Ipod touch will no longer turn on or charge.

Hi there, I recently restored my iPod touch and i didn't really watch the restore. I know the loading bar on ipod was nearly at end. Anyways, 10-15mins later i go to use my ipod and clicking the home button nothing displays.
I then try to turn on, yet nothing. So googling, i left the battery to completely drain if there is any.
I plug my ipod into my computer and nopthing happens, it does not wake up(turn on) or even charge. I have tried an Iphone wall charger, yet no response from my ipod touch as well.
So i kept googling and i found out about some DFU mode, there was lots of different combinations on the web, i tried them all, yet my ipod does not respon. No noises, notifications or anything in itunes(if itunes closed, does not open up!)
It has now been a good few days since it stopped working, and i cannot think is there anymore to do. It is still in warranty for a few months.
Only problem is, i do not think i;m entitled to phone support, and the nearest genius for me is hours away.
PS: my iPod touch was restored to version 3.2 (latest version if thats wrong <!-- )
I have itunes 9.1
Running windows 7 rc
I have tried my ipod also on the following:
My dual boot vista, another computer with vista and a Mac Pro.
Can anyone suggest anything or help me please?
Thanks in advance,
Malcom

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but a few miles from where i live is a shop called Cancom, that sells apple hardware. They are authorized service provider.
Do you think they will accept my ipod touch in for repairs/replacement?

  • My ipod touch will no longer turn on!  help!

I have followed every possible steps apple has suggested to reset and restore my ipod.  It started with forgetting my passcode and being disabled.  So i connected it to itunes as it suggested.  I updated, restored, and it went in to recovery mode, and thats the last i had seen my ipod on.  Now when it does turn on, it gives me the icon to "plug it in".  nothing more.  ive turned it off, turned it on, updated the software, reconnected it, changed security settings, you name it, an at first it no didnt recognise my ipod?
it just simply remains inoperable. someone please help, tell me there is hope and i understand if i have to lose my music, i can always start over.   my concern is why im repeating steps 1-5 over and over?  it just doesnt even turn off correctly.  Itunes continued to give me the option to restore it, and i went to the password help section, and to no avail.  Itunes now no longer even "pops up" as it reads to hold down the "home" button, as it was one of the many steps it suggested.
Im dying here, I dont understand how plain english, step by step directions, are no longer working.  my ipod doesnt even indicate the battery is charging when plugged in.
has the life of my ipod no longer exist with this software? is that a possibility?  its and oldie, but goodie, when ipods first came out.
thanks in advance for any one who can master this problem for me.  i dont have the money to get some tech over the phone to provide the same steps, i have already exhausted on my end.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iPod touch will no longer turn on.

I was using it and it was fully charged. I set it down and went to do something else. When I came back and tried to turn it back on, it wouldn't turn on. It won't connect to my computer or anything. If I plug it in, it will not charge either.

Try a Reset ... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
The Apple logo will Appear and then Disappear...
    Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds...
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the iPod On...
If that does not help... See Here:

  • My iPod Touch will no longer charge from a wall socket, only my computer. HELP!

My 4th generation iPod Touch will no longer charge from a wall socket, only my computer. I tried buying a new cable and USB charging socket (and I bought one made by Apple), but that did not fix the problem. I restored it from iTunes, hoping that would work as well, but that failed. I am at my wit's end. Can anybody here help me? I've bought new equipment, tried rebooting, restoring, etc. but nothing so far has proven successful. If anyone's got a solution, please help!
    Thanks!

All I can suggest is the standared fixes. It seems very strange
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. Bring the cable and Apple wall charger too.

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers

    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem
    Then try restoring again.

  • I recently discovered my ipod touch would no longer turn on. All it does is show the low battery sign, and that is if it's connected to a computer. No matter how long I leave it charging, it does that. Is there a way to fix it?

Hi, I recently discovered my ipod touch would no longer turn on. I've tried everything! All it does is show the low battery sign, and that is if it's connected to a computer. No matter how long I leave it charging, it does that. Is there a way to fix it? All I want are my contacts and my old calendar back. These did not sync with iTunes like my photos, music, and video. I can probably get an older, replacement iPod, but I don't want to have to readd all my important dates and reminders, as well as contact information. I guess I have two questions:
    1) is there a way to get my ipod to start working again?
    2) is there a way to get my old contacts and calendar back again?

    Try here:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
To get the calender and contacts back if you can't get the iPod working is to restore the new iPod from the backup of the old one.

    Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.
