Ipod transfer questions

please excuse my ignorance....I have an Ipod shuffle and an Ipod mini (both are over 2 years old). Can I transfer Ipod mini music from my library onto my shuffle? My ex-sister-in-law has my downloads from my shuffle on her computer and my brother accidently erased my music trying to put more music on it. Next question, my brother has an new version Ipod (not nano) and I made a playlist from songs that I like on his Ipod. Can I transfer a playlist from his computer or Ipod to my Ipod without erasing my own music on my Ipod? (not music purchased from Itunes store). Again, not techno savy...excuse the ignorance.

When I set up sync movies, does it copy every movie from my movie folder to my ipod?
Not if you choose to sync selected movies. There should be options for you when you choose to auto sync movies.
Do these ipods come in window format?
Yes. For quite a while now all new iPods come Windows formatted out of the box.

  • IPod Touch to iPad transfer question

I have an iPod Touch, 4G.  If I have Minecraft installed and want to tranfer everything to a new iPad, will I lose my game data?

Backup the iPod Touch and then restore the iPad from the backup of the iPod Tocuh and that should transfer your game data into the iPad.
the way I would do it is backup the iPod, transfer purchases, sync one last time. When you activate the iPad, you will be given the opportunity to restore from the iPod backup - choose that option at the appropriate time.

  • What is the iPod transfer (ACC-AIFF) rate

I upgraded my system and now have a larger HD.
I reentered most of the songs in AIFF whereas prior they were ACC.
I have a 6og iPOD and all the songs will not fit if the iPOD loads them as AIFF.
Does the iPOD transfer at the rate that the iTunes songs are imported or are they adjusted to ACC or MP3 ?
If not can I change the iPOD transfer rate setting and/or only transfer from certain playlists similar to the iPhoto ability.
    Thanks,

*Where are the settings for the iPod ? - I only noticed them when I have my iPod attached to the computer.*
That's correct you'll only see the iPod preferences when your iPod is connected and showing in iTunes.
*Otherwise if I attach the iPod it will try and download the entire iTunes library.*
If your iPod is set to update automatically you can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘ Apple) keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and it will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. You should then be able to change your settings Once you are connected you can access and change the settings: iTunes for Mac - Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Comment supprimer des musiques de mon Ipod transférées de mon Mac avec Cloud? Merci

Comment supprimer des musiques de mon Ipod transférées de mon Imac,  merci

How you delete content from your iPod depends on how it is set up to receive content from your iTunes library whether that be via automatic syncing or manual management.
For automatic syncing, you must reconfigure your settings so that the album/tracks/content you wish to remove is no longer configured to sync to your iPod.  For example, if the Sync only checked songs and videos option is enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab, make sure all the tracks for this album do NOT have a tick mark next to them in your iPod.  Then resync your iPod with iTunes.
If that isn't the case, you'll want to look at the iPod's Music configuration tab.  You can access this tab by selecting your iPod under Devices. This should bring you to theSummary tab over to the right.  Look for the Music tab along the top and select it.  Here you can configure how and what music syncs to your device.  If you make any changes to this tab, be sure to hit the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to sync the updated changes to your device.
Otherwise, if you manually manage your iPod's contents, you must manually remove content from it.  You can do this by plugging your iPod in and clicking the small black triangle next to your iPod from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will open up a submenu of content that is indented underneath the name of your device, so go ahead and click on Music (or whatever content you are wanting to remove).  Locate the track or tracks/content you wish to delete. Highlight them and hit the Delete key or choose Edit -> Delete.
    Hope this helps.

I can log into my icloud account but i need to know my iPod security questions and answers.. How can i get them and see them???

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.

  • I have an old iPod, first generation. I want to play a friend's music thru my Bose radio. I've emptied my iPod to my itunes library to allow space on the iPod. Question is: Can my friend put his music on a flash drive and somehow transfer to my computer.

I have an old iPod. First generation. I want to play a friend's music thru my Bose radio at an upcoming party.   (already use my Pod w/the radio). Ive emptied my iPod to my itunes library to make more room for additional music.
Question: Can I somehow download my friend's playlist - which is on a flashdrive, transfer it to my itunes and then transfer to the iPod??

If the Apple Store Genuis says you can't sync music from an audio CD to your iPod (because it's too old), he or she is not much of a "genius."
That question is not even related to your iPod.  First step is to "rip" the music CD into your iTunes library.  Once the songs on the CD are in your iTunes library, they are like any other songs in your library, and you can sync them to your iPod as desired.  This article seems to do a good job of describing how to rip CDs
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1156861/howto_rip_cds.html
NOTE:  When you insert a music CD, it appears in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  If you do not see the sidebar (along left side of window), from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
It was the context of your original question, not the actual task.  You can easily add songs files that are on a flash drive to your iTunes library.  Open a window that shows the flash drive contents.  Drag the song files from that window to the iTunes window, and drop them on your iTunes Music library.  Or, use the command
iTunes menu bar -> File -> Add to Library...
NOTE:  Open your iTunes preferences, Advanced tab.  If the checkbox for Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library is NOT checked, those songs from the flash drive will only be accessible (for playing and syncing) when the flash drive is connected.

  • Question about DVD to iPod transfer

    Hello,
I used these programs and these steps....
    http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/guides.html#1000
to rip a DVD and then start to convert it. I am using the Videora Converter and it says the job is 100 percent done.
However, it hasn't saved the DVD into the output section yet and the thing such as filesize and frame and processed etc... are still going up.
Is something wrong? Or is this normal and I should just let it go until it stops?

That's probably information you should look for on the Videora site, rather than here. I'm not too sure myself, and I have used this software before. I don't remember anything like that happening, but bear in mind, you are dealing with a fairly decent sized file, and sometimes things seem to take longer than they should. If it feels like an unreasonable amount of time, try running the conversion again, from the original rip... or seeing if you can find any info on the Videora site.

  • A heap of iPod Touch questions...

    Hi everyone!
I've never been the type to want an iPod however with the introduction of the iPod Touch, I can see myself buying one in the near future. However I have a few questions, mainly relating to iTunes, that I want answers to before I splash out $AU549 on my first iPod.
    1. Does the Touch come with iTunes on disc?
    2. We have 2 computers in out house, one offline, one online. Obviously I will have to activate my Touch online before I can use it. Our online computer is an Intel Celeron about 3 years old with 512MB of RAM running Windows XP Home. Will this be sufficient for satisfactorily running iTunes?
    3. Is there anything important I should do before buying a Touch, such as downloading iTunes in advance, keeping in mind I have never owned an iPod before?
    4. Can someone please explain the "syncing" thing to me?
    5. Is it possible to download content, transfer it to a iPod and then transfer that to an OFFLINE computer as well?
    6. How can ordinary mp3s on my computer be put onto my iPod?
I would greatly appreciate any answers and would gladly give clarification if any one doesn't quite understand what I'm trying to say.
    Thanks

Podcasts are usually in the mp3 format. Audio Tracks are in AAC Protected format. About Syncing, itunes will work with any computer just note that on the offline computer the music store can't be accessed. You can still import, make playlist all that on it and by connecting an the ipod to it, it will copy all that to the device. Now, for the other computer if you have that ipod synced with with the other and connect it to another, it will erase the ipod onced its connected to the online computer and replace it with that computer's library. (of course if its the same content it won't matter) I would recommend, just from personal expericance to manage music manually, that way you won't have to worry about which songs are on or get replaced. For podcasts and photos for example, you can have set to sync. For manually manage music, to copy songs you just highlight the song and click and drag to the device (and with a whole bunch use the select all feature in the edit menu of itunes and click and drag those)

  • IPod syncing questions

    Hello All,
I would like to do the following:
Open iTunes and download podcasts A,B,C,D.
Attach my iPod and copy podcasts A,B,C,D.
    Detach iPod.
Delete podcasts A,B,C,D from iTunes on my computer.
    Download podcasts E,F,G,H on iTunes.
Attach iPod and copy podcasts E,F,G,H without having to lose podcasts A,B,C,D.
Is this possible? If yes how?
I simply did not know how to even search for the question in the forums since I simply don't understand the concept of "syncing". Why not just use the word copy like all normal human beings?
    Thank you very much.
    Feb

    1. Yes.
    2. Yes, if they can be used on the iPod.
    3. No, except for iTunes Store content, which can be transferred to a computer authorized to play it by using the Transfer Purchases option.
    4. iTunes will create a playlist for the iPod and sync its contents.
    5. A confirmation message about changing the computer the iPod is synced to will appear.

  • Quick (and possibly simple) iPod migration question...

Currently I am the proud owner of a first-gen iPod Touch 8GB, but I'm looking at upgrading to a second-gen Touch or possibly an iPhone. My question is, if I get a new device, will I be able to sync and use all the apps I have now on my 1st-gen Touch with the new Touch or new iPhone? And will they retain all the settings they had?
Also, a bit of a side question, but does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do with my current Touch once I upgrade, besides sell it?

I only speak from experience using the iPhone that I own. I own a first Gen and Second Gen. And I use the same PC to transfer and sync music and apps between both of them daily.
Obviously though this may not be the same results for the touch But I do not see how this would be much different as the touch is pretty much like iPhone minus the cell part. Again the only thing I am not 100% sure about is if the data from each app will carry over to new touch. But if first touch has been backed up like iPhone's can. Then you can connect the new touch and hopefully restore a backup file from first gen touch to it. Keep in mind it may prevent this if the 2nd gen has outdated software. So it may need to be updated before you can restore a file to it.

  • Follow-up iPod nano question?

    Hi All,
I have a 4G nano due in the mail and I have been preparing to use it with arch.  I had a previous basic question and got great answers.
My new question is related to its initial use.  I have read that many first use it with a Windows box so that iTunes converts the hfs file system to vfat.  A few others have indicted that they have enabled hfs support in the kernel and used the iPod out of the box.  Does anyone here have experience with the issue?  If keeping hfs is an option, which kernel modules are needed and are they available in the stock kernel?
    Thanks
    Kevin

I have used a few ipods with linux, but i used them with windows first because it only took about 5min. for me to name my ipod and all that through iTunes, so i would reccomend doing it that way and then sync your music using gtkPod in linux..

  • A Variety of iTunes 7 and ipod 5g questions...

I've recently purchase a new 5g 80gb iPod. (replacing my 60gb photo). I installed iTunes 7 with a fresh installation of windows xp. Copied all my music back on to my new iPod without to much trouble. but....
    Registering:
It asks me to register my iPod every time i plug it in. When i log into my apple id, it brings up my addy info. I live in Canada and changed it to the correct country, but it won't recognize my postal code. No matter how i put it (with a space, without a space, capital letter, lowercase). The error i get is at the top is "The postal code you entered is not valid for [?]" It's not a huge thing, just annoying. So i registered my iPod through the apple website, and it still asks me to register. I've clicked "Never Register" and it still asks me... Annoying.
Sound Check (in iTunes, not the headphone check one on the iPod):
If sound check is on, does it alter the audio files in your library in anyway or does it just adjust the volume within iTunes? If sound check is on, does it anyway affect how the audio plays on your iPod? (ie automatically adjusting the volume) If i installed iTunes 6 with sound check, formatted my computer (my documents and my music are on a separate harddrive) installed iTunes 7 with sound check off, will the audio files somehow still have sound check on? (this question is answered if sound check doesn't alter the audio files) I don't normalize my audio when it's ripped b/c most normalizing programs cause the quieter tracks to be unproportionate to the other tracks. (more obvious in live recording when the crowd noice jumps from track to track). Since i've started using my new iPod, i notice that some tracks seem to have been normalized somehow and causing those effects like the crowd noice jump.
    Gapless:
With iTunes 7, the option to whether tracks are part of a gapless album is now available. Does this mean there's true gapless support for the iPod? This is feature number 1 on my iPod wishlist (and many others) and my iPod "why the f**k have they not done this yet?" I've tried playing around with a bunch of albums and tracks, and sometimes it feels like gapless and other times not at all. Goddamnit apple, WHY will you not release proper full support for gapless?!
    Album Art:
If you set iTunes 7 to automatically download album art, does it embed the image in the music files like when you add them manually? I copied an album to my roomates computer which had iTunes apply the artwork, but on my roomates computer, it showed up in iTunes without the album art.
    Volume 60gb 5G vs 80gb 5G:
My roommate bought the 60gb video last winter, and i've done a comparison with the same song and headphones, has anyone else notice or if this is true, but my roommates max volume is louder then my 80gb video. We though it might have been apples attempt to extend the battery life. Also that and the max vol limiter in the iPod settings might have something to do with the lawsuit. (this is all speculation on our part)
Thank you for the time and patiences. I'm your typical newb so if you have some links, faqs, whatever to point me in the right direction.
    - tcb

i'll have a go at this one:
    Registering:
It asks me to register my iPod every time i plug it in.
with that symptom, it's worth checking on this possibility:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear
