IPod Touch Web Browsing on TV

Is there any way to web browse from iPod touch to a TV? I have the correct cable and for video out and can watch Videos and You Tube but being able to view the web too would be awesome! Any ideas please?

I don't think you can.

i have some movies in my web gallery published from imovie08.
ipod touch safari will not display the movies panel of my web gallery, only the pictures panel.
however, i have a movie embedded in one of my picture albums which will play. so i know that it will
    show movies.
anyone know why the movies panel does not show?

To get pass the passcode lockscreen, recovery mode and restoring should help: iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
If the issue continues after updating and restoring your device, refer to this document.

  • IPod Touch Web Apps

I just got my IPT and was trying out some of the webb apps on designed for the touch and iPhone on the apple site. For some reason i cannot click the links on some of these pages as well as some other webpages have links that I am unable to click on. I was just wondering if anyone has tried out any of the web apps for the touch and If so, have you had any problems or which ones seem to work.
    Thanks in Advance.

Actually, when one time links stopped responding, I did a reset, and it fixed it.
Might save you some time if it happens again.
Holding the Home+Sleep button until the Apple logo appears.
Did it for me, but I'm glad you're running OK again.

  • Creating iPod touch/iPhone web sites with iWeb

I have a web site created with iWeb, i was woundering if it's possible to create a web site specifically for the iPod touch/iPhone platform . Or is there some tamplates in iWeb for creating iPhone/iPod touch web sites ?

Here's a site I created with the iPad in mind.
    http://ipad.dailynews.webege.com/
    I used a template from iWork's Pages.
Then I made a page setup for the width and height of the iPad screen : 1024x768 or rather 768x1024.
The paper size = 28,40 x 34,50 cm. The papersize is slightly larger because I had a background in mind but changed that later.
The display percentage is 100% so it will look the same as in iWeb.
I copy/pasted the objects from Pages to iWeb.
Then used the iPad simulator to view it. Hopefully it's the same with a real iPad.
See if you accomplish the same for the iPhone/iPod touch.

  • Shutting down Safari on iPod Touch

Why would anyone want to shut down Safari on the iPod Touch? Well, it's like this.
The WiFi network at the University where I work has a laborious and arcane log-in where it's necessary to shut down the browser after entering the username and password, and then restart it in order to gain access to the network and the Internet. I've managed to configure the proxy settings for this network, and enter the username and password into the incredibly tiny boxes. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to shut the browser down. If I switch to another application and/or power down the iPod Touch, the browser resolutely remains open to the last page viewed.
    Any thoughts?

Open a new empty page in Safari and close the original one. Then close Safari. Safari will re-open at the empty page.
(In fact, when you close Safari, you are in fact shutting it down - it doesn't remain running in the background. Safari just remembers the last page you were at and re-opens it when you re-open Safari).

  • IPod Touch/iPhone access to iTunes via WiFi store

We're currently working on RSS based solutions to deliver content out of our iTunes U store to students on campus using the iPhone/iPod Touch on campus.
I'm sure this has already passed through as a thread but...
Is there a possibility that we'll see iTunes U access delivered via the iTunes wifi store before the start of the next academic year (August '08)?
    Mark Leaman
    Bowdoin College

There are a few issues with accessing iTunesU content from your iPhone or iPod touch across your local wifi... Here are some of the solutions we're working toward at Bowdoin.
    *1. Ease of Access*
Let's face it... typing a fully qualified URL into Safari on your iPhone isn't fast, or easy if it is a long address. Using an apache redirect, we're redirecting 'itunes' locally on campus to http://www.bowdoin.edu/itunes. So, for an on campus user, simply entering "itunes" in their browser on their iPhone/iPod Touch will take them to our (soon to open) iTunes U mobile version site (if they are using the campus wifi).
*2. No iTunes U in Wifi Store*
Since iTunes U isn't accessible via the iTunes Wifi Store we had to get creative using the mobile Safari app. When a user lands at http://www.bowdoin.edu/itunes/ the page has a javascript redirect to detect if they're using an iPhone/iPod touch (sample script below). The script will redirect them to a "iPhone/iPod Touch"ized gateway on mobile Safari for accessing our iTunes U content via rss (pulled from "subscribe" button in an iTunes U course".
*3. No .mov support on iPods*
We have some .mov content that won't play on iPhone/iPod. We've adopted iPhone export settings in Quicktime as our ubiquitous format for iTunes U video content.
I've rigged a demo that you can try on your iPhone or iPod Touch Safari browser via: http://itunes.bowdoin.edu
You should be redirected to a page with three buttons linking to feeds provided from with our site in iTunes U. (Note: .mov content samples, such as Athletics, are broken due to the limitation of iPods not being able to play a .mov file.)
    iPhone/iPod Touch detect/redirect script:
    +<script language=javascript>+
    <!--
    +if((navigator.userAgent.match(/iPhone/i)) || (navigator.userAgent.match(/iPod/i)))+
    location.replace("iphone-version.shtml");
    -->
    </script>

  • I have an iPod Touch and am going on a cruise where I have been told that I won't be able to use Safari so I should download Firefox.  I found "Mercury Web Browser" Firefox at the app store.  Is this what I need? I'm leaving on Sept. 3rd.

I have an iPod Touch and am going on a cruise where I have been told that Safari won't work on the ship so I need to download Firefox. My iPod said that Safari cna't download it from the Firefox website.  I found "Mercury Web Browser" Firefox, in the app store (free) and am wondering if that is what I need?  Help, I'm leaving on Sept. 3/12.  Thanks.

    - I never heard that but it may be true. It could be that for some reason Safari can't be used to log into the network. Once logged in, Safari should work fine
    - However, I see nothing that say the Mercury Web Browser is Firefox. I would contact the cruise line and ask if and how you use the ship's['s wifi for an iPhone or iPad (it will apply to iPod touch)

  • Ipod touch stopping music randomly when browsing the web?

hey i'm able to browse the internet while playing music on my new ipod touch (16 gb) but usually after 5 min. the music just stops (as in abruptly). its quite annoying and maybe i'm expecting too much but is anyone else having this issue?

i'm not having that problem but it may be somthing that a software restore through iTunes could solve. If not then it may have somthing to do with the websites your browsing. If the sites arent compatable with the touch or have some file formats that are not compatable somewhere on the webpage it could be causing the touch to freeze up for a bit which would stop your music.

  • Cannot browse web on ipod touch even though it says i am connected ??

ok so i got the ipod touch 4th gen 8gb for christmas and it was perfect for like 2 days, i was connecting to my cousins wifi home internet with no problems and going on safari and app store, now i am back home and the only internet i have is a laptop with a pay as you go modem which is fine and works perfect on the laptop.
so i tried setting up a ad hoc network on my laptop so i could connect my ipod to the internet and it actually worked pretty good at first !
but now i am connecting to the network on the ipod and it says i have full signal yet when i go on safari or app store an error pops up "safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet"
hope som1 can PLEASE help ??
    thanks

**I have had my iPod Touch 3rd Generation 64gb for about a year. I went to stay at a hotel and I connected to their Wifi just fine. But, when I came back home the next day, my home Wifi wouldnt work. Previously, I had been connecting to my home Wifi, which it Linksys, just fine. When I came home, I "connected" to it again like normal, but then I went to Safari and it said*: +"Safari cannot open page because it is not connected to the Internet."+ *What really confused me is that up in the top left corner next to where it says "iPod" it shows the Wifi connected with full signal. My brothers have 3rd generation iPod Touches, also both 64 gb, and they are connecting to the home Wifi perfectly. I don't know if it was the hotel Wifi that somehow messed up my iPod, but it certainly isn't working at my house. I have restored my iPod, but i haven't yet "forgotten" the network or restarted my router. I have read other messages and that is what it seems like I should do. They have an apple store in my town and I am wondering if I should take my iPod there to see if I could get it fixed or replaced. I am just very glad that it seems like this is a common problem.*
*Thanks for reading and possibly trying to help in the future,*

  • My iPod touch 4th gen. Keeps giving me the error message "cannot connect to the app store when I sign in. I can open the app store and browse it but I can't download anything. I have full signal strength with my wi-fi and safari is working perfect.

My iPod touch 4th gen. Keeps giving me the error message "cannot connect to the app store when I sign in. I can open the app store and browse it but I can't download anything. I have full signal strength with my wi-fi and safari is working perfect. I turned it off and restarted it 3 times now. I have an iPad 2 and the app store works flawlessly with it. What is going on?

Same here on my lpad2. Can access the web just fine from browsers but cannot install new apps or updates in appl store.  Seeing a few others reporting same issue tonight so likely an apple server issue and staff will notice it in network monitors and fix it...sometime this weekend.

  • What causes my ipod touch 4g to become extremely hot when i play games or surf the web for more than 30 minutes?

my ipod touch 4g becomes very hot when play games or surf the web for more than 30 minutes. does any body know why?

Maybe the solution is that you iPod is slow is because you are not closing your apps after you use them. To do this you must:
    1. Press the Home Button to get out of that app
    2. You will return to the Home Screen
    3. Click the Home Button twice, (do this quite fast, But not TOO fast)
    4. A bar with all your apps that you have come out of will be on the bottom of the screen
    5. Hold down one of those apps
    6. They will start to "jiggle"
    7. A little red circle will be beside all of the "jiggling" apps
    8. Press that little red circle and those apps will close (NOTE: This is NOT deleting your apps)
    9. Now you apps are closed NOT deleted
    10. Your iPod will now speed up in: Browsing, downloading, syncing and much more
    11. (Bonus) - To DELETE an application do the same thing ( But not clicking the Home Button twice) and all of your apps which you downloaded will "jiggle" and there will be an black circle with an X in it, click that X to DELETE that app and a dialog will pop up and say: "Do you really want to delete this app?" If you want to: Click yes.
And that is how to speed up your iPod
Bonus) - is how to DELETE an App
    Thank You,

  • New iPod Touch connected to wifi but will not open any browser

I just purchased an I pod touch w/ the software upgrade included, but the touch will not connect to a web browser through safari, youtube, or any internet based channels. I use a belkin router which is showing up under the settings in my iPod Touch. The connection is a 15meg DL and 1 meg UL so I don't believe that speed would be a problem. Please Help

Despite the WiFi connection sign you may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPod a valid IP address when the iPod requested it. To check on this go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address shown starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix for this can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPod (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

  • IPhone/iPod Touch browser support

Probably not the right place to post but...
I get a pop up in Safari on an iPod Touch saying I have an unsupported browser. IE 7, Firefox, etc are supported. The project is using ADF components.
Web pages do work in Google's Chrome.
Where do I adjust for/add the target browser in JDev/WebLogic ?

    Hi,
The support for iPhone/iPod Touch Safari is in ADF Mobile, which as Shay pointed out requires the use of the Trinidad library. A view project intended for ADF Mobile cannot contain any reference to ADF Faces components. The general steps for creating an ADF Mobile application is as follows:
    1. Define your model project as usual, or simply re-use the same model project or application as your ADF Faces app.
    2. Create a new project - select a generic project. When prompted for project technology, select just "Mobile". This would bring over the necessary libraries for ADF Mobile, but nothing else.
    3. Create page flows and views as you would for any JSF application. You can use any Trinidad component available in the component palette.
The tutorial for creating a simple mobile app is at: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/11/cuecards/adf_set_51/ccset51_ALL.html
The short demo for creating a mobile app is at: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/viewlets/viewlet.html
Developer Guide for ADF Mobile also contains useful information, which is in the documentation area of ADF/JDeveloper.
Lastly, there is a sample application that contains a number of optimizations for smartphone browsers, including specific optimizations for iPhone. You can download the sample file at: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/wireless/adfm_new.zip. This sample app is designed to work with Fusion Order Demo. You can try to follow the tutorial above, and then use this project as a sample to enhance you app.

  • Safari on iPod touch will no longer open any web pages even after reset.

My iPod touch will no longer open any web pages via Safari. I am connected to WiFi and other apps work fine (mail for example). I connected to Itunes and did a reset - still no luck. S/w is up to date for this version of touch - 4.x.

  • How do I stop the Atomic Browser on my iPod Touch from allowing websites to automatically load my App Store app?

I have the Bejeweled Blitz app (for Facebooik) on my iPod Touch 4th gen.  If I want to find gems (special items used in Bejeweled) I have to use a browser (I'm using Atomic Browser) on my iPod so I can grab gems from Facebook's news feed.  What's SUPPOSE to happen is this:
I set Atomic on my iPod to identify itself as Safari mobile (because the Bejeweled Blitz app on the iPod only recognizes Safari).
I load my Bejeweled app on my ipod.
I log into Facebook with Atomic and scan the news feed for gems and click on a gem.Atomic opens a new tab and tries to load the link.My iPod then switches from Atomic to my Bejeweled Blitz app and the gem appears in my game.
When I'm done with the game, I double click Home and swtich back to Atomic.
I close the new tab and search the news feed for the next gem.
HOWEVER, the problem is this:  About two-thirds of the time, when Atomic opens a new tab to load the link, instead of my iPod swtching to Bejeweled Blitz, it opens my App Store app and takes me to the Bejeweled Blitz app download page.  Sometimes the problem occurs when I'm done with my game:  i.e., when I go back to the browser, the iPod swtiches from Atomic and loads the App Store app before I even have a chance to close the tab.  It's a big pain in the neck because it takes a long time for the App Store app to load and when I go back to my Bejeweled Bltz app, it acts like it got dumped from memory and has to restart.
So... How do I make it so that my App Store app ONLY loads when I personally select the app myself?

Covered in the settings section of the manual:
