Ipod turns on itself although the app is not active in the toolbar and the screen locked...

Hey everybody,
I have posted this before, and at first I thought that completely closing the ipo-app did the job, but unfortunately it still keeps happenig, even with the ipod app off, so i'll try once more to find out, please read the following: has everybody noticed this using your iphone: phone is in stand-by, you hit the button to get to the unlock screen and at the top of the display the ipod play bar is displayed as if you iphone is playing a tune and when you wait a couple of seconds it suddenly dissapears without you unlocking your phone or doing anything else? does anybody know what this could be/mean?
thanks in advance

It means you are double pressing your home button when you are trying to wake your phone and unlock it. The iphone 4's are notorious for doing that. Nothing wrong just a sensitive home button.

  • Brand new iPod touch restarts itself all the time

Hello, my dad just came home from Japan, with a brand new iPod touch.
I managed to register it in iTunes, but when i updated the firmware i got an error message. I tried again and i think that i succeed. Then i started to sync music and the rest of the stuff. The syncing stopped after a minute, and when i tried to navigate on my iPod i realised that the touch screen didn't respond. So after several attempts, i made a hard reset.
But now, the iPod touch restarts itself. The Apple logo comes up, and then the screen turns off in a dramatical way, and then the Apple logo comes up again. If i hard reset my device again, the process continous.
I sometimes the iPod shows the "charge battery" screen, and then I can charge the battery. BUT after 5 minutes, the iPod touch starts restarting itself again. :S
Does anyone have a solution to this? Extremely strange.

I suspect you have a hardware problem. Probably a non-functioning battery (over or under) and causing a hardware reset. Bring it to an Apple Store for replacement.

  • IPhone 3G's iPod turned on itself.

Hi I my iPhone's iPod turned on itself last night and start playing songs..
I never had this problem before.
    I am using iOS4.
Anyone has the same problem or any idea how to fix it?

My iPhone4 is also turning on the iPod music by itself, and playing songs. Appears to be random songs. Seems to be correlated to when my Bluetooth is disconnecting -- but it has occurred at other times -- but always when I have a Bluetooth connection (vs. WiFi or 3GS).
I cannot locate any setting (or default setting) that would cause this.
I have had my iPhone4 less than one week.

  • Ipod turns off itself ( full battery)

    Hi
My ipod turns off itself every 20-30 minitues..because "no battery power" (its fully charged, really). It works again if I turn it on. What's wrong with my ipod?
    Thanks

It may be that the battery needs replacing. You shouldn't rely on the battery meter, it's well known for being inaccurate.
Try this test, and if it's a poor performance, get the battery replaced (especially if it's still under warranty).

    - Charge the iPod for half an hour.  Then reset the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - if still not working, connect to your computer. If iTunes sees the iPod, restore the iPod.
    - If still problem, place the iPod in recovery mode and then try to restore the iPod.  For recovery mod see:

    Try:

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:

. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Try resetting.  Hold the sleep wake button (on the top edge), and the home button (round button on the front with the white square) at the same time for 10-15 seconds.  If you see the apple logo, let go.  Your phone should restart.  If not?

    Hey there our3goldens,
It sounds like you are unable to successfully boot your iPod Touch. I would recommend these steps specifically from the following article, named:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more aboutrestoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,

  • Just tried installing an update to OS.  Although the screen tells me that the installation will be completed in less than one minute, that was two hours ago, and the computer won't permit me to shut it down via the power button, as I get an error sound.

Just tried installing an update to OSX Snow Leopard.  Prior to trying to update OS, I was running V 10.6.3.  During installation, it locked up.  Although the screen tells me that the installation will be completed in less than one minute, that was two hours ago, and the computer won't permit me to shut it down via the power button, as I get an error sound.  What do I do now?  Help!

Hold the power key till it shuts down, it may take a little while, try holding it thru the warning.
Then if it shuts down restart and open Safari/Preferences, General tab, and set "Save Downloaded Files to:"
Select desktop, if desktop is not available in the the drop down menu, click other, then select Desktop from the column from the on the left.
    Then download this:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
This will download the "stand alone installer"
Click on the installer pkg and follow the prompts.
    Hope this helps

  • Help my ipod still has the screen lock on and the combo wont work

I was just testing the screen lock thing to see if it would work so i set it to my birthday and then i test it out and it wont work my combo i tired every combo so it said if u forget combo plugg it into ur computer . i plugged it in and now what? i unplugged it and its still locked . wat should i do ?

Plugging the iPod in to the computer only unlocks it until the next time you opt to lock the screen. It does not get rid of the old code that you no longer know.
The only way to get rid of the older code and be able to set a new one if desired is to restore the iPod.
To restore, connect the iPod to the computer, open the iPod updater (Start>All Programs>iPod>iPod Updater) and click restore.
Restoring will delete all the files off of your Nano, and reset all settings, including the screen lock. It will not however, change anything in your iTunes library, so after completion, simply update your iPod as normal to get your songs back on.
Then, you are free to set a new screen lock. Hopefully this time it will be one you remember.
