Ipod touch will not turn on or charge

ipod touch 4th generation will not turn on or charge

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod touch will not turn on unless charged

    Hi,
I have reset my iPod, tried turning off and on again dozens of times but every single time I tried to open an app or attempt to play music when it isn't connected to my computer or plugged it shuts off and will not turn back on until I charge it again.
It is 100% charged and every time I take it off charge to turn on, the startup logo appears and switches itself off.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My ipod touch will not turn on or charge, and there is NO WAY to find the serial number to sort it out

Does anybody know what I can do in this situation?
I've had the ipod touch for over 3 years, was given as a gift, has never been badly damaged or anything.
It just won't charge at all -  I have tried leaving it plugged into the computer for hours, trying different cables. I left it plugged into the wall overnight, and still the dead battery icon is the only thing that comes up.
I have tried resetting and restarting it but nothing's happened. I've tried contacting Apple for support but they can't do anything without my serial number - which is too faded on the back of the product to make out. Obviously I can't find the serial number on the device as it won't turn on, I don't have any packaging for it left, and it won't connect to iTunes either. I've also looked at my devices in iTunes to try find it but it's not there.
Basically, I've tried pretty much everything the internet has suggested and it's not getting me anywhere.
I have no idea why this is happening and right now I'm at a deadend so please let me know if you have any further advice you can offer. Thank you!

I figured out that I just had to hold them down for a long time like 15 to 45 seconds. Then it finally turned on. You may have to do it a couple of time. But if this does not work send it in to the apple company they fixed mine completly free they even sent me a box to send it in. I hope my answer helps you fix it.

  • Ipod touch will not turn on and is not reading in the usb port

ipod touch will not turn on or connect to my computer

I just had a similar problem and tried all of the reboot techniques with no success. I knew it had to be a connection issue inside the iPod, and grasping at straws, I sprayed a little WD-40. I dried it off and let it sit overnight. Today at lunch I plugged it in to my wall charger and it began charging.
***FYI I know they don't recommend spraying WD-40 on your iPod, but it was a last resort for me. I was at the point of paying to send it in for repairs or throwing it away. I wouldn't try this unless you are ready to throw yours away too.

  • 2nd Generation iPod touch will not turn on

My 2nd Generation iPod touch will not turn on.  I have held the lock button down for up to 30 seconds and it remains a black screen.  When I put it on the charger, the screen usually shows the battery amount, but it will not do that either.  I checked the battery about 10 minutes before it began this, and it was about 75% charged.  There is no way it could be dead.  It will not even show the apple, as if it were powering on.

    - Connect the iPod to your computer.  If iTunes sees the iPod restore the iPod.
    - Next see if resetting the iPod will make the iPod visible so you can restore the iPod.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next see if recoverymode  will make the iPod visible.  For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

Error 11 is a strange one...if you search the discussions for error 11 you will get a number of hits but none with a real resolution other than getting the iPod to restore, which you have done.  And one person indicates this does not appear in the support data base...already found that out.
If you have restored, have a backup and can restore from that, you might try the update again, or wait for the next update whenever that comes out.
Not a very satisfactory answer but if it is working again...

  • My ipod touch will not turn on at all.

For some reason, my ipod touch will not turn on at all. It has no water damage, and for whatever reason, iTunes does not recognize it at all, and it will not turn on. I have even tried resetting it by holding the sleep button and home screen. How can I fix this?
