Ipod touch suddenly wont pickup home wifi.

My Ipod 4g touch ran great on my netgear $35 router. So I bought a laptop and in the process of setting it up it asked me to name my wifi network. No big deal right? Well ever since I did that my Ipod will not pickup any signal at my house and it also wont accept the network password. The laptop works fine, but now the ipod is useless at home. I tried resetting it, but no luck. I know the password is right, so what do I do? How do I get it to recognize my home network again? This is driving me crazy!

OK. As I said beforeI never did any thing with the router except take it out of the box and plug it in. I never took the setup disk out of the box or did anything to ever set it up that way. I plugged it in and my ipod had a signal. worked fine until I set up my laptop. I only named the network when I setup my laptop. I never even went thru the installation process of my router. So I never set up wireless security or anything like that. Could this be my problem? My laptop does get a good signal, but no ipod signal. Perhaps I need to go in and set my wireless router up?

No. There are many different types of wireless network security that could stop the iPod touch from connecting to a Wi-Fi network.
What type of security is being used on your network? WEP, WPA, MAC address filtering?
How many characters are in the network key that you are entering?
Also does the iPod touch display a Wi-Fi address when you goto Settings> General> About?

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My ipod touch won't connect to wifi at home, it use to work just fine, now it keeps telling me my password is wrong, but it can't be wrong because it is the same one I have always used. I also have an IPad2 that belongs to my daughter and it connects with our wifi at home with no problem. But, why is my wifi telling me that my password is wrong. I have tried everything, we have changed the pass word and that did not work. We have have taken security off of our wifi and my ipod touch give me another message, but it won't connect to my wifi at home. Please help... b/c the greatest thing for me is to be able to connect to wifi at home.

I have even shut down my ipod touch to see if it fixes the lack of wifi connection at home but it keeps telling me my password is wrong. I can connect everywhere else, but not at home. Pls help my.. I need to connect at home. Does it matter if we have othere decives like ipads connected to the same wifi. Because we have an ipad2 and my ipod and up until 1 week ago, we had very little issues keeping both of our devices connected at home. Just let the battery drain until the screen shuts off. When you charge it back up it should boot up normally.

My paper work for my linksys says WEP 64 bits. I've tried changing my IPOD to that and it will say put in password and when I do I get "invalid password" or can not connect. IPod Touch only connects to home network; not Airport, Starbucks, Panera...

Before I start, I've read the FAQs and have looked through a number of topics already posted.
I seem to have the opposite problem everyone else is having. My iPod Touch connects just fine to my home wireless... It connects and I'm able to browse the internet, download apps, etc without fail.
However, when I was at the airport recently (both St. Louis and Dallas/Ft. Worth), my Touch would "connect" to the wireless there, but I couldn't go on the 'net or get new apps, etc. It was behaving as if I wasn't at a location with wireless access. When I returned home, I went to Starbucks, Panera, McDonald's... several places with free, open, easy-to-connect WiFi (and took my laptop to make sure that their wireless was working), and had the same problems as I did at the airport.
Considering the best part of having wireless on the Touch is that you should be able to access it anywhere with WiFi, it seems kind of "useless" to have it only work at home (I have two computers at home; so it's not like I need to use the Touch for internet there).
Any thoughts? Obviously, the whole "check your router settings" / "reset your router" answers are not going to help me, as I have no control over those, nor can I see them at these places. Help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm having the same problem. My iPod Touch connects to my home network and another secure network for which I enter the network name and password. However I am unable to connect to any free WiFi, even when my laptop can access it with no problem. The signal is apparently strong; I can see all the bars on the upper left, but when trying to connect to Safari or the app store it says that there is no connection.

IPod Touch stopped connecting to Internet (WiFi)

Just unbelieveable-- I've been using my iPod Touch with a variety of WiFi connections the past 3 months, but really wanted WiFi at my home. So yesterday I got a D-Link DIR-635 Router acting as a bridge Router (connected to my older DI-604 Router) and all was super. This worked yesterday and this morning as well. In fact, it seemed even faster this morning-- well worked great in any case.
THEN NO MORE WiFi: But this afternoon, although the iPod Touch sees and "connects" to the router, it goes looking for the weather data, or stock data, or YouTube videos or eMail-- nothing.
YET my PowerBook and MacBook find and make the wireless connection just fine and connect to the internet perfectly--
I've tried changing some settings in the WiFi settings on the iPod Touch-- nothing.
Strange strange strange...
Why would the PBG4 and MacBook work with this and not the iPod Touch-- especially when it worked up until 6 hours ago???
Any and all comments appreciated. I can give the DNS and router and IP Address info or whatever is needed. If the Macs didn't work, I'd say this was a new router problem-- but they work fine!

You know I've got a cordless phone RIGHT NEXT to this router-- and the iTouch is back working again, but I am going to RELOCATE that cordless phone.
I've read a bunch of other comments similar to my post-- changed the DNS to 208.67.222.222 (it didn't work right away after that change, but within 30 minutes...)
So I'm going to follow this and thanks very much for your feedback and please don't hesitate to send further ideas!
Working for 30 minutes now-- hope it continues; and looking into relocating that phone!

Why can't I get my iPod touch to connect with my wifi?

I am unable to get my iPod touch to connect to my wifi even though I've verified the password is correct. Can anyone help?

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iPod connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

How are you trying to accomplish these two tasks?
The correct way is as follows:
Camera zoom: pinch with your fingers like you do when viewing pictures.
Camera button in lock screen: Double-tap on the home button while in lock screen
If you are already doing it that way and it doesn't work, then maybe someone else here has another idea.
