Ipod update deleted music

I pluged my ipod and my motorola ipod phone into my computer to receive the update and after the updates finished all of my music was deleted off of both ipods. Has anyone had this problem or does any one know what i wrong.

LoL, well, sorry to say it, but from my experience, if you do that... you're screwed.
Once you sync it with library, the songs no tin your library will be erased. Like when you delete something off a flashdrive...

  • My ipod is deleting music

i started syncing my music and accident unplugged my ipod and now the a lot of the songs aren't playin. does anyone know whats goin on? (I have a 5th gen. ipod)

Restoring it would remove everything and add back your songs. When you say your ipod is "deleting my songs", then the only thing you can do it to add them back, the best way is using the restore function.

  • HT1351 How do stop my ipod from deleting music?

As I add new songs to my iPod, my iPod would delete multiple songs off my iPod. How can I fix this problem?

Not quite. An iOS backup saves only the camera roll and settings/data for your apps. The apps themselves and all media need to be stored in the local library. If not they will be removed on syncing. Purchased items should be transferred into the library during sync but thay may not always happen. It is also worth noting that iTunes only backs up once each day unless you prompt it to do so again.

  • Updating ipod without deleting music

I can't get at the music on my son's 4th gen ipod touch.  (Ok, we can play it on the ipod, but I can't delete anything.)
I am trying to delete SOME of the music on my son's 4th gen ipod touch.  When I try to access his machine via itunes on my pc, itunes wants to do an update before I can see anything.  Then it says do you really want to delete everything when you update?  Of course I say, no, I DON'T want to do that--and then I'm back to not being able to see anything or get at the music on the ipod. If I choose "cancel", there is no other way to even SEE what's on there.  He's got so much stuff on there I can't update anything without deleting something. I took off all his photos but it's not enough, and I don't want to delete his apps.  Stuck, frustrated...I have no "coping skills" for apple products and I'm ready to flush this thing.  Annoyed that I can't just delete the songs from the darn ipod without having to hook up to my pc and do this update.  (I understand you can do this in 5th gen, but as I said, this is 4th gen.)

I updated my ipod, once i did that my playlists were deleted and when i connect the ipod to my comp. it does not mirror back music stored on my ipod. Help?

    - If they are in an iPod backup then restore from that backup. Note this is only for photos in the iPod's Camera Roll album. See the restore topic of:
    iOS: How to back up
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:

  • Ipod nano deleting music problem

i bought an ipod nano from disc replay for my 7 yr old stepson for christmas and i cant figure out how to delete the previous owners songs off of it and to add our own?

    Hey there JTharp2013,
It sounds like the iPod nano has the previous owners music, and you would like to sync your music to it. You should be able to reset the device back to factory defaults, then use your library to sync your music over with your iTunes library.
    Restoring iPod to factory settings

    How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
    Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Syncing iPod - iTunes deleted music

My son deleted a bunch of music on our iBook in order to make some space on our Hard Disk. We've since gotten more space on the hard disk because I've moved my user data to another computer. There are more songs on my son's iPod than there are in his iTunes folder. How do I sync in reverse?

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. This is just a small selection of what's available, you can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Senuti Mac Only
    PodView Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
iPodDisk PPC Mac Only (experimental version available for Intel Macs)
    iRepo Mac & Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac & Windows
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod

  • IPod sync deletes music/playlists

I am gettng very frustrated with this issue - Everytime I plug my iPod into the computer to charge it initiates an itunes sync - that part is OK, the problem is that it erases all my music from the iPod.  I am using the latest iPod ios (6.x) and itunes (10.x),  When I restore the factory settings and reinstall everything, the music gets copied to my iPod but this is time consuming and I need to do it every time!  Just crazy.  I have wifi and icloud sync turned off.  I have no idea how to get around this problem and am about ready to throw the thing out the window.  It's an ipod touch 60gb with about 12 gb of music.
Can anyone please help with this issue??

Try not letting it sync automatically, i.e., set to "Manually manage ..." in the iPod Summary page. Worked for me for a similar (but less destructive) problem.

  • Deleted playlist that updates ipod-- lost all music on ipod

like an idiot-- i accidentally deleted the playlist that is used to update the songs on my nano. so now whenever i connect my nano to update it theres a msg that says something like "cannot update ipod, the playlist used to update has been deleted." i still have the songs on my itunes but i cant get them on my ipod.. what do i do?!??!

    Create that playlist again.
Or, change your iPod update options to use a
    different playlist that still exists.
i tried that and i dont recall the exact name so it didnt work. how do i change my update options?

  • Can't update iPod or transfer music anymore!

I have an issue that seems a little simialr to Dennis Miller's post...since updating to the most current iTunes, it now does not copy all my music to my iPod, even music I just purchased, and actually removes music that I had on there previously! It tells me my iPod software needs to be updated. So I download the iPod updater and when I try to update the ipod, it tells me that my OS is too old to update my iPod, needs to be 10.2 or later. Problem is, mine IS later than 10.2 (I have 10.3.9) but it will still not let me install on my iPod because of this. (I get a red exclamation point on the iPod icon and only get the hard drive as an option) This is horribly frustrating. Why buy music from iTunes if I can't even play it on my iPod?!! Any ideas?
    Thanks

    experiencing the same issue.
    - updated iTunes to 5.0.1
    - connected (firewire dock) my 3rd Generation 40GB iPod; "You will not be able to copy songs from iTunes Music Store... iPod software too old... etc."
    - running iPod software v.2.2
    - run iPod Updater 2005-09-23; red exclamation over IPod drive icon, "...needs to be 10.2 of later..." (machine stats: G5 Dual w/OSX.4.2)
    - noticed no "cannot copy spngs from iTunes store" dialog when connecting (direct firewire) iPod to G4 Titanium w/OSX.4.2, and iTunes 5.0.1
    - tried same on G5; same alert dialog
    - found a few forum threads regarding, "... delete iPod Driver.kext from(System>Library>Extensions>...", and reinstall from iTunes 5.0.1 package via custom
    - not allowed as the driver is for 10.2.8
think i've covered everything i can dig up, short of reformatting and restoring 5100+ tracks. which i really don't want to do.
    any additional leads?
hey Apple, how about some service? is there/where's the iPod driver for Tiger? or how about a sticky in the iTunes and iPod discussions regarding this issue? or is this not a "recognized" bug yet?

You should take the time to familiarize yourself with the documentation that is available.  You can "uncheck" a song in iTunes, and then do a manual update.
