IPod touch weird 'mark' under glass front

I recieved my Ipod touch yesterday after a long wait (stupid royal mail postal strike!) anyway i opened it up and did all the normal stuff like regestering and uploading all my music.... everything works fine! well id say AMAZING! it is so cool! i was so pleased when it arrived and was enjoying it until i took it outside and could instantly see a small 'blob' under the glass near the top left had corner - it looks like an air bubble and i cant think of any way of getting it out! so i was wondering if anybody has any ideas about
1) what it is.
2)what i should do - send it back to amazon.co.uk or contact apple?)
3) if it is a one of thing or a common occurance, has anybody else seen this before?
well if you can help it would be greatly appreciated!
thanks in advance aidan

What you are seeing is the small opening underneath the glass left open for the ambient light sensor.
It is normal. Every iPod touch model has this.
It's used for detecting the light surrounding the device, and adjusting the backlight of the display accordingly.

As with any other warranty for any other product, damage is not covered.
You would have ot pay for the repair.

i was on a trip and one of my hair products got on my ipod touch everything works but the front camera can i fix the front camera?

Did the iPod get wet by the hair product and probably cause a problem due to the liquid or is there some thing on the front camera lens that prevents the camera from seeing?  How does the camera not work?
If liquid damage I doubt YOU can fix it but you can have Apple fix it or a third-party place.  If lens is obstructed you may be able to polish the area.

  • My new ipod touch is recognized under devices but wont sync anything or show any of the ipod info when i click on it, my new ipod touch is recognized under devices but wont sync anything or show any of the ipod info when i click on it

My new ipod touch is recognized under devices when i plug it into my computer but when i click on it, all that shows up is the word ipod in the middle of the screen. it wont let me sync anything on it either.

It sounds like you need to set it up, and that makes sense because you said that its a new iPod. Just go through the steps of setting up a new iPod and you should be good.

  • My ipod touch is still under warranty but the screen has been cracked for about 1month but the wifi has recently started to play up and wont work will apple cover this and give me a refurbished one whern i go to my appointment at the genius bar??

my ipod touch is still under warranty but the screen cracked about 1 month ago and just yesterday my wifi on my ipod isw playing up and not working very well will apple give me a new one at my genius appointment?

Very likely not.   A bvroken screen is not covered by the warranty. It also shows abuse aht voaid the warranty for the entire iPod.  Howecver, sometimes the Genius will exchange it at no cost. Otherwise yu will have to pay $99, $149 or $%199 depending upon the capacity,

  • New iPod touch does nothing under Windows XP

I have been bought a new iPod touch to put all my existing CDs onto. We already have iTunes from a previous iPod, and on connecting the touch to the Windows XP machine, all I got was the "install new hardware" screen, asking for a CD, which of course, Apple dont provide.
I checked the support pages, and it recommended installing the latest iTunes. I attempted to do this, and it wiped my registry, passwords, and killed the wireless link. After spending a day re-setting all this, and finally installing iTunes again (10.5 I think), the same thing happens - connect the touch via the USB cable, and "install new hardware" appears requesting a driver from the Apple CD.
Again, been on the support site to find help, and the only article I have found is to use MSCONFIG to turn everything off. I did this, but (surprise, surprise) it doesnt work.
So I am now stuck with a half dead Windows XP machine that works with the old iPod, and an iPod touch that works with nothing.
Other than returning the iPod touch to the retailer, what options do I have ?

    Hi lllaass,
Sorry for the gap in replying.
Funny you should highlight that link, because it states on it that they dont expect a re-install to work under Windows, and ... you guessed it ... it didnt work !
I have tried re-installing it again and again, and I gave up. I kept getting a message that the previous install of iTunes failed, and that I had to complete THAT before I could un-install it - useful.
So, like I said, I gave up. I think re-installing for three weeks is enough.
    Thanks anyway.

  • How do I know if my iPod Touch is still under warranty?

I recently cracked my iPod Touch's screen and I need to know if it is still under warranty, as I bought it from Wal-Mart. It's a very minor crack, and the iPod still works perfectly, but any assistance will be taken with gratitude.

Cracked screens are not covered. You will need to pay to have that fixed.

  • IPod Touch weird dithering effect

    Hey all,
Don't know if anyone's encountered this, but my iPod Touch seems to be dithering images to oblivion. This is especially noticeable when you open the notes app, where instead of having a smooth background, it looks all speckled, as does the icon. The keys on the on-screen keyboard also exhibit the same effect, being speckled in areas with high contrast. Weird thing is, some third party apps don't seem to be affected. I've restored the software (v2.0.2), several times but to no avail. The first three Touches I've owned have not exhibited this (see below).
This is my fifth (yes, fifth), iPod Touch. I've managed to churn through four other faulty ones, and now I'm lumped with another. I'm pretty fed up with this, I've not managed to have a working iPod for even a week since I bought the original. The first had a bad battery, the second a broken accelerometer, the third was ridden with dead pixels, and the fourth had the same dithering issue. I'm starting to regret my purchase, a lot.
However, I digress! Any ideas on the problem I'm having? I feel it may be a software issue, but a software restore having no effect suggests otherwise.
    Any Ideas?
    Marcel

Thanks for the suggestion, however I actually got the guy at the Apple center to put the latest firmware on this one for me, before I went to pick it up. I've since tried at home with a different cable and another Mac, but no difference

  • IPod Touch has dirt under screen!!!

I got my first iPod Touch one month ago and I just recently got it replaced. The first iPod had quite a few specs of dust under the screen and the replacement one has the same problem. The replacement one has dust scattered all over the screen and there is some type of sand particle spot in the right top corner that makes it look like their are dead pixels. I looked at the screen under a microscope and confirmed that there are not any dead pixels. The spots I see under the screen are either some type of sandy material and or dust.
Is there any way to get this iPod replaced again with one out of box instead of them giving me one wrapped in PLASTIC!!!? Also, is there a way that I can get a refund on this item as it was a huge investment on my part. I don't want to have a product with a problem like this!!! I spent at least $420 on this iPod and it should not have a problem like this. I look at this part of the iPod every day, so it is a big deal! It is not a big deal if I get a scratch on the back. I look at the screen every day. I should expect for how much I payed for this, it should be FLAWLESS!
    Thanks for your interest,
    Timothy Z.

It is a normal occurrence for this to happen. At least every iPod comes with some dust under the screen. How much is under yours anyway. Apple only allows a certain replaceable amount of dust. If there are any damages to the iPod in any way, eg. scratches on screen or dents Apple will turn you down.
I know you are desperate for a new iPod. The iPod still works perfectly and you can use a matte finish screen protector to hide the dust and scratches you may have.
    Hope this helps,
    Timothy Z.

  • Does ipod touch 5g have gorilla glass screen

hi i want  to take my screen protect off but want to know if the glass is gorilla screen please help.

Apple only confirmed the use of it after the biography was released even for the iPhone and has never been listed in any of Corning's adds.
During a case we had the glass from from an original iPod Touch was analyzed and was identified as aluminosilicate glass. Logic would pretty well say they haven't dropped this and gone back to normal glass in the meantime.

  • How can I make my iPod touch 2G appear under "devices with removable storage"?

My ipod always appears under "portable devices" under "my computer". I use Windows 7. I want to know why it does not appear under "devices with removable storage". I manually manage its contents. Please give any suggestions that may help. Thanks!

    - Because via My Coputer yu can only access the the photos (DCIM folder) taken by or saved to the iPod. The iPod touch (and iPad and iPhone) do not have a disk mode like other iPods)
    - You need a third-party program like SharePod to access music w/o iTunes

  • IPod Touch Not Working Properly After Front Screen and Housing Replacement

So my son left his iPod Touch 4th Gen on my back bumper and it fell off out in our dirt/gravel driveway.  I finally found it, 7 days later, run over multiple times.  Front screen and back housing were demolished as you can see, but it still worked fine (except rear facing camera was done).  Ordered the rear camera, front screen and back housing assemblies off eBay from reputable sellers.  Took it all apart and reassembled it. Bada bing! Everything was working fine: camera, speakers, touch screen, wi-fi, all of it, for about 2 days .  It went from working perfectly, to being kinda glitchy (had to hold home and power to restart), to not turning on at all.  I read somewhere that if you don't clean all metal to metal contacts, it may interfere and not work properly, so I just took it (almost) all apart again, cleaned the contacts, and it turned on and was working, but this time only for about half an hour.  I've held down the home and power buttons for long periods of time, which sometimes got it to work, but now is not working at all.  Any ideas on what might be going on??? Is the screen bad?  Did I maybe miss a metal to metal contact (e.g. the power button, ribbon cable)?  Any really important ones that you can tell me about?  I really don't want to take it into the Apple store, but if I do, any ideas on a ruff guesstimate on what it's gonna cost me?  Thanks for any help!  I really appreciate it, I'd love to get this thing working for my 7 year old so I can have my d*** phone back!

  • IPod Touch Weird Accessory

I just bought an iPod Touch a week ago and came with all the necessary accessories -- the headphones, the USB connector, the iPod itself, the polishing cloth, the transparent stand, manuals and everything. It also came with this weird, white, dock or something. I don't know how to describe it. It's a white, oval thing. It looks like you can make the iPod Touch stand on it, but I can't make it work. It's like a holder, it has holes on the bottom, and, man i'm really confused. What is it? I can't describe it properly as I don't know how to use it.
This is not really a big deal, but if any of you guys can help me out on this I would really appreaciate it. THanks!

It's a dock insert. If, in the future, you should buy an Apple dock (or a dock from a third party that uses the same system), this insert would customize the fit of the dock for your particular model of iPod.
