Ipod turns itself on, wont turn off

Aloha,
I have a 30gb color ipod.
It keeps turning itself ON, all by itself. If you try to turn it off, in several seconds it turns right back on again. This runs the battery down, even if you lock it.
I have:
-checked the alarm clock is NOT turned on (I have even deleted the clock, still does it)
-checked there are no calendar alarms on
-reset the ipod (toggle hold, hold menu+select) - did twice
-done a restore in itunes (twice)
And it STILL turns itself on.
HELP!

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Ipod turns off itself ( full battery)

    Hi
My ipod turns off itself every 20-30 minitues..because "no battery power" (its fully charged, really). It works again if I turn it on. What's wrong with my ipod?
    Thanks

It may be that the battery needs replacing. You shouldn't rely on the battery meter, it's well known for being inaccurate.
Try this test, and if it's a poor performance, get the battery replaced (especially if it's still under warranty).

  • Ipod turns off while battery indicator is full.

Hi a couple of days ago my ipod turned off about 2 mins after i turned it on and said that i had a low battery, however the battery indicator was fully charged. Then after 10-15 mins i tried it again and it worked fine, can anybody tell me why this happened, and if anybody else is having the same problem?

The iPod battery indicator is only a very loose approximation of how much charge there actually is left and is not that reliable.
    These may help.

why does my ipod turn off when I dim the backlight?

Probably because you do not have the headphones plugged all the way in. Make sure the plastic on the headphone jack is flush with the body of the Nano.
Incidentally, you are not running iOS 1.x

  • 4th gen iPod turned off and won't turn back on.

So, earlier today I had my iPod touch (4th gen) plugged into my electronic drum kit through a double sided auxillary cable. Nothing out of the usual. I turned it to a certain song I felt like jamming to at the time and it froze. It was a weird type of freeze. The screen itself was frozen, as was the sound, but it had displayed weird grey/purple static waves, like an old T.V. with the antennas slightly off. I tried turning the iPod off normally, when that didnt work I held the power and home button to reset it thinking it was some glitch that would go away. Only, it didn't reset and just stayed off. I've tried plugging it into my PC, no response. I've even tried plugging it into my xbox (which is one way I usually charge it) and it didn't respond either. As of now, it's a brick. I have no idea why. Nothing was out of the ordinary other then a random screen freeze/glitch.
TL;DR I have an iPod that's turned off, it will not reset, go into DFU mode, and does not charge/is not recognized when plugged into anything. Anyone got any idea what I should do?

It would appear that you have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT1386 ipod turning off intermittently and not syncing music

  • IPod turned off??

My iPod touch 4th gen. just turned off, battery wasnt low, wont activate when plugged in, is there a way to reset it or something? i havent gotten it wet, dropped it or anything. what happend???

Reset is covered in the basics section of the manual:

    It should help, hopefully.

  • Battery seems to be half full, and iPod turn off.

Something strange. My iPod mini is less as 2 years old. Now it works together with a inMotion sound system, and sometimes I leave it with me.
Well, first strange thing is that it needs more as 8 hours to full battery charge.
Second, when I use it, about 2 hours of listening is what I get. When I press one button of the wheel, a message appears telling no more power supplied and it will be turned off.
Third: strange is that the battery level seems to be in the middle. No way, five seconds after, turned off.
    Any idea?
    thanks for all.

Ahh thank you so much for that site! After reading that Apple can replace the battery for you, they won't send you back the one that YOU own, instead, they send you another one that might be new, old, or whatever. And i read another review where this guy said the battery on his second ipod (the one Apple sent as a replacement) was already dying and the warranty for it wasn't very long.
I didn't want that to happen because i love my current ipod. Then when i saw that site, i was relieve cause i didn't have to throw out my ipod.
    Thanks again!!
