IPod touch won't recognize new security questions

I set my daughters iPod up using my email address.  She received an iTunes gift card which she wanted to use.  We redeemed it per the instructions on the back, and then she went to rent a movie.  At this point the device stated that since nothing had been downloaded on the device, I had to enter my Apple ID and password.  THEN, it asked me to answer 2 security questions, one of which I obviously did not know the answer to, or perhaps typed wrong when I was entering it.
I followed the instructions for resetting the security questions, and the one question it was asking me "Which is the least favorite car you have owned?" was not even one of the choices to BE changed.  I went ahead and changed all 3 of the questions and saved the changes.  Unfortunately, when I go back into iTunes on her iPod, it is still asking me the same 2 questions that it was prior to me changing them.
So, essentially, because I don't know what my least favorite car has ever been, my daughter will never be able to download anything onto her iPod touch.

  • IPod Touch Won't Recognize USB Cables

My 4th gen iPod Touch no longer recognizes my USB cables. They won't work through my computers and they won't work through a wall charger. My iPod charges fine through my JBL Sound Stage, it's just a problem with the cables. If I plug either cable into my iPod, nothing happens. No beeps, no messages, no charging screen, nothing.
I think I can pinpoint the problem until shortly after I purchased a spare cable, but that may very well be a coincidence. I've been using a third party wall charger, so that could be an issue as well- but it has never been a problem until after I purchased the new cable (can cables "burn out"?). I'd reset my iPod, but I need a cable to do that. So far I've just been charging via my JBL Sound Stage and syncing over WiFi.

If you have tried multiple computers and multiple USB sync cables, that definitely points to a hardware issue with your iPod Touch.  Have you check the dock connector port for any signs of damage or debris that could be blocking or preventing the connection?  Take a can of compressed air and trying blowing it out and using a Q-tip or similar to clean the contacts.
You'll likely need to have the iPod serviced or replaced.  If still under warranty, take it into your local Apple store and see what they can do for you.

  • IPod touch won't load new songs

My iPod touch won't add any more files, although there is plenty of space.  It gets stuck on "preparing to update."  What gives?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

What exactly happens when you connect the iPod to your computer and update via iTunes? Error message?
If the iPod is not responsive then:
    Try:

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Touch won't recognize Sonos

I am hung up in the Sonos Ipod Touch setup process. I installed Sonos client on my ipod touch. When it searches for a system to join and I press Mute+Vol Up on my zoneplayers, the ipod does not recognize my Sonos whatsoever.
    Here is my setup:
    Cable Internet to
    Motorola Cable Modem to
    Linksys Wired Router to
    Sonos
I plugged an Apple Airport Express into the Linksys Wired router and the internet works fine on my ipod touch. Again, doesn't recognize Sonos.
I called Sonos support on Friday and got what sounds like good advice: the Apple Airport Express needs to be configured as a bridge. I have searched forum after forum (many non-Sonos) and I just can't figure out how to make this work.
My configuration is not that unusual -- please help me!!! The main reason I got an ipod touch was to serve as another Sonos remote!
    Thanks in advance

Personally, I would retire the Linksys router and use your Airport Express as your primary router. Then if you need additional ethernet ports, you can setup your Linksys router as a bridge and use it as a four port switch (or you can just buy a 4 port switch really cheap).

  • My iPod touch won't recognize in itunes..

I have Version 4.1 (it's an older iPod touch). Whenever I plug in my iPod to the computer, it doesn't even pop up in the device manager list in iTunes.
       Any ideas?

    Try here:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Next make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • IPod touch won't recognize my password

All of a sudden, when I turn on my iPod touch & attempt to put in my password, I'm told the p/w is incorrect & it says to try again in 15 minutes.  I haven't changed the p/w since I got it, so what's going on?

Connect the iOS device to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iPod in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the iPod backup that iTunes makes.

  • My 4th gen iPod touch won't recognize the remote feature on earbuds other than Apple earpods - anyone else had this issue?

Apple earpods don't fit my ears well, so I bought a pair of Sony earbuds a few months ago. When they came, I noted that I could turn volume up and down, but the remote portion didn't work - couldn't pause or skip music. They weren't the highest quality so I assumed it was a fluke.
I just got a new pair of earbuds and same issue! The volume works but the remote does nothing. I tried to use my boyfriend's Apple earpods with my touch and the remote works fine. Also, the new earbuds I got work, remote and all, on his 4th gen Nano.
I can't seem to find anything online about why these earbuds that are supposed to be compatible wouldn't be working. I've cleaned out the audio jack so it's not a lint issue, plus it really does work just fine with Apple earpods, only alternatives don't work. And again, I can hear fine and the volume can be controlled but the remote to pause and play and skip isn't recognized at all.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

So just in case anyone else ever runs into this...
I solved the issue and it was that between the plug of the new earbuds being slightly thicker than the Apple earpods, and the width of the case that I was using for my iPod, there wasn't a connection being made to activate the remote function.
I took off the case and now the earbuds work exactly as they should!

  • I have an older Ipod Touch, I bought a new one and the Itunes on my computer is too old to recognize my new Ipod Touch and cannot be updated.  Is there a creditable software program I can use to get all my old music from my old iPod Touch to the new one?

I have an older iPod Touch, I bought a new one and the Itunes on my computer is too old to recognize my new iPod Touch and Itunes cannot be updated.  Is there a creditable software program I can use to get all my old music from my old iPod Touch to the new one?  It is my understanding that the music cannot be saved onto my new iTunes, b/c I did not have iCloud. I have over 2,000 songs I just cannot part with. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help some how!!  THANKS!

I had the same problem with my iPad, i couldn't get the newer version of itunes because the computer was too old and my iPad couldnt sync with the old itunes. I got a PC from school a few months later so that solved the problem for me. Unfortunately i don't think there would be a program to put your music on your iPod, iTunes should be the only way to transfer files to Apple devices. What operating system are you running and what version of it is it?

  • New ipod touch won't work with itunes 10.6.3 says it needs 11.1 but I cannot load that on my macbook using OSX 10.5.8 any way around this?

New ipod touch won't work with itunes 10.6.3, says it needs 11.1 or newer but I cannot load that onto my MacBook running on OSX 10.5.8 - is there anyway around this?

No. If your MacBook has an Intel processor you can update to OSX 10.6.8 and then install the latest iTunes.
A 5G iPod with iOS 7 requires that if you have a Mac you have OSX 10.6.8 or later.
    You can get 10.6.8 here:
