  • 5th Gen 60GB ipod turns off randomly

My iPod has a tendency to just turn off randomly. it'll leave a "ghost" screen shot of what was on it and then it slowly fades away to nothing. Then, the black screen and apple come up and take 20-30 seconds to reboot and start over at the main menu.
Any idea as to how to fix this?
    thanks

My 5th Gen 80GB ipod also turns off/restarts randomly after about 2-3 minutes of use. Very annoying and have had much trouble in trying to solve this problem.

  • Help. Ipod Turns Off Randomly And Freezes!?

My Ipod will randomly turn off sometimes, quite often actually. It turns off and I can't turn it back on unless I plug it into a computer. Then it will turn on but it will say Please Wait. Very Low Battery. Then I have to play around with it by plugging and unplugging it until it turns on and the ironic part is that once it turns on it is almost full battery? I really don't know how to fix this?

I suggest bringing it to a local apple store that has a genius bar or calling apple technical support to see if they can help you out. It might be a well known problem that they'll fix for free, or you might have to pay to get it fixed.

  • IPod turns off randomly

I only got my iPod touch a few weeks ago, and very frequently, when listening to music, it just goes to sleep and stops playing music. When I wake it back up again, it is either on the home screen, or on a random playlist or the song list where I had been looking at before. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Darrell

Just a thought do any apple tec bods read this forum or pref Apple management that can answer the question when are Apple going to fix the prob of the Ipod touch turning off at random. It's getting more and more frequent I will soon be going back to using a Sony mp3 as it do what it says on the box plays music untill you tell it not to and not just decide to stop at random. Well not only stop but switch it's self off reset the date to what ever along with the time.
This needs to be sorted out now and not in a few months never mind releasing a new one 32Gb how about you get the ones out there right first.

  • IPod turns off randomly!!! I need help!

*Okay, so my iPod will be on the dock, and it will work just fine, but after I take it off, I only use it for certain amounts of time, then turn it off, and it won't turn back on until I charge it again. I tried the 5r's, but they didn't help any, either. And for those of you probably thinking I'm to stupid to check the hold button, think again. Also, the Apple people are saying my warranty expired on June 8th, 2009, but I didn't get it in June of '08, I got it in August of '08. What's up with that? Anyone know?*

Also, it says it has battery life, but when it truns off, and I plug it back in, it takes a long time to charge, even if I only used it for like, 3 min.

  • My iPod shut off randomly and will no longer turn back on. I plugged it in to charge it, but after several hours it will not turn back on. What should I do?

My iPod turn off randomly. I plugged it in to the charger, and after several hours, it still will not turn on. I even plugged it into my computer and pulled up iTunes, where it showed up on the screen as plugged in, but still it will not turn back on. Any suggestions on what I should do?

    - First try resetting the iPOd:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - Next try restoring the iPod via iTunes, first from backup and if still problem to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • Ipod nano 6th Gen, Turning on Randomly

I bought an ipod nano red 16gb, probably 4 months ago. In the last few weeks, It keeps turning on randomly. Like i will hold the pause button and it will turn off, then in a variable amount of time, it will randomly turn on again.. What's the go?
I just watched it sitting on my computer desk turned off, and it randomly turned back on, noticing it's starting to get more frequent.
If you have any suggestions that would be very much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Adam.

The sleep button has 2 functions:
    - press the button briefly to switch the screen off and lock it
    - press the button for 3 seconds to put it into Sleep mode (this stops the music and switches the iPod off)
Have you been holding the button down too long?
Or did you spill something sticky on the iPod that got into the button?

  • Video ipod turning itself on at random, even when "hold" is on

My 30GB 5th generation iPod has started randomly turning on and playing an unspecified playlist of random songs (usually about 200-300 song playlists). It's not playing any playlist that's actually on my ipod, but is completely random. It will do this even if the hold switch is on, and occasionally it's even switched to one of these mystery playlists while I was listening to something else! It also wears down my battery, which is extremely annoying. Is this happening to anyone else? Should I restore it? If anyone has any insight, I would definitely appreciate it. Thanks!

    You should restore it.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPhone 3G's iPod turned on itself.

Hi I my iPhone's iPod turned on itself last night and start playing songs..
I never had this problem before.
    I am using iOS4.
Anyone has the same problem or any idea how to fix it?

My iPhone4 is also turning on the iPod music by itself, and playing songs. Appears to be random songs. Seems to be correlated to when my Bluetooth is disconnecting -- but it has occurred at other times -- but always when I have a Bluetooth connection (vs. WiFi or 3GS).
I cannot locate any setting (or default setting) that would cause this.
I have had my iPhone4 less than one week.

  • Backlight turning off randomly

I have a late 2009 27" 2.66 iMac (latest OS and updates). Just the other day the backlight started turning off randomly (can still see screen under a light). I have corners enabled and can put the display to sleep, wake it again and the backlight turns back on, but only for a short time. And I have a second monitor plugged in with no problems on that.
I've read that it may need new hardware which I don't really want to be forking out on. I've tried the other things of reseting the PRAM and SMC with no luck.
I've tried to boot AHT to run a diagnostic but for some reason whatever I do I can't get it to run.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

It's probably a connection if it does it a lot when moving it. If it's out of warranty, you could use one of these guides to open it up and check for lose wires or connections.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
