Ipod turn off issue

I ´m surprised for the many posts on people not being able to turn their Ipod´s by pressing the Play/pause button and nobody from Apple care to answer! It is definitively an Ipod firmware issue (the button works for other functions).
My Ipod refuses to turn off after disconnecting from PC Itunes. I have to have something playing first than pause than pause again and it will turn off most of the times...sometimes I have also to push back and for the Hold switch. When is coming a new firmware upgrade?

Well you can try putting the ipod into "Disk Mode" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651 and then connect it to the PC and restore it with the latest ipod updater 06-28-2006 to reinstall its firmware.
Now as for the "Next Firmware update" noone really knows til apple decides to release and announce it. Apple USUALLY will release a new version of iTUnes and a new ipod updater during or after one if its Big "Eventes/Announcements". Like the last update to iTUnes and ipod updater was on June, 28th 2006 right around the time they had the announcement of the niki+itunes deal/kit for the nano.
Theres BIG hoopla about an event apple has invited the press to Sept 12th 2006 in San Francisco, California. During or after the event they MAY release a new version of iTUnes and/or ipod updater, just have to wait and see what there event/announcement is for and what they release on there web site on that day. San Fran is like 8 hours behind London england and 9 hours behind the rest of central Europe, so it may be late in the day where you live when they do the event and release whatever there going to release
It may be sept 13th before people in europe see anything new, Because when its 12:30 at night (Sept 13th 2006) in Central Europe is only 3:30PM (Sept 12th 2006) in the afternoon in California USA

  • Ipod turns off itself ( full battery)

    Hi
My ipod turns off itself every 20-30 minitues..because "no battery power" (its fully charged, really). It works again if I turn it on. What's wrong with my ipod?
    Thanks

It may be that the battery needs replacing. You shouldn't rely on the battery meter, it's well known for being inaccurate.
Try this test, and if it's a poor performance, get the battery replaced (especially if it's still under warranty).

  • Ipod turns off while battery indicator is full.

Hi a couple of days ago my ipod turned off about 2 mins after i turned it on and said that i had a low battery, however the battery indicator was fully charged. Then after 10-15 mins i tried it again and it worked fine, can anybody tell me why this happened, and if anybody else is having the same problem?

The iPod battery indicator is only a very loose approximation of how much charge there actually is left and is not that reliable.
    These may help.

why does my ipod turn off when I dim the backlight?

Probably because you do not have the headphones plugged all the way in. Make sure the plastic on the headphone jack is flush with the body of the Nano.
Incidentally, you are not running iOS 1.x

  • IPod turns off when screen turns off

When my iPod screen turns off so does the sound through the headphones.  I tried updates, different headphones, reboots.
    Any suggestions??
I was offered  6th generation for my 1st generation recalled nano, I regret switching now as my 1st generation was still going strong.

    Hi Bricky66,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're experiencing some unusual behavior with your iPod nano. I'd suggest some of the troubleshooting steps in this article:

    The headphones don't work
...If the issue appears to be with the iPod, try resetting it. If that doesn't work, then restore iPod with the latest iPod software using iTunes...

  • 4th gen iPod turned off and won't turn back on.

So, earlier today I had my iPod touch (4th gen) plugged into my electronic drum kit through a double sided auxillary cable. Nothing out of the usual. I turned it to a certain song I felt like jamming to at the time and it froze. It was a weird type of freeze. The screen itself was frozen, as was the sound, but it had displayed weird grey/purple static waves, like an old T.V. with the antennas slightly off. I tried turning the iPod off normally, when that didnt work I held the power and home button to reset it thinking it was some glitch that would go away. Only, it didn't reset and just stayed off. I've tried plugging it into my PC, no response. I've even tried plugging it into my xbox (which is one way I usually charge it) and it didn't respond either. As of now, it's a brick. I have no idea why. Nothing was out of the ordinary other then a random screen freeze/glitch.
TL;DR I have an iPod that's turned off, it will not reset, go into DFU mode, and does not charge/is not recognized when plugged into anything. Anyone got any idea what I should do?

It would appear that you have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius bar of an Apple store is in order.
