IPod transfer to laptop
I am trying to tranfer my music from my IPod to my laptop. I cannot drag the music from my ipod to my laptop. So how can I tranfer my music to my laptop?

There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes. The first link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method if you have a PC as well as a few third party applications (for both the Mac and PC) if you choose to go that route instead. You can also do a simple Google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
Just make sure that when you have your iPod plugged into your computer, that you don't hit "Erase and Sync" before completing the task of copying your music over.
Also, if you have any purchased music, you will probably have to re-authorize your computer by heading to the Store drop down menu and choosing "Authorize computer."

My laptop crashed about 2 days ago. I got it fixed and had to reinstall it. I had to reinstall itunes all over again. How do I transfer all my songs from my ipod including the ones that were from hardcopies and by hardcopies I mean cds I bought in real life and is on a disc. All of the songs are still on my ipod so how do I upload all of the songs and videos (purchases, music/songs from hardcopies/cds uploaded not bought from itunes, etc...?) How would I upload all of that back to itunes on my laptop? Another question is for some reason when I hook up my ipod to my laptop, I recently bought 23 songs about a day ago and it won't upload those purchases to my ipod, is it because I have all the hardcopies and downloads on my ipod that the itunes library doesnt have? Also, how would I sync my newest purchases to my ipod efficiently without deleting any of the hardcopies I uploaded before my laptop crashed?

If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player. -

You can recover purchases by installing the latest version of iTunes to your laptop, then select the 'purchases' tab under Store in the sidebar and look at the lower left of the iTunes window for a link to: 'Download Previous Purchases' -
Hi, I HATE to ask for help with this, but I HAVE looked everywhere and Google searched different wordings and have not found anything similar nor a solution to my problem! My good old iPod 4th-gen charges just fine in any wall outlet, in any house, but when I connect it to my brand new ASUS laptop that has Windows-8 and 3.0 USB ports using the charging/data cable, the charging process just keeps "blinking" BOTH the iPod and the laptop and it will not connect to ITunes and I get "A Device is Detected" message that keeps popping up and going away over and over right above the Windows desktop toolbar. When I go to control panel and select "Devices" it does show the iPod, but for only a split second and than it disappears, but than it comes back again for a split second and than it disappears again and just keeps doing that over and over and over! I have tried resetting the iPod while it is plugged into the laptop by holding the power and menu buttons, that did no good. I also tried uninstalling iTunes and any other Apple stuff listed and reinstalling it all, that did NOT work! The iPod, the laptop and iTunes ARE all fully updated! I AM using a brand new charging/data cable that I just opened up an hour ago (I've learned to keep a few brand new ones around at all times since these piece of garbage rip-off cables hardly last a week, even when you baby them!). I also tried a few old cables, they all do the same thing! I would like to get this piece of junk to connect to my new laptop, even if only once, so that I can change/delete some songs and transfer a few dozen photos,since I haven't been able to do any of that stuff since my old laptop (that NEVER had any problems connecting) died way back in May! lol. Well, my PC recently went really slow and as a alternative im using the laptop until we replace the old computer with a brand new one. Now im having a few problems which im hoping you guys can help out with?
1) Of course, it asks me if i want to replace all songs with the ones in the itunes library on my laptop (altho there are none) - i select no. Now, is there anyway which i can get all the songs onto Itunes without deleting any? Or will i have to start all over again with all the songs.
2) The second thing being that when i plug my ipod into my laptop it comes up with 'do not disconnect' and then starts to charge. However, after its updated itself it goes onto main menu but stops charging and the laptop no longer recognises it?

If you have auto transfer selected and you don't have disk use enabled for the iPod, then after the transfer of songs has finished the iPod auto ejects and reverts to the main menu. That's normal.
However the battery should continue to charge (as it shows an animated icon) unless it's already fully charged.
The screen doesn't show an animated battery icon even after you turn the iPod off by holding down the play/pause? -

On my ipod touch I'm not too sure how I uploaded a album onto my ipod from my laptop. But, now there is no way to delete the album full of pictures. What do I do? I only gotten it a while ago and not fully sure how to work it. Help?

I used to be able to connect my ipod to my laptop and itunes used to open up and i could manage my ipod. But now I connect my ipod to my laptop and itunes does not come up. So i opened itunes and pluged in my ipod but it did not show up in itunes. My ipod does connect to my laptop but for some reason itunes is not showing me my ipod and i dont know what to do. Anyone know please?

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

You may be able to redownload your iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
BTW, did you sync to the laptop before? Yu can only sync to one iTunes library. If you sync to to another library the iPod will be eerased and it contents replace with what is in the iTunes library on the computer. -
Hi I tried to install ios7 last night and the ipod touch now has a frozen screen with the itunes logo and the usb logo I plugged the ipod into my laptop and tried to restore only to be met with the message 3194 error cannot restore this ipod please help thanks
Hi. The two user tips both describe a sequence of steps that should get your library from the point where it threatens to wipe data from your device to where it is syncing normally, while recovering as much information as possible. It may still be necessary to wipe and reload the device but this should only take place once all the data that can be recovered has been recovered.
Doing step 1 of 8 and then complaining things aren't the way you want them to be yet strikes me as premature...
Since you appear to have all your media content, and we are discussing an iPod classic, not an iOS device, the main worries are already taken care of. What's left is ratings, playcounts, playlist membership and checked status. Since your device holds only part of your library at best you could only recover the missing data for the content that is on the device using third party tools.
Recreating the previous checked/unchecked status of every track in your library from where you are now may not be that easy. Syncing with selected playlists has many advantages, one of which would have been that you would have a named playlist that could have been retrieved by 3rd party software if you had used this method.
You haven't explained what caused your problem in the first place, but if you have a Previous iTunes Libraries folder holding old copies of your iTunes database (generated with each iTunes update) then it would be possible to restore the most recent of these and then update the library with any changes in your media folder.
BTW Apple doesn't offer free support for this kind of issue with iTunes.

I connected my friends ipod to my laptop whilst I was playing some songs and closed whatever came up on the screen from itunes. Next thing I know his ipod has been wiped and we can't find his music. How do we get his music back? He hasn't got his laptop anymore so the only music he has was on his ipod.
Hasn't he got a backup of his content on external drives and/or CDs or DVDs ?
