Ipod turns itself on then battery drains, so it dies everyday

I bought the ipod six months ago and have had this problem since the first day, but have not had access to the internet until this week to ask for help.
the ipod will randomly start playing when I have it turned off/sleeping without me touching anything. If I don't find it to turn it back off, it continues to play until the battery is dead. then of course when I want to use it, I can't until I recharge it.
I've reset it several times, I've cleared all the files off of it and replaced them, but the problem persists.

the problem could be that if you put it in your pocket, one of the buttons could have been accidentally hit, causing it to turn on and possibly play a song to drain the battery. have you tried using the hold button? it's on the top of the ipod, on the left side. put ipod on sleep, then switch it to hold. it won't turn on then. switch off the hold and you can use it again. the hold button will lock all of the keys

  • Tx turns itself on; then battery drains?

I've had a Tx for a few years with no problems.  Now, sometimes it is turning itself on (screen lights up) without me touching it.  If I do not turn it off, it thens completely drains its battery.
I can not find any alarms I have set.
Any ideas on why it is turning itself on (and then not turning itself off at the one minute "auto turnoff" I have it set for?
    Thanks,

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

  • IPod turns itself off in dock

I have a new iPod classic 160gb. From time to time, the iPod turns itself off while playing, but only while in a speaker dock. This has happened in two different docks, including the Bose SoundDock and the Griffin Journi. Somewhere midway through a song, the music stops, the backlight comes on, it goes into charging mode. If I hit play, it continues as if nothing has happened.
I don't have a problem listening through headphones, anyone else see this?

    Add me to this list.
Along with the frustrating, well known and widely shared iTunes freezing issues, my (second, first one returned)silver 160GB classic also experiences this 'shutoff' in my iHome dock. I haven't had this issue with my DLO Homedock deluxe, but when in my iHome speaker dock playback starts fine but then just shuts off midway through a song when it feels like it, then like was said, goes to the charging battery screen. So, this new iPod has made iTunes, old video docks and now even my iHome dock worthless. I've really begun to question the intellegence of this 'upgrade'.

  • My ipod turns itself on

often my ipod mini will turn itself on and play, draining the battery, even if it has been "locked". Anyone else dealing with this?

Try resetting your ipod. If that dosent work you can restore you ipod.

when i try to reset my ipod it stops at 10minutes and the ipod turns itself on and acts like ive done nothing to it, it has been stuck on the "connect to itunes screen" and it wont reset. why?

After you place the iPod in recovery mode using
iOS: Unable to update or restore
You have to then connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes. Are you doing that?

  • Ipod- turning itself on

    Hi,
Can the ipod be COMPLETELY turned off on the iphone4, and ONLY turned on when I want it on. I have noticed on several occasions that it had turned itself on, and then interferes with other apps I have running. Also it is using up battery life when not required.
    Thanks,
    Greg

Do you mean a song starts playing without selecting play?
I've never had the iPod interfere with any of the included apps or with any 3rd party apps since day one beginning with the original iPhone and with every firmware version.
How is the iPod interfering with other apps you have running? Most 3rd party apps are not running in the background when leaving the app with iOS4. The overwhelming majority of 3rd party apps are quit when leaving the app the same as before iOS4. Some apps such as games that have been updated for iOS4 are suspended with leaving the app. An app that is suspended is not running or using processor cycles in the background.

When a song is not being played with the iPod - the iPod is not being used, how do you know the iPod is using up battery life?

My IPod Turned Off By Itself & Now It's Not Wanting To Turn On.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod turns itself off

I have had my iPod classic for almost 3 years, and it has started to turn itself off without me telling it to. It will do this while I am playing a song. I would prefer to not buy another one. Anyone have ideas?

Well the most obvious question is: is the battery running down which is then causing your iPod to turn off?
After a few years the battery will not re-charge properly and the play time will then be much shorter. Check the battery status button while your iPod is playing to see how long before it drops from full charge to empty. If it is quite quick - and that is why your iPod is turning off, your options are have the battery replaced (either by Apple or a thrid party) or buy a new iPod.
The next most obvious question - if the above is not the problem - can you turn the iPod on again immediately, is it always the same song (or songs) that causes the iPod to turn off?

  • Ipod turns itself on

Have had my 60g video Ipod since they first came out. Haven't had any problem until about two weeks ago when I went to use my Ipod and realized it was dead which didn't make any sense as it had been fully charged. After recharing it and using it I turned it off and put it in Hold mode. I looked at it the next morning and it had turned itself on and used about 3/4 of the battery. It has continued to do this for the past two weeks. Has anyone else had this problem and does anyone know if there is a resolution to this issue.

check and see if the alarm is on. mine did the same thing but i realized that a few weeks earlier i had set the alarm to like 4 in the morning and it would turn on and run itself out

  • Nokia lumia 820 freezes, turn itself off, then it ...

I've had my Lumia 820 for 3 months now, now it's starting to freeze 1-2 times each day. Yesterday, when it freezes, I tried to reboot it by removing the battery and put it back on again. But, this time, it won't start, instead it shows a buzzed screen like static tv, then turn itself off. It keeps showing that whenever I try to turn it on. I want to try repairing for myself before go to my local Nokia support store. can someone help me? I'm desperate...

  • Ipod turns itself on & stays on!

My Ipod keeps turning itself on. I turn it off in the correct way andhave the hold button on to lock. However, after a period of time, I look at it and it is happily playing tunes from my library - and no-one has been near it! How spooky is that. It is really annoying because it is using up my battery power, so when I want to use it, I find that it has been playing all night long and the battery is half gone!

    Check the alarms.
    Go to;
EXTRAS > CLOCK > ALARM CLOCK > ALARM > OFF
    and;
    EXTRAS > CALENDAR > ALARMS > OFF
    Cheers!

  • Ipod turns itself on, wont turn off

    Aloha,
    I have a 30gb color ipod.
It keeps turning itself ON, all by itself. If you try to turn it off, in several seconds it turns right back on again. This runs the battery down, even if you lock it.
    I have:
-checked the alarm clock is NOT turned on (I have even deleted the clock, still does it)
-checked there are no calendar alarms on
-reset the ipod (toggle hold, hold menu+select) - did twice
-done a restore in itunes (twice)
And it STILL turns itself on.
    HELP!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Ipod turns itself off - only playing 1 certain album!

on Monday evening I purchased Ne-Yo- Year of the Gentleman via the i-tunes store.
Having played the album on Tuesday morning, I incurred a problem. It will play 2-3 songs perfectly fine, but if I go to skip to the next song the ipod turns it self off and the apple icon appears on the screen.
The ipod loads up again after about 2 minutes but obviously this is a very inconveinet and annoying problem.
I have tried playing other play lists and it doesn’t have the same problem its only Ne-Yo.
Can you give me an idea of what the problem is and how to correct it?
    Thanks

I was hoping either a reset or restore would do the trick. In this case it could be the album itself may be the culprit. So, the only thing I can suggest is to ask Apple if you can download the album again. I'm not sure if Apple will allow it though given their strict iTunes download policy. You may want to try anyway.
I suspect it could be either a bad tag in the songs or a corrupt file.
