depends. for syncing and software updates: yes.
for putting e.g. MS Office files or .pdf files on it: check out e.g. _*Flash Drive*_ or _*Documents To Go*_. both require a wi-fi connection, though.
what about if I download any bluetooth program from the App Store ( For Example: iBlueNova ).
searching the app store for iBlueNova did not bring up anything for me. instead, search for +bluetooth fileshare+. maybe that app is for you ...

  • I can't get my iPad to find my iPod touch via bluetooth... Help!!!

I can't get my iPad to find my iPod touch via bluetooth, tried shutting off wifi on both and reseting. iPod 2 days old, 4 th gen white, iPad 2 = 2 months old

This is happening to many people.
For me, it's the Key Note Remote app that won't connect with my iPad2 from my iPhone4 after update to iOS5.
Apparently this does not affect the new iPhone 4S.
But that's not a solution unless you are planning on upgrading.
I'm still waiting for a response from Apple but I'd advise you to go to whichever app isn't connecting with Bluetooth and hit the "REPORT A PROBLEM" button in iTunes app page for said app.
This will go directly to the devs and should ellicite a faster response.
    Hope this gets fixed soon.
    Warm regards.

  • HT204387 is there a way to connect my ipod touch via bluetooth to my laptop? keeps saying bluetooth peripheral device not found

Is there any way to connect my ipod touch to my laptop that is running Windows 7? I've tried and tried and very time it will connect but then when it goes to download the drives an error pops up saying "bluetooth peripheral device not found".

The bluetooth is largely meant for speakers and keyboards, not data transfer.

2 months ago , my son and I (2 ipod touch 64g  4nd gen  ios 4 ) were apple to connect by bluetooth
Now I have upgraded to ios 5 and my ipod can't see my son's ipod
I have checked with some iphone and it is the same results
What's going with IOS5 ??  How to correct that bug

The iPods do not have the necessary BT profiles for file transfer and general pairing to another iDevice or computer.  Just what di you pair with before and what did you do with the pairing?
There are apps available that do allow pairing with another iDevice for things like gaming.

  • Slowness in changing iPod track via Bluetooth

    Dear all
I am using my iPhone 3GS in my car syncing it via Bluetooth. It works fine but, since upgrading to iOS 5, when I change the track using the car button, if I change immediately again the track, it takes 3 long seconds to do it on the iPhone. The problem is that I cannot select the previous track due to this delay. Did sb experience similar issue ?
    Than you very much

  • Misleading warning message after syncing iPod touch via iTunes

I have a 2nd gen iPod Touch running iOS 4.02 and am using iTunes 9.2.1 on my MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.6.4
When I sync my iPod Touch via iTunes, by clicking the Sync button ( and without changing any settings on the iPod Touch ) I get the following strange situation.
In the middle of the sync process, the Sync button in iTunes is replaced by a Cancel button and an Apply button.
After the syncing process is completed, if instead of ejecting the iPod touch I select a different row in the Library column of iTunes ( such as Podcasts or Music ), I got a popup warning message that says:
"You have changed the settings for the iPod "iPod touch". Would you like to apply these changes?"
I am presented with two buttons labeled respectively: Apply and Don't Apply.
My question is: Snce I have not changed any settings on my iPod, but only have synced podcasts and music and apps (whatever has changed in iTunes) why am I being told that I have changed the settings on my iPod?

You've posted in the WRONG forum. You won't get any help here unless your question is about Apple's server hardware.

  • Can the iPod Touch 4th Generation connect to other iPod's via Bluetooth?

Can you connect to other iPod Touch's and transfer Photos etc?

Yes.  Google GPS for iPod touch and you will find some.  You will need an app that stores maps since without an internet connection, the Google Maps app will not work.

    Welcome to Discussions, Eric CORIJN
FaceTime requires either iPhone 4 or gen4 iPod touch running iOS 4.1.
The FaceTime 0.9 beta requires Mac OS X 10.6.4 or higher.
FaceTime works on / with no other platform/OSs.

  • How to send pictures from my laptop to my ipod touch by bluetooth?

I tried to pair my ipod touch 4g to my new laptop. It recognised the device, but said no software found. Now the ipod is listed as a devive on my laptop, but with a warning triangle. I wanted to sent a photo from my laptop to my ipod via bluetooth. I can do it by connecting via USB, but I wanted to see if bluetooth worked also.

That type of bluetooth connection (profile) is not supported by your iPod Touch.  See this article for list of profiles that supported.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3647
You will have to find a method that allows you to do this over Wi-Fi instead.

  • I am trying to reset my 4th generation ipod touch via itunes (as I cannot remember parental controls code). In itunes it does a download but then says the software was corrupted during download. Itunes is up to date. Operating system is vista. Any ideas?

I have given my 4th generation ipod touch to my husband and he wants to download some in app purchases, so I am trying to reset it via itunes. I dont remember setting parental controls but I must have at some point, maybe when I lent it to the kids. But I cannot remember the password and nothing I have tried works. So I have backed the ipod up and am trying to reset it but after speding 10 minutes doing a download I get a message that says:
"The softwaar for the iPod was corrupted during download. Disconnect and reconnect, then try again. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later"
I have tried many times. All the settings are correct, and the network seems to be working fine in all respects.
    Any advice very much appreciated.
    Thank you
UPDATE - decided to try one more time after trying for hours and it has worked! I now suspect it may have been because my son was playing an online game. Though we have plenty of bandwidth. But in case, I guess it could be a bandwidth problem.

A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (or if you forgot your passcode)
iTunes 10 for Mac- Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
    iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
If you need to restore your device or if you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to
             update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup.
If you can not restore your device then you will need to go to recovery mode.
Placing your device into recovery mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
         1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end
of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
         2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the
red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake
and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake
              and Home buttons.
         3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device.
The device should turn on. Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device
charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then
             start with step 2 again.
         4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
         5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
         6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • Connecting to iPod Touch using Bluetooth

Can I connect to my touch using bluetooth? I have only used BT for wireless mouse and keyboard but I noticed it has selections for the iPhone and when I went to Other for devices it saw my touch. I just don't know enough about bluetooth and if this works, what benefit it has.

I know this is not the same device but this may explain what had to be done on a similar piece of hardware.
Before I start let me say I do not use my iPhone's supported/unsupported ability to use AT&T's 3G network to tether my iPhone to my MacBook Pro for internet/data use. My intention was to see what options were available and to see what methods could be use to allow communication between the Macbook and iPhone.
Something changed in or after 3.0 update. Before then I was able to set up a bluetooth connection using a unsigned/modified carrier profile that turned on the hidden option for internet tethering on the iPhone. At the time I wanted to see if was possible via bluetooth and it was but it no longer works. I think a update at AT&T's request may have broke this unsupported feature. Oddly enough it still works via USB.
