipOd.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    - Next see if manually placing the iPOd in recovery mode will allow a restore. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    - Next try DFU mode:
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - Next try another computer/cable to help determine if you have a computer or iPod problem.
    - If the other computer works and yours does not see:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

  • IPod touch stuck on USB connect screen but not recognized by iTunes

I downloaded the update for my iPod via iTunes but when the update attempted to install on the iPod, I received a message that the update failed. Now, my iPod is stuck on the USB connect screen (with the image of a cord below an arrow pointing to the iTunes logo). Every other thread says to connect to iTunes and attempt to reset the device (off and home button for several seconds) so I can restore it through iTunes, but even if I do that, it fails to connect to iTunes. Last time I had problems connecting to iTunes I downloaded the update through the iPod itself but seeing as I can't get off the USB connect screen, downloading it from the iPod is impossible. How can I get my iPod working again? Either getting it off the frozen screen so I can download the update, or getting my computer to recognize it so I can restore? Last time it wouldn't connect to iTunes (when it wasn't frozen) the computer still recognized it but now it does not. (I'm on a Windows 8 laptop)

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
