Ipod touch wont update

I just had the screen replaced on my ipod touch and tried to sync it to my laptop.Itunes said i needed to update ti version 5.1 on my ipod. When i tried to update it quit halfway saying that there was an error restoring it. It is now stuck showing an usb cord and the itunes logo telling me to connect to itunes, but itunes doesnt show its connected. Every time i try to reboot it it shows the apple logo for a sec and goes back to the screen i just described and none of the support topics were able to give a solution to this that worked. Anyone else have this problem and knows how to fix it?

Restart your iTunes, your computer and your iPod. Then open your computer and your iTunes then have your device connected. Then restore your device by doing the DFU mode. That should work.

  • IPod touch wont update apps but it will install new ones?

My iPod touch 4th with ios 6.1.6 wont update apps, but i can install a new one.
I go to the app store, updates, they show up i can hit update all or do them separately doesn't matter.
Click on update it will switch to installing and ask for my password. Enter it and the installing will change back to update and do nothing.
I have 47GB of space and no more later versions of ios to upgrade to. This one particular app upgrade only requires ios 4. something.
With all this i am still able to install a new app and make purchases.
    Any Advise

Go to the App Store and look at the requirements for the update. The update may require iOS 7 or higher. Sometimes updates get coded incorrectly and thus the iPod says an update is applicable when it really is not.

  • My iPod touch wont update, I've made the diagnostic prove and it says that iTunes isn't in a secure web. what can I do?

when the update finally ends, then appears a square saying that the update have a mistake please check it.
I've unlocked the Firewall, and did everything I can but it still not updating, what can a do? PLEASE

Never mind, got it to work. I stumbled around on Google for a while and somehow ended up reading things from the 'jailbroken' community. They had easy instructions to get out of Recovery mode. Thanks anyway though!
P.S. For anyone who experiences this, here is the fix: Hold Power and Home in unison for 6 seconds, then power on as normal.

  • My ipod touch wont let me download free games

my ipod touch wont download free games

I had that same problem, I used a gift card (all of it), and when I tried to use the AppStore it wouldn't let me, I tried calling apple support and iTunes support, but they did not help. The way I resolved my problem is I went to the grocery store and bought a visa debit gift card, with $1.00 balance on it and put that info on my billing settings when they asked me to update it or change it or whatever, and it worked perfectly, that may be the ONLY way for your problem to be resolved, and it's a confirmed answer, since I have done it myself, if you don't do that, you will never be able to download free apps, receive and download gifted apps, or even UPDATE an app, it ***** I know, I went through exactly what you did, and if you do what I did, you'll be able to use the AppStore again! Hope this was helpful for you.

  • My old 1st gen ipod touch wont turn on and makes a clicking sound when I plug it in.

My old 1st gen ipod touch wont turn on and makes a clicking sound when I plug it in. The ipod doesnt turn on when I plug it into the wall, even if I let it charge, and itunes won't recognize it. I have tried to reset it with the home and power buttons. Whats wrong and how can I fix it? I think it might be the memory or the battery. What could the clicking sound be related to? Thanks

Try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then try restoring the iPod.  For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
After that I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
