Ipod Universal Doc with Remote Issue

Hi Guys
Wonder if you can help, I have a 80GB black classic iPod and have bought the Uni Doc with Remote - The Remote will only control the sound and nothing else. I have tried re-syncing the remote but with no luck
Any ideas??

Hmmm, good question. Its at home right now and I'm at work... I want to say that it is a flat receiver. I bought it with the iPod Touch, it came with about 8 different plastic pieces to fit a few different iPods, and it doesn't have the S-video connector in the back... just an audio out, and the same dock connector slot in the back which is hooked up to my component cable. It works with both my iPod Touch and iPhone 3G, it displays tv shows and movies perfectly on my tv, but it won't jump back and forth in my play list. I think I've got 3 or 4 different remotes lying around; I assumed that they were all the same, but is it possible that the remote that came with the dock is different than the remotes that came with the Mac Mini, MacBook, and MacBook Pro?

Menu Button issue with the iPod Universal Dock with Remote

What is the status of a firmware release to address the inability of the Apple Remote to mimic the menu button on the iPod?
Is it even possible to update the firmware to provide this functionality? What is the hold up? I am boycotting further hardware purchases until this is taken care of or Apple accept s a return of my Universal Dock, Remote, Second power brick, Firewire cable, and AV cable.
It is shameful for Apple to have sold these items and not made it clear that the menu button may as well be a sticker.

Ipod universal dock and remote doesnt work!!!!!

I'm fairly new to the whole apple and ipod thing, i bought an ipod nano last week and bought a universal dock with remote today (proper apple one), but the menu button on the remote doesnt work(it does on the ipod itself but thats not the point) so i cant go 'back' from an album i'm playing to find another one i want to play. the volume works fine as does the track back and forth and play pause. But my menu button on the remote doesnt work, this is incredibly frustrating!!!!!
Can anyone help?
one more thing it's not a fault with the remote as my brother has a mac mini with a remote which works fine with his, but the menu button again isnt recognised on my dock!

If you read the manual, you'll see that the menu button is for other devices, but not our Nano's. Apple doesn't make this clear on it's website, IMO. Had I known this, I would not have bought a u-dock. Plus, when my Nano is docked, I can't use the lower 1/3 of the wheel, as the Nano sits too low for my fingers to reach. It's going back to the store next week.

Ipod Nano Compatibility with Ipod Universal Dock and Remote

I have an 8GB Black 2nd Gen iPod Nano. I want to connect it to my stereo. I was told that the Apple Ipod Universal Dock would be a good solution.

The website says that it is compatible with my nano, so no big deal right? I just wanted to make sure it would work fine with my iPod nano before I went and bought one. Does it come with the AV cable to connect the dock to my stereo / tv? DOes the dock have a graphical menu interface like some of the third party docks/remotes have?
Also, will the Apple Ipod Remote work with the universal dock?

The apple store website says that everything will be compatible, but I wanted confirmation from someone who has actually owned this or knows about this.
Can you offer any better docks/remotes ideas?

I had a question about part of the review though, I am not sure I am understanding it correctly.
"We were impressed by the remote's ability to take control of our iPod; most of the third-party iPod-dock remotes we've seen only pause the music or video, skip tracks, and adjust the volume, not browse the menus. That said, the Entertainment Dock still isn't perfect. When you navigate the menus, your TV screen will be blank, so you must rely on the iPod's screen for your visual cues. Our other gripe is that the remote seems cheaply designed: The buttons on our review model looked misaligned (if usable), while the battery cover was annoyingly difficult to pry open. We got about 30 feet of range from the remote, which is more than adequate for most living rooms."
So this means that even though the remote can navigate the menus on the iPod, you wont be able to see what you are doing unless you go to the screen of your iPod?

So If I have the Apple iPod Universal Dock and the Apple Remote And a iPod nano do I have front row?

So in case anyone at Apple is paying attention:
1) Offer a package of the Apple Remote, a USB receiver for it, and Front Row together as a bundle for existing Mac users. It is a perfect fit for the Mac mini sitting in my stereo cabinet connected to my TV.
2) Assuming that Photobooth only works with an iSight camera, then why not offer it as a free download for all customers who already have iSights? Presumably it wouldn't do anyone without an iSight any good - right? It should then be packaged with all iSights as a standard part of the package.
If you can't do (1), then at least issue an update to Tiger (10.4.3 for example) that includes Front Row built in with the ability to drive it from a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse? Then offer the Apple Remote with a USB receiver later...
It's so obvious I can't believe it wasn't done today...

IPod Nano and universal dock with remote.

i am looking to dock my nano on the universal dock and use it to connect to my stereo with the remote to change songs should i get the av connections kit. does the remote work well

Playing video on tv using ipod universal dock with s-video

who can help me because i refuse to pay 49 euro's($75) for a cable when this should work?

According to Apple, the iPod Classic IS supposed to work with the Universal Dock w/S-video outpupt.
It's not working for me, either. 160GB Classic.

Another unrecognized iPod in iTunes (with other issues)

I have an iPod video, bought in summer of '06, serial number ends with TXK. So I'm not sure what "generation" this is according to the Apple guide. Anyways..
I decided to start organizing my iTunes. After about an hours worth of work, I plug in my iPod and attempt to sync it. I get an error saying something about the "The disk/file cannot be located." After troubleshooting that, I managed to get it to sync (even though some other errors came up). I had put a new video on and tried to view it on my iPod. The iPod would freeze when I attempted this, so I reset it and tried a few more times. I decided to Restore the iPod since it had been lagging on songs and in the menu as well. The Restore was successful except now my iPod isn't recognized by iTunes. When i plug it in, iTunes starts up like normal, but that's it. I can view it in Windows as well. I've tried everything I've come across these past 3 hours, including removing iTunes and reinstalling. So basically this is a last resort. Help is appreciated. Thanks.

Well I finally got it to work. What I did was, uninstall everything Apple related. Then I went into program files and deleted all the associated folders. Restart. Put in the disk that came with the iPod and install everything. Upgrade the iTunes to the newest version. Restart. And try plugging in the iPod.

Ipod Nano Syncing with itunes issue

I have 3 user accounts on one computer. 2 of users recently purchased songs and these have been shared with each other so they show and play on their individual itunes. Problem is the purchased songs of user1 will not sync with user2 ipod and vice versa?

IPod mini dock with nano issue

After seeing a few people use their iPod mini dock successfully with the Nano, I thought I would try it on mine. It works just fine, except for the fact that after leaving the nano in the dock for a day or so I noticed that it became loose and I had to push it down again on the connector.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Probably just because while the connector is the same the molding is sized for the Mini not the Nano so it's not surprising it might come loose.

Ipod Nano Frozen - with peculiar issue

I need your help in saving my ipod. My ipod is getting frozen and the reset option (menu and Centre key pressing ) does not work at all. But the peculiar thing is the moment i connect it to a USB cable it comes back to life. But the saddest thing is it will be working only for another 1 hr, then it will go into a frozen state.
Nothing will happen untill i connect it to a USB cable.
I tried the RESET, RESTORE option too, nothing worked
The battery is fully charged, its not the batter charge problem. I got this Ipod only 2 months before. Please help.

Ipod Classic 80gb won´t work with apple universal dock and remote

I own 2 ipods a 5th generation 60gb and an ipod classic 60gb. I've just bought an apple universal dock with remote and the original apple component and composite AV cables. I connected the universal dock to my TV via the composite cable, with my ipod 5th gen I can watch videos on the TV and control the ipod with the apple remote but when I connect my ipod classic to the universal dock it will charge but I can´t get any video out or control the ipod with the remote. It's as if the ipod classic doesn't recognize the universal dock and it keeps showing the connect the video accessory screen, even when i tried using the apple component AV cable. I dont think the problem is with the universal dock because it works fine with my Ipod video 60gb, but with my Ipod Classic 80gb the remote control and video out won't work at all, i can´t even control the playback of audio playlists. Does anyone know why that is happenning? Please help me!

I have the Classic 80gb also...same probem. I retuned the Apple Universal Dock and purchased one that was half the price. Pluged it in and it works perfectly! So my advice would be to save some money and get products that work.

IPOD reset after using remote on Hi-Fi

Since I have been using the IPOD Hi-Fi and remote to control my IPod I cannot use without the remote and cannot reset.
Anybody else run across this? Works fine in the Hi-Fi doc with remote but not off the Hi-Fi

This is an AirPort Express http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/ it extends you existing wi-fi network (if using Time Capsule, AirPort Extreme, or another AirPort Express) and when it is connected you can listen you your itunes music through powered speakers using AirTunes.

Universal Dock's remote doesn't work with iPhone Photos

Has anyone tried Universal Dock's remote with iPhone Photos? I can't get it to work.
The remote does work with iPhone music and video though.

i just bought this dock as a car dock. I have it hooked up to power 12v and output to 1/8 into head unit. Now, I have to be in iTunes music to get it to work and it only allows volume, playing of files in a playlist and to next song. Are any of you guys having issues with VERY limited use of the remote and lack of really a benefit from using a remote because you have to touch it anyways to change through songs or video??? Are you guys wondering why you even bought it if the remote is not supported as a functional addition?

I tried a restore on the iPhone and started from scrach, but the same problem exists.

yep... my iphone 4 also having problem like astoker.. u see on dock pin using torch light.. i found 2 pin touch each other.. i solve my problem ready.. thanks wjosten.
