Sorry but no. The only way to restore an iPod to factory settings is through iTunes on a computer. You will need to get access to a computer somehow. If you can get to an Apple Store, they can probably help you.

  • Forgot iPod Touch 4th passcode. Trying to recover and restore doesn't work!

My daughter got new iPod Touch for Christmas. She added a passcode for fun, but promptly forgot it. According to support, I'm supposed to put the iPod in "recover" mode and then "restore" it to erase everything including the passcode. However, I've tried it like 100 times and it just restores back to saying it's my daughter's iPod and asks for passcode. I even tried deleting the backup records under preferences/devices and it still does the same thing! HELP!!! How can I get the computer to totally erase the iPod so I can start over!
P.S. Apple could have cooked up an easier
way to recover a passcode -- a hint option or something. My goodness!

    - You are placing the iPod in recovery mode right? See the following for recovery mode:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
    - Next try placing it in DFU mode and restoring.

    - Are you try to restore from backup with the backup having the unknown passcode? You can delete the backup by going to iTunes' preferences under the Devices tab.

  • How to do enable my ipod touch when passcode is unknown?

My 4yo son had figured out how to set a passcode and disabled his ipod touch since he doesn't know it. How do I get his ipod to enable and unlock without a passcode.I want to set it up so he cannot do this again. I read the ipod manual online that I understand this problem requires me to restore the ipod. How do I start this process?

Connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes on the computer. For how to restore see:

If necessary, place the iPod in recovory mpde and then restore for recovery mode see:

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If you can't make a backup, you only way to get data is to:
    - Restore from an existing backup
    - A data recovery company

  • I forgot my ipod touch 5 passcode, itunes wont let me restore

Okay so heres the problem: i have forgotten my password to my 5th gen. Ipod touch. I have tried restoring it, didn't work because of the find my ipod thing. So i put it in DFU mode and itunes told me that it could take up to 60 hours to update and restore. My mother kinda flipped at the idea, but said okay go with it. Half an hour later the whole thing was interrupted  and little box came up and said it timed out. I really need help here please! I'm using my old ipod

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
    - Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.
    - Then try on another computer

  • How do I reset my Ipod if the passcode that was put on it was entered wrong too many times and it disables the ipod?

My son put a passcode on his IPOD TOUCH and couldnt remember it and entered it too many times. Now it has disabled the Ipod and says please connect to ITunes and ITunes will not connect to it because it has been disabled, I have already spoke to an Apple representative and did exactly what they told me to do to help reset the Ipod but that didnt work. So I am trying to figure out how we can get back into his IPod even if we have to factory reset it because nothing is working, not their instructions or the internet instructions for reseting it.

If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.
