IPod Touch won't rotate to landscape after 3.1.3 update??

Please help me :(!
I installed the 3.1.3 update last night and ever since, when I turn my iPod horizontally it will not go into landscape mode in Safari or Music or anything. If i watch a video or use an app that requires it to be in landscape mode it works fine, it just won't turn at my will, I know I am turning it right.
I just bought a new iPod after my other one broke after two years of use and I have only had it two weeks!
Please help me out here.

Oh thank goodness. I thought it was just ME. My iPod is doing the exact same thing. If I use the youtube button it will rotate no problems, but any apps I have that are rotate sensitive won't work, and if I'm using Safari and try to use landscape, it won't turn. I've been looking for an answer for this ever since I noticed and can't seem to find anything about it. Last night I finally made a backup and did a system restore from it, but of course it restored it with the 3.1.3 update so fail again. Then I restored to factory specs and it still installed 3.1.3. My next try is going to be a system roll-back to 3.1.2 as soon as I figure out how to do that. If that fails and I can't get any help here, my only other solution might be to take it in to an apple store. The closest one to me is about an hour away I believe. ***** so bad.

  • My ipod touch won't respond. Shortly after I downloaded IOS 8, it quite responding. How can I get my pictures recovered?

My ipod touch won't respond. Shortly after I downloaded IOS 8, it quite responding. All I get is the Apple sign.  I connected to my computer and tried updating and was able to download the USB connection for the device but received an error when it tried to update the ipod. Is there any way to retrieve my pictures from the device before I try to recover? At this point my pictures are more valuable to me than restoring the device.  How can I get my pictures recovered?
Now it looks like I have the Apple with an line under it on the screen, but still not responsive.

  • IPod touch won't connect to computer after failed update?????

A few days ago, I had received a new cable to update my iPod touch from Amazon. This cable is not made by Apple. I have had two cables in the past from Apple, one that came with my 1st Generation Nano and one that came with my iPod touch. The former cable is the older version of the cable, while the latter is the newer version. A year ago the newer cable that came with the iPod touch broke. So I bought a new one from Apple. Then that one broke in June. Because I did not want to spend any money on a new one, I just used my old cable. It worked for a while until it stopped functioning. I have not updated my iPod touch until recently when I had purchased this new cable (which looks like the older version of the cable). It had updated my sister's 4 year old Video iPod and my 1st generation Nano. When I had plugged in my iPod touch with this new cable, my Compaq Presario V6000 laptop said it was syncing the iPod. But on the iPod screen it was saying the opposite. It was allowing me to use my iPod while Syncing it. Recently it has been doing that, when this iPod was brand new it was saying syncing, cancel to unsync. Now here is where the problem with my iPod has occured. So on the sync page on iTunes it said that there was a new update ready for my iPod. So I clicked update and allowed iTunes to download the software, extract the old software, and back it up. But in the middle of backing it up, it said my iPod was disconnected from my computer. When it was clearly connected to my laptop. I unconnected my iPod and reconnected. Now it said it was connected. It said I had to restore my iPod to its original settings and while it was doing so, it said that my iPod had disconnected again, while it was clearly plugged into the computer. Now my iPod won't even update at all. And every time I press the hold button it shows the symbol for itunes and the cable, meaning that I should be connecting to itunes, even though it is hooked up to the computer but not being recognized. The cable works though, because right after this I had updated my Nano to see if the cable was broken. I forgot to mention that similar problems with connecting and disconnecting occurred with the other plugs to, but not to this extent. Can anybody please help me solve this problem? Could it be the cord? My ipod? My laptop(I would say that it is my laptop's fault, seeing that it is a piece of garbage. But I tried connecting my iPod to my sister's macbook pro and it did not work either)? Would you recommend me to just bring my ipod, the new cable, and my laptop to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store and ask them in person??
*Sorry if some of the wording does not make sense. If you need any other information ask me. I want this solved as soon as possible.*

Could there be a problem that is happening to my ipod right now that is not associated with a usb cable problem? I want to avoid buying a new cable until I eliminate all other problems that I could have. If it is not a cable problem I don't want to spend money on something that is not necessary at the moment.
By the way, by following your advice with my current cable, iTunes recognized my iPod, and said you must restore this iPod before you can use it with iTunes. I clicked on restore. It extracted the software and once that was done it said Preparing iPod for restoring. It started to do it but then it said "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (13)."

  • IPod touch won't connect to iTunes after update

I updated my iPod touch but now it won't connect to iTunes, all I get is the connect to iTunes screen. I followed all the directions for the Apple support including shuting down my iPod, uninstalling all Apple programs from my computer, restarting my computer and reinstalling iTunes, as well as "using Msconfig to troubleshoot conflicts in Windows 7," but nothing has worked. Is there anything else I can do?

This is a step they should make MUCH easier to find for Ipod users. Here's the link: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538?viewlocale=en_US
I don't know how directive the link is, but the short and easy of it is this:
    1. Go to your device manager
    2. Click 'View' and select Devices By Connection
    3. Make sure ACPI x64 (or 32) - based PC is expanded (Windows 7 users)
    4. Scroll down until you see 'USB Composite Device'
       - you should see Apple Mobile Device (recovery mode) in there or something similar
    5. Right click the composite device and choose Update Driver Software
    6. DO NOT automatically install software; choose 'browse my computer' instead
    7. Choose to pick from a list of devices on your pc
    8. Click "Have Disk" and browse your computer to this address:
         C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
    9. Double click the usbaapl.inf file (it may have 64 next to it)
    10. Click OK and continue the install process, including the 'Restore step when iTunes opens...AND THAT'S IT!!
Your iTunes will take all the appropriate steps (5-10 minutes) to restore your iPod. If I missed anything let me know. Otherwise, pass this on to your friends as Apple has made it inherently difficult to hunt down. Good luck!!

  • Ipod touch won't go to landscape format, help?

I use to have it locked in the locked portait position for a year and now that I have turned the lock off, it won't turn to landscape.
Will I have to restore it? Should I restore it from backup or restore Ipod?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • IPod Touch won't turn on even after home + sleep button fixes

My six-month-old ipod touch (2nd gen, 8G, not jailbroke, not water-damaged) won't turn on. No response at all, just black screen. The computer doesn't notice it's been plugged in. I've tried the following recommended fixes:
*plugging it in for several hours in case it's just a dead battery.
*holding down the home button (for at least 60 seconds), with and without it being plugged in to the computer
*holding down the home button and the sleep button (for at least 60 seconds) with and without it being plugged in
*holding down home (or home + sleep) and then connecting it to the computer while holding the button(s) down
Is there anything else I can try before I brave the rush of post-holiday shoppers and head out for the Mac store?

    Try the remaining mitems here.

  • My iPod touch won't hold a charge since 1.1.3 update

After the 1.1.3 update, I purchased the iPhone apps for my iPod touch and also added 6 webpage addresses to my home screen. There is two pages on my homescreen. I also added two email accounts, one using yahoo, and one using msn, going through izymail. since the update, my iPod won't hold a charge at all. I haven't really used it yet, but once or twice during the day I check my mail, and other than that it is off. They battery constantly drains, If it is full, it will lose batter life in about a day, just sitting on my night stand turned off. No music or videos are left playing. Is something with the update or my iPod, can I fix it? Oh, I change it from an apple usb wall charger, and I got my iPod at christmas.
    Thanks

You say your turning it off does that mean you are holding in the sleep button and sliding the unit off or does it mean you are just locking the unit with the screen off?
If you have the Wifi enabled and only have the IPT in standby mode then this is why it's depleting the battery so quickly. Charge the unit till it's full with the little plug showing and then eject it and turn off wifi and leave the unit in standby overnight and see if the battery depletes at all.
I've noticed that Wifi really ***** the life out of the battery very quickly so give it a try and report back to us.

  • IPod touch / iPhone: Smart Playlists empty / missing after 3.1.3 Update

    Dear all,
the following problem is very persistent and it happened to me and a friend of mine (iPod touch / iPhone), in both cases, smart playlists created in iTunes (Mac), latest version, are home to several tracks. These tracks are being transferred to the iPod/iPhone - but the playlist doesn't show up or is shown as empty (both cases happened). The tracks are on the iPod/iPhone if you select them manually.
Re-Creating the playlists helped, but this is not the solution as the problem pops up with other playlists after having done that (however, the re-created playlists work).
The iPods/iPhones have been reset, freshly installed etc., music has been taken off completely from them - the problem remains / comes back.
It seems as if 3.1.3 has a problem with smart playlists and dubious one at that. Annoying at the very same time.
I'm a bit disappointed about having wasted several hours of my life on this problem, that is not what I expect from Apple. :/
    Any permanent solutions out there?
    Alex.

    "Some sort" of solution.
So after having dabbled with Apple's attempt for a solution, I seem to have found one that seems(...) to work for me when it comes to audio books:
    - create a new smart playlist
    - filter the current cd "Terry Pratchett (Disc 2))
    - counter is 0
    and(!)
    add:
maximum of X hours, sorted by NAME... that actually did the trick.
Of course, you need one more thing: you have to add the track's name to the name of the audio track... (see Doug's apple scripts for that script).
Honestly... I'm a bit disappointed that I had to become smarter than Apple. Don't you want to give me a job, guys?

  • IPod touch practically will not do anything after 1.1.5 update was installe

Ok, so i have a first gen iPod touch which was running off the 1.1.1 firmware since i first got it, but i recently upgraded it to 1.1.5 and a few major errors occured.
    1. it appears to have wiped all my music/videos off there, as when i try and access either of them it takes me to a blank screen for about 2 seconds then back to the home screen, yet it still says capacity available is only 145mb??
    2. the ipod will not connect to my PC or laptop via itunes. it does however charge when attatched to the computer.
any suggestions as to what is going on?? any help would be appreciated!!

Try running the iPod reset utility to restore your iPod. Here's how:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1238
I'm not sure what major errors occurred but when you try this again, turn off your anti-virus and firewall while you do the update.

  • IPod Touch no longer working with Nike  after 4.3.2 update.

I updated to 4.3.2 about a week ago and immediately afterwards my itouch was not able to pick up the Nike+ sensor when initiating a run (during the "walk around to start the sensor" part).  I even went out and dropped 20 bucks on a new sensor at Best Buy because my initial thought was the battery died since I've been using it for about 2 years.  When I went to pair the new sensor I was surprised to see the itouch finding "multiple sensors" and still pickign up on my old one, so I had to go to a seperate room to pair the new one.  I thought all was right in the world, but the next morning again it would not find the signal to start the workout.
I also did a factory reset, but still nothing.
What's going on? Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me?

I was also having this problem with my Kenwood car stereo. I went into the store and they did a complete restore. I didn't think it worked but the next time I plugged it into my usb to connect with my car stereo it worked. So you might try doing a restore.

  • HELP! my work ipod touches won't synch with Exchange anymore after the 5.1.1 upgrade

HELP! my work ipod touches won't synch with Exchange anymore after the 5.1.1 upgrade

I may have solved it from another post....the "sync music" tab wasn't clicked under "Summary/Music".  I had recently downloaded a more recent version of iTunes, and it may have defaulted to that....sigh.....

  • TS1398 my ipod touch won't join the wifi network even after entering correct password. it just keeps trying to join but I can't use internet

My home wifi is working for all my other apple devices but my daughter's Ipod Touch won't connect. It recognises the network and attempts to join it as usual but it just keeps 'trying' without actually connecting. Have switched on and off, renewed lease, reset networks etc - basically everything I can think of but no luck. Any help much appreciated.

Try restarting your router, if you are still having problems try resetting your network settings.  Go into your settings>reset then tap reset network settings.

  • Ipod touch won't connect to computer, windows 7, and itunes, and won't charge on my computer

Whenever I plug in my ipod touch to my computer, NOTHING HAPPENS.There is no "bleep" sound, nothing shows up under my computer, nothing shows up in itunes, and my ipod touch won't even charge. How can I fix this?
I have tried many things to fix this issue, including reading and doing everything listed under "iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows".
    I have:
    - deleted itunes and reinstalled it
    - reset my ipod touch using the home and power key
    - tried fixing drivers
    - using a different cord
    - using a different computer (my ipod touch won't even show up on any other computer)
    etc.
And yet my ipod touch still will not connect to my computer or itunes, and will not charge on my computer. It charges fine in the wall, though.
I have more information that I believe may be integral to fix this issue:
    - My ipod touch is up to date with iOS 8.0.2
    - My itunes is up to date with version 11.4
    - I tried to connect my ipod using bluetooth, and it shows up like this
(other than this, it won't show up on my computer at all)
    - After I had updated my ipod touch and itunes and even synced my ipod (which had worked fine), I had then put a facebook app and facebook message app on my ipod touch, which after I had done that the next day I noticed that my ipod touch would not even show up on my computer at all (so I deleted the apps) and yet the problem is still persisting.
    - I installed iCloud on both my ipod touch and my itunes
    - Other than what I stated, I have not made any changes to my ipod touch.
In my device manager, NO APPLE PRODUCTS/DRIVERS SHOW UP ANYWHERE
The only place that apple mobile device show up at is here -
I've even tried to reset/stop/set to automatic the Apple Mobile Device here, and still it does not help.
Someone please help me. I've provided much information, so some assistance would really be appreciated. If I need to provide more information, please let me know.

You can try going to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and setting and then try setting up via iTunes. If still problem then set up via wifi and go to an Apple Store
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
