Ipod touch won't synch

I got an 8GB ipod touch last month and yesterday I downloaded some new songs from itunes and when I tried to synch my ipod with the computer no songs would synch and all the songs on my ipod were erased, but they are still on my itunes on the computer. I have tried to synch my ipod several times but it just says it is synching for 2 seconds and no songs load. I have tried restarting the computer and the ipod, changing ports, and the synch diagnostic, but it says everything is fine and nothing helps. What can I do?

I may have solved it from another post....the "sync music" tab wasn't clicked under "Summary/Music". I had recently downloaded a more recent version of iTunes, and it may have defaulted to that....sigh.....

2G iPod Touch won't synch or charge with computer.

I have a 2nd gen. iPod Touch and when i plug it into my computer it won't recognize it, charge it, or synch it. The only thing that happens when you plug it in is the computer makes 3 fast, same pitched tones. It's kind of like when you would normally plug it in and it makes those two tones. Anyway, so I thought maybe it was the cord so I got another chord and it didn't make a difference. I reinstalled iTunes and it made no difference. I restarted, and then restored my iPod and tried it again and it didn't work. I made sure it was fully charged too, to no avail. Finally I plugged in my iPod Video and it was recognized by the computer immediately so I know that it's a problem with the iPod touch. But the iPod Touch still works with my iHome. I have no idea what it could be. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Actually you are in a better position than some are with this problem. I would back up my iTunes library and then remove it completely from my computer. Use the info in this article to remove iTunes:

Then download the latest copy of iTunes and install that. That generally will fix it.

ICal and iPod Touch won't synch

I have an iPod Touch (OS 4.0) that I had been synching with my iCal (4.0) through iTunes (9.2.1) on my Mac (OS X 10.6.4). I am the only user of all of these. I have 5 calendars in iCal. Several problems have started occurring (many months after purchasing the Touch and synching it successfully):
(1) The synch crashes without doing anything if I try to synch multiple calendars.
(2) I can synch just one calendar, but then it replaces whatever calendar was already there (using straight-forward synch, not the Advanced option of replacing calendars
(3) Using Advanced - replace information on this iPod does nothing (i.e., no calendars are transfered to the iPod
(4) I reset everything: completely reset my iPod (more than once, including giving it a new name), reloaded iCal, reloaded iTunes. Removed Calendar cache. Same problems.
(5) Another issue: Later, I gave my calendars new names, and now iTunes still lists the old calendars as well as the new ones in its "selected calendars" list.
I'm at a loss as to what I should do, but I need my calendar to synch properly. On a day-to-day basis, it's the software I use most.

The genius people at the Apple Store solved the problem. First, I needed to tell iSync to reset its history (in iSync Preferences). Then they reset my iPod. Now it "sees" only the calendars in my iCal, and it syncs them correctly.
I was also told that repeated calendar entries (I use lots of them for weekly meetings) can also generate problems.

IPod Touch won't synch with PC

I am attempting to connect a new IPod Touch to my PC. The prompt said the device will not work with the installed version of ITunes and directed me to uninstall ITunes. I attempted to upgrade by downloading a new version of ITunes, but the IPod Touch still will not synch.
If I do uninstall ITunes, do I risk losing all my recorded music?

I had exactly the same problem and have found a solution this evening. I have a Siemens laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate, also running iTunes 9.0.3 and a 2nd Gen iPod Touch. With iTunes running, I plugged the ipod in and the progress bar would stick on sync for many hours with no success (left it for 10hrs!). I tried unistalling itunes and reinstalling, evening trying older versions (8 and 9), and no, I didn't loose the library or playlist (I have always accepted the default locations on set up).
WHat the problem in my case seems to be, is the itunesbackup.exe program. When the ipod is connected and syncing (and stuck as usual) I open task manager, go to processes, highlight "itunesbackup.exe" and then end that process. iTunes then moves on to the next step and starts syncing etc etc - works perfectly.

I bought a new touch and hooked it into the USB2.0 port. The iPod chirped, the picture of iTunes appeared on the screen. Then - nothing. The screen went blank. iTunes never turned on. However, the battery continued to charge. I tried all my USB ports with no difference. Any ideas?

iPod 4th gen 32 Gb with around 122 apps and it gets stuck in the second step where it tries to backup but my iPod reboots itself after a few minutes and the whole process starts again.
I tried a wired synch, Wi-Fi synch, iCloud synch, nothing works

Just now i have tried to synch it to iCloud with everything deactivated through the Manage storage section (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4859)
I have deleted all things from iCloud that showed on that page, deleted the backup there and everything else.
Then i clicked Back Up Now with a 17,7 Mb file to synch to iCloud and is stuck, like always, to evaluating the time it requires to finish the synch then reboots
Btw, are you some kind of employee at Apple?

My 4th gen iPod Touch won't charge

Hi, folks:
Suddenly, my 4th generation iPod Touch won't charge. I don't mean it won't hold a charge; I mean it WON'T charge. There's no (peep!) when I attach it to a Mac, a Windows box, or to the wall. I've tried not only at my place but at my doctor's office, too, on his computer. Rats.
It fell three feet onto a concrete floor a week before this happened, so I'm unsure of cause/effect there. However, chances are most excellent that I touched it while filled with static electicity (my bed is exceedingly staticky). Maybe I touched the charging port? I have no idea, but I kinda sorta have a memory of having gotten a shock while touching my pod and wondering whether that was bad.
It'll be a couple more days before I can get to a Genius Bar (but thank cow I'm in New York City and have my pick of them!). In the meantime, can anyone calm me down about my situation? Do you imagine it's doomed (it IS still operable provided I keep it plugged in, though iTunes can't see it since it won't mount), or do you spose the installation of a new battery might bring my precious baby back to me? It IS freshly backed up (again, thank cow!), but I'm not in a position to buy a new one right now, and unfortunately, I don't know what to do with my eyeballs without a Touch in front of them.
Oh, how I hope someone can tell me that this has happened to him, and an Apple Genius merely did something magical and handed it back intact and amazing again so Ican cry happy tears. It's been four days and I'm just sick without it (and having to look at this gigantic Mac, with its large and beautiful text in many windows, means I can't RECLINE! WAAAAH!).

Wow, Kevin; that's a tantalizing theory! I don't like it (I *never* like to think about logic board damage for any piece of hardware), but it's tantalizing, as it would explain my pod seemingly charging out of thin air, and it'd also explain why my pod doesn't just DIE altogether from a dead battery.
I feel like an idiot: I have iTunes set to never sync automatically with my pod, so it never automatically recognizes the pod. I'll bet I could sync it if I clicked to "apply," as I've been downloading new apps since 2/21 (the last time I backed the pod up, mere minutes before it failed), but I don't want to risk not having a connection that's 100% and bollixing up what's on the pod now. (I'll be in the hospital for a day and will need something to read the whole time; I'll need an intact pod!)

It doesn't give me any hope, but not having any hope, I can always be pleasantly surprised, whereas if I go in all hopeful, someone can dash my dreams. It appears that there is something incorrect with your billing information. You need to correct it. For a standard account you need a valid payment method even for free apps. You can however create a new account that is only good for apps by:

What country's Store are you using?
The two have to be the same and the payment method for your account also has to be associated (billing address, where iTunes gift card was purchased) with that country.
Has the ID(s) worked before for purchases for this country's store?

I connected to my computer and tried updating and was able to download the USB connection for the device but received an error when it tried to update the ipod. Is there any way to retrieve my pictures from the device before I try to recover? At this point my pictures are more valuable to me than restoring the device. How can I get my pictures recovered?
Now it looks like I have the Apple with an line under it on the screen, but still not responsive.

No. If your MacBook has an Intel processor you can update to OSX 10.6.8 and then install the latest iTunes.
A 5G iPod with iOS 7 requires that if you have a Mac you have OSX 10.6.8 or later.
