IPod touch with older Powermac G4

I have a Powermac G4 with usb 1.1 and 733Mhz processor. Is it possible to use the iPod touch without upgrading to a new Mac with usb 2.0? I am ok with slow syncing if that is all I will have to deal with until I can afford a new Mac.

I can't say how well or if at all it will work on the older 1.1 USB bus.
But, you may be able to buy a USB 2 PCI card cheaply which should work also.

You can't use the firewire cable from your computer to your ipod in order to synch it with the iTunes. So I use my usb cable that comes with my ipod touch to synch my music.

The only way is to jailbreak and download cracked apps, but I would recommend you wouldn't do that as this is piracy and jailbreaking is illegal in some countries.

Keep in mind that you can't drag and drop (transfer) songs from one iPod to another using iTunes either. The music you want to add from one iPod to the other, must be stored in your iTunes library first.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port

I have been trying to use the camera on my iPod Touch with FaceTime. Will it work? How do I sign in? When I click on Preferences the preferences window does not appear, and preferences in the drop down menu becomes greyed out. I am using an older Apple Cinema Display. Pairing an iPod touch to the computer to use the camera is not supported, but you can use any webcam that can be plugged into the computer.

New iPod Touch with January Update Restore Question

Hi,
Few days ago i bought new iPod Touch with 1.1.3 software and January Update.
When I restore it I'll lose my January Update programs ? And if that happened what can I do to get them back ?

It was mentioned already in this thread. If you look at the package check the seriel number. If it ends with /B then that is the new model and it has the new applications that were provided in the Jaunary update already programmed into the iPod. If you restore you will not lose them.
If it ends with /A then it is an older model that required the January Update in order to get the applications on your iPod. If you restore then you will lose them but you don't need to purchase them again as your iTunes will keep track of the purchase for you.

How do I install legacy apps on my iPod touch with iOS3.1.3?

I know this has probably been asked before, but I have an older iPod Touch with iOS 3.1.3, and this is the last iOS that could be installed. I am trying to load Pandora back onto it, I had it on before but I wiped the iPod when I loaned it to someone. Well, I am trying to re-load Pandora and it will not let me. It says my OS has to be updated, which it can't. I have read that when trying to download apps from the iTunes store it would offer the legacy app if you needed it. I am not getting that option. Am I missing something?

The legacy app method do not apple to iOS 3.1.3, only 4.2.1 and later,
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)

App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists
Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version.

Unless you downloaded and still have an older compatible version of the iBooks app somewhere (e.g. on your computer or on a backup) then you won't be able to use the app - only the current version of each app is available in the store.

Yes. You can sync an unlimited number of iDvies that you control to one iTunes library/account. If using the same iTunes library on the same comutr just make sure that yu go to the ap. music and other pane for the iPod in iTunes and select sycn selected items. Not the the whole library. That way each iPod can have it own contents.

As I've already said to get this far: I have lost a lot of tracks while syncing my iPod Touch with iTunes. I have managed to get free downloads of some of the single tracks, but when I try to download entire albums the system informs me that I have already purchased them and a pop-up window informs me I can get them back from my "Purchased" file. I would not be trying to dowload them again if they were anywhere on the iPod, would I? The other problem seems to be that with single tracks I don't know before I hit the purchase button if I have picked it from the right album and I have had to pay for it again.
I feel that I have been totally ripped off by iTunes and, apart from ranting on this forum, I don't seem to be able to let my feelings known. It's like a guy from my local record store coming round and nicking my albums and telling me that it's tough!
The point here is folks, that it was syncing two Apple sites which caused the loss of these tracks and from what I've read elsewhere this is a regular fault. And please don't tell me that it's my fault for having a pc. Apple shouldn't sell a product for pc, when it doesn't work on pc!

- Are they listed in your Puchases history when you log into your account on your computer?
- Are they still available now for purchase? If not then you are out of luck
