Ipod touch...won't send mail
I can receive mail, both through .mac account, & verizon.net. I can send through my .mac account, but not verizon. verizon is the account I constantly use, on my imac...and would like to be able to use it on my ipod touch. when i click send, I get this message: Cannot Send Mail. The connection to the outgoing server [email protected] failed. Additional Outgoing Mail Servers can be configured in Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
I have tried 'every which way' and no success. Any solutions?

Hi
I am having problems sending emails when using my ipod touch with wi-fi abroad. When at home my ipod touch receives and I can send emails through my home wi-fi system but when away and logged into other wi-fi networkcan only receive emails and not send them. Internet access is fine when abroad.
I am assuming that this is to do with the outgoing server but this is only a guess!
I am not very techy so any ideas how to resolve this problem would be gratefully received.
Thanks
KeithGHSeems like the other networks are blocking you from sending emails.
Do yo have more that one email account on the iPod?
Have you tried sending from another account? -
My iPod touch will not send e mail. Can someone help?
My iPod touch will not send e mail. I have tried for months now and have no success. It connects to many different wifi networks with no problem it even receives e mail but it will not let me respond or send newly composed e mail.
Can someone help me out?Hey,
Who is providing the email account? Most email accounts provided by Internet Service Providers will only let you send emails when connected to the Internet over their connection.
You can try entering your email address on the iPhone Mail Setup Assistant, if its a common provider the settings will be displayed.

You must arrange with them for the return of your Touch. They will issue a case number and send you a box and pre-paid shipping label to ship the Touch to Apple. When it is done they will ship it back to you pre-paid. -
My ipod touch won't connect to the wifi network?
Hello,
My ipod touch won't work upstairs in my house. It is a 32gb 3rd generation and you have to stand close to the router. My family has two other ipod touchs and both of them work up in my room. I need help on how to mak it so my iPod works. I have reset the network settings 5 times and I have restored it once. Neither of them work. I have had it since 2009 and i got the wifi router in February 2011. It worked until March break when I went to my friends house and my iPod wouldn't work unless I stood bside her laptop. there was 3 other iPod touchs that worked fne though. Can I get viruses on my iPod touch?? Please helpHere's how I solved my connection issues (I got this from doing online research):
Manually Configure Your Network: From DHCP tab, tap the STATIC tab at the top. You will be presented with 4 fields to fill in:
Field 1 is the IP Address. This address is for your iPod and it needs to be corret inorder to connect to the network. You need to know the address of your router in order to fill this field in. If you have a home network router, chances are your router address is something like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 (you need to find this in your router's manual). Set your iPod's IP address to something like 192.168.X.150 (X= the 3rd number in your router's address).
Field 2 is the Subnet Mask. Most likely, your Subnet mask will be 255.255.255.0 (as long as your router's address begins with 192.168.X.X).
Field 3 is the Router Address. This address is given to you in your router's user manual. Some manufacturers even have it written on the bottom or back of the router itself. Most likely, it will be either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 (confirm with your user manual). This address is also called the Default Gateway.
Field 4 is the DNS address. If the above fields are correctly set, these should be determined automatically. However, if they are not, you will need to get this (or these) address(es) from your Internet Service Provider. You may also obtain this information from http://opendns.com (free service).
When I first tried this procedure, I could only receive mail and not send. Later on, I could send but not receive. After a few calls to my ISP (they said they were having problems with the internet) and a lot of entering and re-entering the information, I finally gave up and early the next a.m. I input everything again and all of a sudden I was hooked up!
My ISP never could tell me why I couldn't get a connection.
P.S. The port I used was 25.
Good Luck! -
My iPod touch won't let me download any apps. .
My iPod touch won't let me download any apps. Any time I try it sends me to a billing screen. I enter my information and it wnt accept it. Been doing it for over a month. Even with free apps. Very frustrating please help
It appears that there is something incorrect with your billing information. You need to correct it. For a standard account you need a valid payment method even for free apps. You can however create a new account that is only good for apps by:

Brand new iPod touch won't do anything over WiFi
My iPod touch arrived in the mail this morning and since I charged it up it either a) browses extremely slow in Safari and then quits or b) continues to claim there is no network connection.
I currently have it downgraded to WEP and now nothing works, Mail, Safari, not even the Weather app will update. YouTube has never worked at all.
I'm on 2.1.1 software and have since discovered this forum is full of WiFi problems. Needless to say I am very dissatisfied with this and had I known the iPod touch is absolutely useless for WiFi I would've saved $100 and just got a nano instead.Hi. I read through this thread and many others (seems many people have problems connecting iPod Touches to the internet) and have tried to connect my iPod touch. I have a Linksys WRT5G V8 router, a Zyxel -600 Series modem, a PC running windows xp, and a MacBook. My PC and Macbook run fine. My iPod touch does not.
I have updated the firmware. I have made a full bridge connection. I have restored my iPod. I have power cycled the modem and router.
If you will bear with me, I will now post what my setting are on my router with the hopes someone will be able to help me make a connection with my iPod. I should point out that like others, I am able to connect to the internet, but not download any pages or send/receive mail.

So....by looking at the above, can someone please tell me what to do to make the iPod touch connect to the internet and download pages?
I have spent hours upon hours and then more hours trying to make this thing work. I paid and additional fee to Linksys to have them troubleshoot the problem but the first guy i spoke with said I had to do the bridge connection so we hung up and when he called back, I was out and he never called back so I called Linksys. Despite the fact that I explained how I had spoken with an advanced tech, the man would not transfer me and insisted my problem was solved because my pc, laptop, and iPod did connect to the network -- never mind the fact that 1 of the three didn't work properly which was the sole purpose of my phone call to begin with.
I would really like to get the iPod going -- my daughter just bought her's and is anxiously looking forward to being able to use it.
In closing, I'm wondering if I should give up with this particular router and buy a new one...but which new one? The Apple tech recommended either an Airport Extreme or Airport Express -- has anyone had success connecting these to iPod Touches?????
Thanks! -
My 1st generation Ipod touch won't turn on at all and whenever I press the buttons to reset it all I get is a white screen, or a white screen with black lines across.Help pleaseeeeee!
You can work through the five 5 R's of troubleshooting to rule out the possibility of corrupted software.
http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.
http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity. A third party service will actually replace the damaged part for a little less. Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

My 4th gen iPod Touch won't charge
Hi, folks:
Suddenly, my 4th generation iPod Touch won't charge. I don't mean it won't hold a charge; I mean it WON'T charge. There's no (peep!) when I attach it to a Mac, a Windows box, or to the wall. I've tried not only at my place but at my doctor's office, too, on his computer. Rats.
It fell three feet onto a concrete floor a week before this happened, so I'm unsure of cause/effect there. However, chances are most excellent that I touched it while filled with static electicity (my bed is exceedingly staticky). Maybe I touched the charging port? I have no idea, but I kinda sorta have a memory of having gotten a shock while touching my pod and wondering whether that was bad.
It'll be a couple more days before I can get to a Genius Bar (but thank cow I'm in New York City and have my pick of them!). In the meantime, can anyone calm me down about my situation? Do you imagine it's doomed (it IS still operable provided I keep it plugged in, though iTunes can't see it since it won't mount), or do you spose the installation of a new battery might bring my precious baby back to me? It IS freshly backed up (again, thank cow!), but I'm not in a position to buy a new one right now, and unfortunately, I don't know what to do with my eyeballs without a Touch in front of them.
Oh, how I hope someone can tell me that this has happened to him, and an Apple Genius merely did something magical and handed it back intact and amazing again so Ican cry happy tears. It's been four days and I'm just sick without it (and having to look at this gigantic Mac, with its large and beautiful text in many windows, means I can't RECLINE! WAAAAH!).
Thanks for any soothing words you have, and if you have sad ones, well, I'll vag up and read them, as I've prepared for the worst anyway (sob!). Just please deliver them gently.
I appreciate it!Wow, Kevin; that's a tantalizing theory! I don't like it (I *never* like to think about logic board damage for any piece of hardware), but it's tantalizing, as it would explain my pod seemingly charging out of thin air, and it'd also explain why my pod doesn't just DIE altogether from a dead battery.
I feel like an idiot: I have iTunes set to never sync automatically with my pod, so it never automatically recognizes the pod. I'll bet I could sync it if I clicked to "apply," as I've been downloading new apps since 2/21 (the last time I backed the pod up, mere minutes before it failed), but I don't want to risk not having a connection that's 100% and bollixing up what's on the pod now. (I'll be in the hospital for a day and will need something to read the whole time; I'll need an intact pod!)
Thanks for sticking with me, Kevin; I always like figgering things out, and your theory's interesting. I'll mention it to the Genius. It doesn't give me any hope, but not having any hope, I can always be pleasantly surprised, whereas if I go in all hopeful, someone can dash my dreams. This way, I'll prolly just have my expectations met.
I appreciate your talking it out with me a lot! -
Help! My iPod touch won't let me download any apps. A message keeps coming up saying "This Apple ID cannot be used for the iTunes store. Please enter another Apple ID" I changed my ID to see if that would work but the same message still comes up.
Where are you physically located?
What country's Store are you using?
The two have to be the same and the payment method for your account also has to be associated (billing address, where iTunes gift card was purchased) with that country.
Has the ID(s) worked before for purchases for this country's store? -

My ipod touch won't respond. Shortly after I downloaded IOS 8, it quite responding. All I get is the Apple sign. I connected to my computer and tried updating and was able to download the USB connection for the device but received an error when it tried to update the ipod. Is there any way to retrieve my pictures from the device before I try to recover? At this point my pictures are more valuable to me than restoring the device. How can I get my pictures recovered?
Now it looks like I have the Apple with an line under it on the screen, but still not responsive.Check for hardware issues
Related errors: 1, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1000, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
These errors mean that your device or computer may have a hardware issue that's preventing the update or restore from completing.
Check that your security software and settings aren't preventing your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Confirm that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

New ipod touch won't work with itunes 10.6.3, says it needs 11.1 or newer but I cannot load that onto my MacBook running on OSX 10.5.8 - is there anyway around this?
No. If your MacBook has an Intel processor you can update to OSX 10.6.8 and then install the latest iTunes.
A 5G iPod with iOS 7 requires that if you have a Mac you have OSX 10.6.8 or later.
You can get 10.6.8 here:

Whenever I plug in my ipod touch to my computer, NOTHING HAPPENS.There is no "bleep" sound, nothing shows up under my computer, nothing shows up in itunes, and my ipod touch won't even charge. How can I fix this?
I have tried many things to fix this issue, including reading and doing everything listed under "iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows".
I have:
- deleted itunes and reinstalled it
- reset my ipod touch using the home and power key
- tried fixing drivers
- using a different cord
- using a different computer (my ipod touch won't even show up on any other computer)
etc.
And yet my ipod touch still will not connect to my computer or itunes, and will not charge on my computer. It charges fine in the wall, though.
I have more information that I believe may be integral to fix this issue:
- My ipod touch is up to date with iOS 8.0.2
- My itunes is up to date with version 11.4
- I tried to connect my ipod using bluetooth, and it shows up like this
(other than this, it won't show up on my computer at all)
- After I had updated my ipod touch and itunes and even synced my ipod (which had worked fine), I had then put a facebook app and facebook message app on my ipod touch, which after I had done that the next day I noticed that my ipod touch would not even show up on my computer at all (so I deleted the apps) and yet the problem is still persisting.
- I installed iCloud on both my ipod touch and my itunes
- Other than what I stated, I have not made any changes to my ipod touch.
In my device manager, NO APPLE PRODUCTS/DRIVERS SHOW UP ANYWHERE
The only place that apple mobile device show up at is here -
I've even tried to reset/stop/set to automatic the Apple Mobile Device here, and still it does not help.
Someone please help me. I've provided much information, so some assistance would really be appreciated. If I need to provide more information, please let me know. You can try going to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and setting and then try setting up via iTunes. If still problem then set up via wifi and go to an Apple Store
For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store -
New iPod Touch won't sync with computer - have latest version of iTunes and Snow Leopard (10.6.8). Computer won't even acknowledge the iPod. Have restarted both, changed ports, etc. What's do I need to do?
Have you tried here:
