IPod Touch unauthorized - how did this happen?

I just updated the iPod Touch 2nd Generation to iPhone OS 3.1.1, then proceeded to install iTunes 9.
After restarting my Windows 7 box and opening itunes I checked for updates to my apps and iTunes said my password was incorrect, but when I put it in again it went through okay?
a lot of network and disk activity ensued started by iTunes. In the meantime I got a popup saying my iPod Touch was not authorized and if I didn't authorize it 58 apps would get deleted.
After I authorized it iTunes itself asked me to authorize it - so I did as well.
I didn't change anything in any of the authorized computers hardware and my password wasn't changed although itunes thought it was. Can anyone tell me what happened?

This also happened to me.
I've just upgraded the ipod touch software to 3.1.2 . It then said i was had to authorize the computer or ~58 applications would be deleted. So I did, but my number of authorised computers has gone up from 2 to 3. It's ok now, but i wont be laughing when they are all used up.
Maybe they think that the ipod is a computer and needs it's own authorization to run things.
Does Apple have an official support method? I'd like to get that authorization back if possible.

So if the solution recommended by Ralph is not working then the other option is this:
Please make sure that the emails work correctly when signed into, on a computer
Then delete the account off your phone - you will not lose the emails
Reset the phone
Re add the account back in and see if that helps the issue

Ok so i installed windows 7 ultimate 64 bit on a 50 GB partition and now i only have 3.02 GB free HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!!??

I didnt install anything but google chrome and GTA 4 which is 17 GB total and some how i have only 3.02 GB free of a 50 GB partition how did this happen?

My Windows 7 virtual machine file is 49.16GB, so I can confrm what Bob says is true.

If they're gone from icloud.com, then they aren't in iCloud. You could try waiting a while to see if this was caused by a server glitch and they will reappear. You could also try contacting Apple support to see if there is anything they can do at their end: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/.
Otherwise, you may be able to restore them by restoring your last iCloud backup. Doing this is a bit tricky, as you have to interrupt the restore process as soon as your phone restarts while restoring, either by putting it in airplane mode or pulling the internet connection to your router. If you don't, iCloud will overwrite and erase any restored calendars. Then you can disable iCloud calendar syncing and save the calendars to your phone, re-enable your wifi connection and let the restore process proceed, delete any existing calendars from icloud, and turn on icloud syncing on your phone again to upload the recover calendars to iCloud. This process is explained in this user tip from Winston Churchill: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4841. While this was written for contacts, just replace calendars for contacts and for the same instructions.

I just had the same problem and was able to fix it after trying a couple of things I found after a search.
The solution that worked for me:
Find iTunes folder - it should be in C:\Program FIles (x86) or similar depending on your operating system
Right click the entire folder (no need to open it) and click properties
Click the security tab
Click edit and highlight the user name under which you logged in.
Click the box next to full in the allow column, which should check everything
Click apply
Open iTunes
This worked for me.

I got an Itunes card and when I loaded it itunes downloaded an album that I did not order; so my question is how did this happen and how do I find out how much this album costs cause I would like to get my money back.

My wife got me an iTunes card today and as soon as I redeemed it a music album that I did not order downloaded and deducted the cost from my iTunes card. I did this happen and how can I get my money back? I do not listen to the type of music that was downloaded and feel like I was robbed in a way cause the only way things are suppose to download is if I click on them and enter my password. My wife loaded her ITunes card right after I loaded mine and the album did not and still has not loaded onto her phone so we think it could be in my settings we are going to check into that but I did have money removed my account so thank you for the link to the form.

iTunes Store: What to do if your account has been compromised

I saved my document as only .doc but not as a pages file and now I cannot edit anything and half the document looks incredibly screwed up, how did this happen?

I forgot to save the pages file, I do back up on time machine could a temporary file be in there somewhere? It was a 30+ page custom designed presentatiion that took me two weeks. i cannot believe I only saved it as PDF and .doc! My current theory is that I can only edit the document in pages as a pages file since that is what I had been doing. Please help if anyone has had this problem before or know how I can recover that screen I was working with a few days ago before I saved as a Word doc!!

Despite what Apple and its employees say Pages is not a 100% replacement for Word.
Pages files exported to .doc will have minor to major differences.
You should always have a Pages version. Exporting is only so non Mac and non Pages users may read it, and even there you should use .pdf to keep its appearance as close as possible to the original.
It sounds like you used a lot of Pages' features which turned out to not have Word equivalents.

The keys on my laptop are smeared and ugly.. how did this happen??

I love my laptop HP G60-243CL Notebook PC .. and do not want to give it up, even to get the keys replaced.
I have been an HP client since my first desktop computer in 1995, but am very disappointed that the keys are smeared, almost impossible to type.. if I did not already know which key is which I would not be able to type much of a comprehensible sentence.
I am wondering why (within 1 month) the keys were smeared and ugly, also is there a possible way to get new keys that would not look the same in a few months.. my laptop is just about 1 1/2 years new at this time in it's life.

Hello and sorry about your keys, it is possible that it may be some kind of hand lotion that is causing this effect.. Yes I tried this manyfold. But did not work. Reading on, I took Tesserac's advice. Shut down router and computer.
Start router after 15 minutes and wait another 10 minutes before starting the computer.
Et voila.... everything is back in working order,

I opened an existing spreadsheet, sorted one of the columns, then closed it out so I could open it and it would no longer be sorted (the sort screwed up all my headings), and the sort was saved! Why did it save my sort without asking if I wanted to save the changes?

I have multiple itunes libraries in my itunes folder with different dates. how did this happen?

im trying to figure out why songs randomly disappear from my actual itunes. when i check the itunes folder on the drive, there are several versions with different dates. I didnt intentionally create these multiple libraries and i dont know how to open them to look for missing music
