When I plug the device in It stays on the apple screen and itunes does not recognize it? I fear it may be stuck in some sort of reset loop which is stopping itunes from recognizing it. How do I go about the process of sending it in to apple if I cannot find a fix? Thank you in advance, it is greatly appreciated!!

- If not successful and you can't turn the iPod fully off (that is required to place in recovery mode), then let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try the reset, restore again
- Then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apples store.

Also you might try forcing the iPod into disk mode first, then connecting it to your computer and see if that makes it show up in iTunes...

I dropped my iphone 4 pretty hard, it cracked (although it already had a few cracks in it) and now the screen is black but sometimes has a background light turn on and then off. Holding the home button and off button at the same time do not work. When I plug it in to charge or to the computer it vibrates every 10 seconds and itunes does not seem to recognize it. It gets really really hot when plugged in (which I don't think is normal). icloud does not recognize it under "find my iphone" either. What could the problem be? I am wondering if dropping it dislodged something inside. if so, what did I dislodge and is it possible to fix this myself?
ThanksSounds like that drop was a critical one, my friend. I would make an appointment at your nearest Apple Retail Store, because you're going to need a replacement. Also as a side note: the reason that the charger is making the phone vibrate over and over is because there is a disconnect somewhere in the charge port of the phone, causing it to plug in and out over and over.

I plugged my iphone in to do an update and it was mid way through the update when the phone was accidentally disconnected. Now the phone is stuck on the screen that shows a cable and the iTunes image suggesting the phone needs to be plugged in to iTunes. I have plugged it in, powered on and off, attempted to enter DFU mode numerous times all with no success. ITunes does not recognize the phone and I continue to only receive the screen saying I need to plug in to iTunes.. Please help!

This is first Ipod for me - I have had less than one day. Screen is frozen with itunes emblem and cable. Unable to refresh/restore or do anything with ipod. I turn off/on and get the same frozen screen. My computer does not recognize ipod. Itunes does not recognize ipod so I cannot restore.... Should I take this ipod back and get a new one? Ipod frozen and itunes does not recognize
I have the most current version of the ipod touch and it is stuck on a screen saying it should connect to itunes. My device does not come up when I connect to itunes and I have tried resetting it, but it doesn't even reset it just pops back up to the same screen in about 2 seconds. Even when I try to turn it off the slide to turn off screen never comes up. This happened when I was updating the ipod through the computer and it said an error had occured and the update did not work. I have tried all the things I could find like attempting to put it in dfu mode, but since it doesn't come up in itunes that doesn't work. Does anybody have any other ideas or advice for me?

I was downloading the latest OS and it started to install. Before I knew it the compputer said there was problem installing it, the itouch was put into safe mode and now itunes doesn't see the itouch. I have tried to reinstall itunes.
