IPod Updater doesn't recognize my iPod anymore

The iPod Updater doesn't recognize my iPod Nano anymore. Only Windows recognizes it.
What should I do now?

Try downloading the Latest iPod Updater and then Restoring the iPod to factory settings.

  • My Ipod Updater doesn't recognize my Ipod nano

Yes, everytime i try to hook up my ipod nano or start up my ipod updater, the ipod updater says "Ipod Service Error!". From there I have no clue what to do. I've done everything that has been asked i've restarted the ipod, put it in disk mode, changed the format of my H Drive, as well as reinstalled both the installer and the itunes, but still neither of them recognize eachother or the ipod. I'm getting frustrated, and i'm asking for help! If anyone has advice i'd be willing to hear it!
    Thank you!

Go here and follow both steps for the "iPod Service.exe" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716

In itunes, when i go to Edit---> set up----> and iPod, it says that 'no iPod is connected' i have been working with this thing for 2 days now and so ****** off. i tried everything in the PDF help file and in the FAQ help page. nothing works.

'spend money ($250) + my valueable time = can't listen to one song.......' someone help me please. Thank You.

    - Reset the iPod. nothing is lost
reset iPod. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - Power off and then back on your router.
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.

  • ITunes & Updater doesn't recognize my iPod :(

    Hi,
I have a 20GB iPod (wheel). I haven't had a problem with my iPod once until 3 days ago when I tryed to put in more music to my iPod. When I plugged in the usb line into my iPod and when into iTunes it didnt recognize my iPod. So, I reformated my computer to see if it helped but it didn't. So I tryed to restore my iPod using the updater, but it froze and didn't recognize my iPod..
So I called the apple costumer support people asked them how to fix my iPod. They said to download the newest updater and itunes which i did and the problem still wasn't fixed. I also tryed restarting my ipod.
Should I send in my iPod or go to a apple store near my house? Before I do this can someone give me some advices and tips... Please help me, I am bored out of my mind when I am on the cheese bus when going to school.
you can reach me on AIM : irich1L
    please help me
    -Rich!

You could take it to the nearest Apple Store where they will either connect it to a Mac, run RESTORE using the latest updater and return it to you or completely replace it. Regardless, your main problem is a connection issue concerning USB. I suggest moving to Firewire(that's what most of the Mac users use).

  • ITunes and iPod updater won't recognize iPod

I'm running Windows XP and it shows the iPod is there but it won't show up in iTunes and iPod updater after 'initializing' for a good 5-10 minutes says either 'could not recognize the iPod' or if it does let me restore give the 'Firmware update failure. Diskwrite error.' I have the latest iTunes and iPod update and went through all the steps in the 'Windows recognizes iPod but iTunes does not' Troubleshooting help section. All these problems started when I tried to update with the new iPod updater software and got an error, everything worked fine before. I have also tried using a friends USB cable the problem is obviously in the Nano itself. Is there any way to safely format without using the iPod updater? or what should I try doing next?
Also it seems like when the nano isn't plugged into a power source it drains the battery, with nothing showing on the screen because it always starts charging when I hook it up to the computer even though it was fully charge before.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hello,
I too am having this exact same problem. My iPod nano was working perfectly until this "latest update" Since I installed that update my itunes and my ipod updater will NOT recognize my iPod. I am getting all the same error messages as you.
I have done EVERYTHING recommeded in the support pages. Reinstall, uninstall, install, reboot I've done it all a hundred times. I have over 5 pages of support documents I printed up and I followed them to the T. I have 10 different USB ports including 3 2.0 USB ports. My windows recognizes the iPod instantly, but the updater will not.
I 'm starting to think it's a problem with the update software.
Please, if anybody has any advice other than "www.apple.com/support/ipod" please post something. I have had my Nano since October and never had a problem with it and I really, really miss it right now.
    Thanks

  • I updated to iTunes 10.2.2, and now it doesn't recognize my iPod Touch!

I updated my computer to Snow Leopard, and I was prompted to update iTunes to 10.2.2. Okay, did that. Now iTunes doesn't recognize my iPod whatsoever! But my computer does as a whole: i.e., Aperture automaticaly opens as it usually does when I plug in my iPod.
So this is great. And there's no bug fix; I've googled for the past hour now. Is anyone else having this issue and is there a fix? Because for now, I can't update my iPod at all!

If nothing else, try upgrading to iTunes 10.3.1.

  • I updated my itunes and now it doesn't recognize my ipod touch

Ever since I updated my itunes to the latest version, it doesn't recognize my ipod therefore I can't sync new songs onto it.
I tried following these apple help steps http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363?viewlocale=en_US but am stuck on #4-11...for some reason I can't delete the Temp folder because it's saying I still have a program open but I'm sure I've closed everything!

You want this article. The article you cited is for regular iPod, not iPS Devices (iPod touch, iPhone and iPad)

  • ITunes doesn't recognize my iPod out of the blue

My USB cable recognizes my iPod because the battery icon on the top right corner will show that the iPod is being charged by the computer, but iTunes stopped recognizing my iPod and doesn't open anymore, even when I open it manually. I upgraded to the most recent version of iTunes, but it still doesn't work.

No I didn't change anything about the software/hardware. All of the sudden iTunes stopped recognizing my iPod, but my computer obviously still recognizes it because my iPod will charge when it's connected to my computer. iTunes just doesn't recognize my iPod anymore, so I tried to download the updated version of iTunes (I got it from another site because I went to the download website on Apple and there weren't any directions or any pop-up boxes to allow me to download anything).

  • Upgraded, doesn't recognize my ipod now (SYS)

I made the mistake of upgrading my iTunes and now it doesn't recognize my ipod. Instead it shows an ipod in the Source window named SYS with none of my music showing up. I think it still is reading something on the ipod because it shows how full my ipod is, I just can't get to any of the music. I mostly use my ipod for listening to music through my computer so it's a bummer that I can't get to it, and there is music on there that I don't have the cd for anymore so I can't just reimport it. Also, I completely removed the new iTunes and reinstalled the iTunes I used previously and it still doesn't work.
If anyone has seen this before or has any suggestions I'd appreciate it. I'm not very computer-literate so talk slow.. haha. Thank you!

  • Mac OS X 10.6.3 doesn't recognize my iPod touch 3.1.3

Help please. My Mac OS X 10.6.3 doesn't recognize my iPod touch 3.1.3, I am using Xcode 3.2.3 now. My iTunes is 9.2.1(5). What will I do?

    Have you tried here:
Mac OS X v10.6 or later: iOS device not recognized in iTunes after restart
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
Is there any reason your OSX is not updated to the latest 10.6.7 and iTunes to 10.2.X?  That may also help.

  • My desktop all of the sudden doesn't recognize my iPod Nano when I plug it in (gives me an error message).  I've tried everything!  HELP!

Up until yesterday, my nano was syncing just fine with my iTunes.  Out of the blue my brand new desktop doesn't recognize my iPod Nano device.  I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes.  I've worked through all the diagnostics apple had to offer... but nothing.  Can you help?

Does this problematic song play okay in iTunes?  Have you tried removing and resyncing it to your device via iTunes?
