Ipod touch won't sync to mac

I get an error message

Insecure Startup Item Disabled.
"/Library/startupitems/HP Trap Monitor" has not been started because it does not have the proper security settings.
I went to a number of apple help resources that told me to take certain files out of the library and put them in the trash but some of them weren't even in the listing!
No matter how many times I restart, this keeps coming up.
And my iPod touch wont sync but my iPod nano will

I just got a new iPod touch, & it says to plug it into my computer & iTunes will come up. But it hasn't. iPhoto has come up instead! I am extremely confused, & this has never happened before [I've had 2 iPods before this] I've searched the website & called the people, but they don't know what is wrong. Please help!
It is also completely charged. Plus, I have manually opened iTunes myself & still nothing has happened.
If anyone has any ideas, then please contact me at ZOMGCarina at aim dot com
Email or IM is fine. I also have MSN, ZOMG.Carina at hotmail dot com. Same thing goes for that one as well. I will most likely forget the link to get back to this, that it why I'm offering my screen names. Thanks in advance. :] <3

I assume you are using a Mac. To stop iPhoto from opening automatically, open "Image Capture" in your applications folder. Go to Image Capture -> Preferences -> Camera and set it to read "when a camera is connected, open No Application." You can still use iPhoto by starting it yourself.
Plug in your iPod again. Make sure you are using a USB 2.0 slot directly on your computer, a USB hub should not be used.
If you start iTunes and it doesn't show your phone, you might need to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service. Check out this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747 for instructions.
PS: You'll get a lot better advice here if you go to "My Settings" in the box to the right under the Welcome and fill out some information about what model computer and what operating system you have.

    - Have you tried a reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - NextI would restore from backup.

  • My daughters iPod touch won't sync, says apps aren't recognized, nothing syncs though

iPod touch won't sync at all. Only message is that some apps aren't recognized.  If I reset, will it sync? Or will she have a blank iPod because the "apps aren't recognized"?

Use the communities search box in the upper right of this page and searc for: "the apps can't be determined". Use the quote makes and make sure the wording matches what the error message says.
You will then find the previous discussions with the same error.  I do not remember the solution.

  • IPod Classic won't sync to Mac

My iPod Classic 160 GB won't sync to Mac snow leopard, running iTunes 10.5.1. It was fine until I tried to mount my Mom's iPad2 and her iPod Classic 80 GB so that I could load content onto her devices.  Note: both her devices are attached to my iTunes account, so loading content from my account is legit, even though it apparently sent my own iPod into a tailspin.
Now, even in disk mode, iTunes won't recognize the iPod.  It simply shows up on the desktop.  I have tried the four or five "Rs", but as the device doesn't show in iTunes AT ALL, I cannot restore it.  The iPod-based reset solves nothing.
I purchased my current iPod a few months ago to replace an older iPod classic which gave up the ghost after exhibiting some of this behavior.
    Help!

Someone please help me before I go potty!
I am having a similar problem to "Bluebell"'s. Suddenly over the last couple of weeks my iPod Classic 160GB (which has been working fantastically since I bought it 2 years ago) has been acting up. Without going into the total history, the result is that now, when connected (and even though the window on the iPod tells me the device is connected), the iPod icon does not show on the desktop of either of my Macs nor does the iPod show up in iTunes. I have reset the iPod dozens of times and searched high and low on Google for helpful suggestions, but with no luck.
I breathed a sigh of relief when I read your suggestion, Bilbo_cheshire, and tried it immediately, but sadly it doesn't work. This is what Disk Utility tells me:
Verify and Repair volume “Nigel & Lau's iPod”
    Checking Journaled HFS Plus volume.
    Checking Extents Overflow file.
    Checking Catalog file.
    Invalid sibling link
    Rebuilding Catalog B-tree.
The volume Nigel & Lau's iPod could not be repaired.
Error: Filesystem verify or repair failed.
I can see that Disk Utility gives me the options of "Erase" and "Restore". Should I take either of those routes?

  • New iPod Touch won't sync reminders

New iPod Touch - iCloud not syncing contacts, calendars, reminders, bookmarks.  Restarting apps or device does not help.

Are you trying to sync these with another iOS device?  If so, are you signed into the same iCloud account in Settings>iCloud?
Also, did you check icloud.com from your computer to see if your data is there?

  • Ipod Touch won't sync after updating iTunes

I updated my iTunes and now my ipod touch will not sync, it says that the ipod is synced with another iTunes library when it is not, is there a way to get it to sync?

With all the synced media like apps and music in your iTunes library do the following:
    - Make a backup in iTunes by:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup. The above link includes that restore from backup instructions.
Somehow updating iTunes caused iTunes/iPod to think it was not synced to this library. That happens sometimes.

  • Ipod touch won't sync to itunes with OS X 10.6.3 I just installed

I just installed OS X 10.6.3 (snow leopard) and now my ipod touch is not syncing to itunes. Any ideas why?

Is your problem that you do not see your iPod in iTunes? If that is the case try these:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3540
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591
Also, make sure you update to the latest iTunes and Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard is now up to 10.6.5 and you said you only have 10.6.3.

  • New iPod Touch won't sync with iTunes as iTunes hangs

    Hello,
I got a new iPod Touch yesterday after my old iPod Video died. Brought it home, connected it and all seemed fine until iTunes (that had worked flawlessly for years) just stopped (app stops responding).
I can kill the app and restart and it just starts over again, but never gets all the way thru sync.
I looked for a newer version but says I've got the latest.
Any suggestions? Don't suppose I can sync via WiFi?
    thanks,
    Chris

Hey Chris, I got this off iPhonenano.net
Occasionally your iPhone or iPod touch starts syncing when you connected it to your Mac only to drop out of the sync process. Even worse, once the cycle stops, it continues every time you plug your handheld in. This fix is fairly easy, but you won't find it in iTunes. You'll know know if you are suffering from this little headache because your iPhone or iPod touch will begin the sync process, but stops unexpectedly. iTunes will display a dialog warning you that your handheld stopped communicating and the sync process was cancelled. Here's how to break the cycle so and sync as normal again:
Connect your iPhone or iPod touch to your Mac/Pc
After the sync process fails, launch iSync. You can find it in your Applications folder.
    Select iSync > Preferences.
Click the Reset Sync History button.
iSync will display a dialog explaining what happens when you reset the sync history. Go ahead and click the second Reset Sync History button.
    Quit iSync.
Now you should be able to sync your iPhone or iPod touch again without any hassles. Since your sync history has been reset, your first post-rest sync may take longer than you expect. Depending on how much information is stored on your handheld, that could be a few extra seconds or several minutes.
    Hope this helps,
    Arnie

  • IPod Touch won't sync, false "this cable or accessory is not certified" and several other errors

Helping my dad long-distance with his iPod Touch 5th generation, running 8.1.1.
He's having several problems trying to sync the thing:
    1) "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with your iPod" error, even though he's using the cable that came with the device, when connecting to his Mac. (This happens with both certified Apple cables he owns.)
1.1) He's unable to take screenshots of this error, even though he can take screenshots of any other screen.
    2) Won't charge when connected to his Mac (does charge when connected to his 5w cube).
    3) Connecting to Mac dones't launch iTunes, but does launch iPhoto.
    4) Sometimes, even after launching iTunes manually, the iPod doesn't show up.
    5) We we can get the iPod and iTunes to talk to each other, he gets 7/8ths through syncing, then gets the error "Some of the videos in your iTunes Library, including the video IMG0925.jpg, were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod." — yes, the "videos" that won't "play" on his iPod are all JPEGs.
    6) When clicking [OK] to clear problem #5, it's always followed by "iTunes cannot back up the iPod (device name) because an error occurred." Even though it was 7/8ths done before the error occurred.
    7) Issue 5 and 6 occur when connected to the Mac over wifi too. (We've tried with wifi backup both off and on.)
    7) He's randomly prompted for his iCloud password at least 3-4 times a week. Entering it doesn't make this problem go away.
    8) Tried to update to 8.1.2 (hoping it would fix some of these issues), but after tapping [Agree] in the overlay screen, he's taken back to the T&C screen with [Decline] and [Agree] buttons at the bottom, and NOTHING happens.
So we he back up via any means, he can't upgrade, and we can't wipe and restore because he'll lose a month's worth of updates to calendar and address book.
I'm know my way around Mac and iOS, and I'm stumped. Anybody got anything?

  • My ipod touch won't sync to music

I try to plug my ipod touch in my computer to sync music I had recently added to my itunes library but it doesn't show up in itunes or it won't sync but my ipod touch will charge.....
Did this happened to anybody else? And what should I do....

  • IPod touch won't sync all songs in playlist

My son bought a brand-new iPod touch yesterday. He has been trying to compile his playlist and sync it to the new iPod. He has 41 songs on his playlist and only 22 of them will sync. They are all in the iTunes library and the iPod library, but not on the playlist. We tried changing Settings>Music>Group by Album Artist>Off, and that doesn't work. We've also created new playlists and tried syncing those, and that doesn't work either. Today, I noticed that my iPod Touch is doing the very same thing. We have the most recent software and many of the songs were purchased directly through iTunes.
Any thoughts? We've had my son's iPod for 2 days and there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY I am paying Apple support for help on something that seems to be an inbred error on their part.
    Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem as well and tried so many of these solutions, but no luck. I just got a new laptop with windows 8 and when I hooked my iTouch4 to my computer it only show 36 songs out of 509 of the ones I have on my iTouch. (I was freaking out because I thought windows 8 had something to do with it, but as usual I was being paranoid )
I found a way to put the rest of my music on my USB and hooked it to my laptop and put that music in a separate folder. I had all of them play onto iTunes. Now they all worked on iTunes, but I realized they didn't really sync onto my iTouch. To test it out a bought a new song on iTunes and clicked "sync" onto my iTouch, but nothing happened.
So I started searching for answers, but none of the methods solved my problem. So I started messing around with it and realized that the problem was ACTUALLY A SIMPLE SOLUTION.
So this is what I did...
    1) Start playing one of the songs that won't sync to your iTouch4
(don't know how to sync all songs at once yet)
    2) Now right click at the top bar of iTunes where it shows the song playing
    right click on album picture
    3) Then scroll to "Add to Playlist"
the arrow of "Add to Playlist" will show a list of your own playlists and the name of your iPod
    4) Click on the name of your iPod      Ex) Robert's iPod
    5) Then (you can stop playing song at this point) click on iPod device
This should right away take you to "Summary"
    6) Instead of being on "Summary" look for "On This iPod" - Click it
    7) Now "On This iPod" show a list of all the music that is currently on your iTouch
(including the song you just added from iTunes by following these steps)
    8) Make sure all the songs you want in the list have been marked with a "check mark"
    9) Then click "sync"
Check iTouch to see if song downloaded...
*If not then - still on "On This iPod" - click on "Autofill"
    (Wait for it to load)
    Now click "sync"
You should now have the songs on your iTouch as well!
It's a simple solution, but I haven't seen anyone advicing it and I wish they had so I didn't have to go through all this trouble
    Hopefully this helps!!!

  • My iPod Touch won't sync

I just updated my iPod Touch 4 Gen to iOS 5 a few weeks ago, ever since I have been having problems. At first my iPod had no album arts and if I edit the info of a song on iTunes, it wouldn't edit the info on the song on my iPod. It eventually sync my album art and the songs I edited after I added some new songs.
About a week later, when I added a few new songs to my iTunes, but when I tried to sync them to my iPod, the sync would finish, but the songs won't be on my iPod. It eventually sync those songs after I added a couple albums to my iTunes. (also I don't think its due to updating to iOS 5, but my Belkin charing cable stopped working, so I started using the Apple cable that I use for sync)
But after another week, when I tried to sync and it would backup and transfer purchases, but once it got up to somethin like "determining tracks to sync" iTunes would crash, and I would have to close iTune using Windows Task Manger. I have tried adding more albums, then I tried deleting some albums, it still won't sync. Now, after another week, its still has the same problem. But I can still add movies to apps on my iPod.
What wrong with my iPod? How can I fix it?
And also another question, when I tick "sync iPod via Wifi" or "only sync tick songs and videos" the music on my iPod decrease from 10.8gb to 10.2gb and my video stay the same (probably because I not have any video). But why does the music decrease from 10.8 to 10.2. I have made sure that all my songs are ticked and also iTunes says I have 10.06gb of music. Is there something wrong with that?
By the way I have nearly 1000 Purchased AAC and just under 400 MP3. The purchased AAC songs are purchased from iTunes, but they are purchased by some of my friends, not me. And my iTunes is iTunes 10.5, so it is up to date.

Thanks for trying, but unfortunately my iPod still has that problem. I try to restore my iPod but I still have that problem. But if I restore my iPod then sync then it will sync all my music on (but that takes nearly 4 hours, and after I sync my app are screwed. Today I backed up, then restored and sync it. Now I have 50 updates on the appstore (before I restored it there were only 3) and my layout was change to way I had it the last time I successfully synced it. Also some of my apps were delete, some apps I deleted were added (and it was random which apps got deleted, some I got months ago, some recent). So I had to redownload a lot of apps and update a lot as well, adding over another hour. So it would of took me probably nearly 6 hours to get new music on my iPod.
I hope someone or Apple finds a fix, 6 hours is way to long
Also I got another question, I my a smart playlist for New Released songs, I made it so that it was ordered by the most recently released, but when I restored and synced my iPod the Playlist was in a random order. Please help with that as well.
Yet another question, has anyone found out how to make it so that on my iPod the Recently Added smart playlist is ordered from the most recently added, my Recently Added smart playlist is still upside down from since I update to the ******** iOS 5
Lastly does anyone know good alternative for iTunes, I need something to sync music to my iPod since iTunes won't work for me. Also if I used some other program to sync music to my iPod would that mess up my iPod if I tried to restore it and sync it with iTunes.
