Ipod Touch wants to be plugged in, but Itunes wont see it
I know this may sound like a repeat of a lot of other topics but here is what I have done:
I downloaded the new ipod touch update last night and when it tried to install it it failed. I completely erased every since Itunes product I had from my computer and reinstalled it. When I did that, it told me to install a USB Composite device. I told it to automatically find it, and Im guessing that installed USBAAPL.sys. It said it installed the devices, but my Ipod Touch still is telling me to plug it in to Itunes.
I have also tried the start and stop on the Apple Mobile Device in the Administrative tools so that doesnt work. What should I try next?
Just for a quick update, I decided to redo all my installations for the second time. I am now at square one where the computer says "New Hardware Found, USB Composite Device." This is where my problems start, and I wont do anything until I know what to do next for sure. Usually I tell it to automatically fix it, but that doesnt get my computer or my Itunes to recognize it

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

IPod touch 3g stuck in recovery mode, but iTunes doesn't detect it.
I tried several times to update the software on my ipod, but each time was interrupted by my computer going to sleep (pc, Windows 7). Now my ipod is stuck in recovery mode, and itunes doesn't detect it at all. The ipod also won't turn off. Restore needed, but itunes wont see it???
Hi,
Phone all of a sudden just turned off, then back out telling me to connect to itunes, i have done that but it comes up with
"Restore needed, blah blah" then itunes tells me that my sim is locked and doesnt see the phone??Both of you can try this out and see if it works. The method below will put your iPhone into DFU mode:
1. Connect your iPhone to your computer and open iTunes.
2. Hold down the sleep and home button (ignore power off slider) and continue to hold for 7 seconds after the screen shuts off.
3. Let go of the sleep button, but continue to hold the home button. The screen should stay black while in DFU mode, if it turns on try the process again.
4. iTunes should pop-up saying that there is a iPhone in recovery mode.
5. Try restoring now.
Let me know if it works for you. If you are using a MAC to do this, you cannot be on 10.5.6, you have to update to 10.5.7. There was a problem with 10.5.6 recognizing iPhone's in DFU mode, but it was corrected in 10.5.7. -

plugged ipod touch 1st gen in to computer wont register that its even plugged into itunes the ipod touch charges when I plugged it in just wont register with itunes and itunes syncs with my other ipod just not with this one.

Your iPhone and iPod can share the same iTunes account. Apps can be freely shared and used by one or both devices. You can't use money in your iTunes account to pay for your phone, but purchased apps can be used by both the iPod and iPhone.

iPod touch second generation. Trying to sync to mac. Have updated itunes and snow leopard. When I plug it in, it is recognized in iphoto, not itunes. ipod is freezing. Have tried several times to set back to factory settings, but computer wont see it

My ipod touch thinks headsets are plugged in as indicated when pressing volume control. We did a reset but that did not work. What is next?
- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I just factory restored my iPod 5 touch and when I plug it into iTunes to back it up, iTunes stops responding and closes. This only occurs when the iPod is plugged in, when it isn't, iTunes works fine. I am using Windows 8 and iTunes is updated (as of this posting). Any suggestions on getting around this? Thank you.
Also, when I put it through the Windows diagnostic, it lists an "incompatible program" WHILE my iPod is plugged in.

Sync iPod Touch with entirely new media library BUT RETAIN existing apps
Hi fellows. I'm creating a new media library where all the music, etc, are properly tagged/organized/album art embedded. I'm currently sync-ing my iPod Touch to my existing library, which is quite messed up, i.e. no album art, crappy tagging, etc.
When I'm eventually done with the new library, I will like my iPod Touch to sync to that library but, my Touch has many AppStore apps (linked with the current library) & I will like to keep them (along with whatever data the apps are storing as well).
I'm concerned if I sync my Touch to the new, nicely-done library, all the apps will be wiped, i.e. I haven't downloaded all the many apps onto the new library, currently it's just music. I do not mind the music on the Touch being wiped as a result of sync-ing with the new library (I actually want that, i.e. remove all the crappily-tagged music & grab all the nicely-tagged versions from the new library into the Touch), but I want the apps on my Touch to remain untouched/un-moved/not reloaded.
Is my requirement possible? I was hoping when I sync my Touch to the new library it'll ask me to "Transfer Purchases" from the Touch to the library (which is the best scenario), but I'm *afraid afterwards it'll reload all the apps* on my Touch and all the application data stored within each apps, will be wiped.
