Ipod updater 6-28 will cause your computer and itunes not to recognize Nano

Updated my new nano, and wha-la, it did not work. Tried the 5 useless R's. What type of updater is this?!! So beta.
THe following worked and I got the information from a posting by Casper.
Open Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management
Under storage, select disk management
Find the iPod volume and right-click on it
Select format
Set the format to FAT32, and leave all the other settings on the default
Make sure "quick format" is not selected
Start the format.
When the format completes, you should be able to restore with the iPod updater of your choice.

You do have to be patient with the above procedure, could also try, using hp usb tool do a search on the forum for that method, there is also a dos method though not tryed it, though be careful here you dont want to format the wrong thing. Here are the instructions though They are alittle vague
1) Put the nano into disk mode
2) Connect the nano to the computer
3) start > run > cmd to get to DOS
4) Once in DOCs, I typed format <drive name>
5) As stated above, I used FAT32.
6) Rebooted computer.
7) Run the updater. The nano was recognizable now
8) Restore nano using the updater. This put 1.2 on there successfully.
9) Ran iTunes, and synched all my music again

When it asks for another ID on an App Update, it means that the application was purchased under your sister's ID but downloaded to your device from the iTunes library that you share. Even though you both have your own Apple IDs, since you are syncing on the same computer, you are using the same iTunes library.
Whoever purchased the app is forever tied to it, and you can only have one version of a particular app in a single library....
Does that make sense?

I've already uninstalled iTunes and QT and reinstalled after problem that happened when I updated iTunes - updated iTunes completely demolished my computer's ability to recognize the sound card and computer had NO sound at all. I had to uninstall iTunes, QT, AND my sound card and reinstall them all. Sound worked fine, but now I can't sync my iPod. Computer recognizes that "something" is hooked up (thinks it might possibly be a camera) and I get that "open with" window. In "my computer" it shows that there is an "iPod" connected, but it is pictured as a camera. In iTunes my username is no longer appearing (although account info is there) and NO devices whatsoever get listed. There is nothing wrong with my USB ports or cable. And of course Apple won't help anyone unless you pay them to. ... I am getting beyond P/Oed!!! You pay hundreds for a product and all you get are headaches with their stupid bug infested software and no support at all.
Can anyone out there help me clean up this unbelievable mess Apple and iTunes has created in my computer?

After three completely wasted days trying to figure all of this out I finally got it fixed - on my own - by reading dozens and dozens of rogue posts in indie forums from people that refuse to dish out money to have a company TRY and advise possible fixes on their own glitches.
(here's a novel idea - fix the glitches Apple. Or - don't send out updates filled with bugs in the first place)
Everything (several applications) had to be uninstalled in a very specific order and then restarted , then it all had to be verified with manual deletions of leftovers, and emptying the recycle bin, then another restart, then iT had to be reinstalled again and the system restarted again, and two more update downloads. Holy!!!
I love my little iPod touch, but I honestly must say, when this kind of thing happens (and it has several times now when I try to deal with iTunes or Apple), it makes me want to flush it down the toilet.

IPod Touch 5th Gen will connect to computer and display in iTunes, but will not turn on

I've had my iPod touch 5th gen in a Lifeproof case and was taking some pictures, and lo and behold, the case seal leaked. I got water inside my case and immediately turned my iPod off and placed it in rice. After two weeks of drying in rice in a warm environment, I removed it and decided to try it out again. Much to my chagrin, my iPod would not turn on and could not be placed in recovery mode; I've tried to place it in both recovery and DFU mode, if only for some response, but nothing. It displays no screen image, no error message, nothing. It shows up in iTunes just as normal, with the name, and I can even view the sync menus for the device. However, I cannot access any pictures (my iPod has a passcode that must be entered first, and to enter the passcode I would have to turn the device on, which is so far impossible).
PLEASE HELP. Lifeproof will replace my case but not my device, and I have several weeks of photos, lots of music, and unsynced apps. (I know I should have backed up more recently, but life gets busy and I wasn't anticipating such a problem).

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic. It could be that the water corroded the contacts so try to clean any corrosion from them.
- Then charge overnight and try what you did before
If still does not work:
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99 for 16 GB 5G and $149 for the other 5Gs.. They do not fix yours.

FIrst make sure you have iTUnes version 6.0.5.20 by going to help>about. If not install it from apple.com Make sure you have the latest ipod updater 06-28-2006, if not download and install it here http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/

IPod touch 2nd gen hooked up to computer but iTunes doesn't recognize it

My iPod touch 2g 8GB has always worked fine and synched with the computer, but now the computer doesn't recognze. It is hooked up to the cable and in the USB port. The iPod itself shows that it is charging, so it knows it's in the computer. iTunes should show devices but it doesn't. What should I do? I can't synch new songs or apps. Hello, my iPhone charges when I charge it with the wall plug but not when connected to a computer via USB and my iTunes doesn't recognize my iPhone either. iTunes recognizes my iPod and iPad just fine. I have been to Apple iPhone support page and I have restarted my iPhone, the computer, tried different USB ports, etc. I have also tried my iPhone on different macs even with different versions of iTunes and no luck. This all started when I was cleaning out some lint from the usb connector, could I have damaged some part of the docking connection? But why does it charge with a wall plug then?

I fixed the problem. When I was trying to clean the connector of the iPhone I must have bent some pins. I have straightened them to the best of my ability and now it syncs. If your iPhone charges, but doesn't sync, most likely you have a similar problem, because the iPhone doesn't need all of its pins to charge, but it does need all of them to sync.

Why does my iPhone 4 not charge correctly? Problem is definitely with the phone and not charges or chords. Phone will charge but very slowly and no icon comes on. Computer and iTunes doesn't recognize it a being connected.

My iPhone 4 quit charging correctly. It does charge but very slowly and icon doesn't indicate it as charging. I've checked cables and charges and the problem is definetily with the phone. My car stereo no longer recognizes it as a device. Neither does the computer. The real strange thing to me is that when I plug it into my old klispch speaker dock it will play songs. My battery life is good when it is charged so I don't think its the battery. I've tried resetting the phone and cleaning the charging port. I'm out of warranty.
Would disconnecting the battery possibly reset it from some glitch or is the charging port got some bad contacts?

I checked with the Genius Bar. It was a new dilema to the lady that was helping me. She took it to a back room and worked on it but it came out the same. She gave me some options for repair or credit for replacement.
I just kept the phone and put up with slowly charging it by plugging it in and then turning it off.
I couldn't transfer anything from itunes.
I finally got fed up and bought a new charging port for $10. and a toolkit for $3. I looked up a video on youTube for the replacement and did it.
That solved all the problems, it was the charging port, must have been some bad pins or something because it patially worked.

Are you using the same USB cable that came with the ipod? Try to use another USB cable in case you didn't do that before. Did you check the docking port for any kond of debris or lint?

Ipod plugged in with light turned on, but computer and itunes not seeing it

I got this ipod as a gift and when I first plugged it in, it worked fine and I put my music on it.
I went to do it again the other day and it does not show up on my computer or in my itunes.
I've tried to uninstall and reinstall itunes multiple times and i've gone through the steps of the help pages on itunes.
Today, it did pop up and said it was going to reset it and then it would restart it automatically when it was done, but it still did not show up on itunes!
Help!!!
