Ipod updater not working in Itunes 7

Whener I either try to update or restore my 60GB 5G ipod to firmaware 1.2 using the new itunes 7. I get the message: "There was a problem downloading the ipod software for the ipod "mypod". The required file cannot be found. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later". I'm connected to a stable broadband internet connection and can access the itunes music store for example. I've tried reinstalling itunes 7 and rolling back the firmware using the old ipod updater utility. No luck. Any ideas.
Cheers

  • IPOD TOUCH NOT WORKING WITH ITUNES

    I am using:
iPod Touch 16GB 1.1.4 (With $25 Software Upgrade)
    Windows Vista Premium Edition
    iTunes 7.6.2
Whenever I connect my iPod, the device connect sound is made and it shows up in the my computer window, but it will not show up or sync with iTunes.
I HAVE ALREADY TRIED THE FOLLOWING:
    Reseting the computer
    Reseting the iPod
    Using a different USB port
    Using a different cable
Erasing ALL of the iPod's contents (Yes I lost my $25 update as well)
Restarting the "APPLE MOBILE DEVICE SUPPORT" in the "systems" application
...As well as many other things, all with absolutely NO results.
I have tried to manage my ipod through other programs, nothing seems to work. I connected the iPod to a different computer and everything worked fine.
I ASSUME the problem has something to do with the iPod Touch's drivers; for whatever reason they might be corrupted or installed incorrectly, thus preventing the iPod from automatically reinstalling them as well as preventing the possibility of syncing.
My question is, how can I reinstall the drivers without having the iPod touch do it automatically?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

    I fixed the problem myself.
If anyone else has this same problem and is looking to fix it, here is what I did.
I found this on another site:
"Okay well I spent about an hour on the phone with Apple trying to fix this problem. The guy I talked to seemed to have delt with this problem before. He tould me that Apple was getting numerous calls about the iPod touch not connecting with iTunes. So here is the solution that worked for me.
The first thing you must do it uninstall iTunes and Quicktime using the controll pannel, add/remove hardware, on your windows computer. Once you have uninstalled both of thoes programes go ahead and look for anything else that is Apple and uninstall them as well. There should be an Apple updater or driver that is very critical to uninstall, this was the cause of iTunes not recognizing the new iPod Touch. Next make shure you have the very latest update for Windows on your computer, you can check this on Microsofts web page. Finnaly once you are shure you have UNINSTALLED EVERYTHING that says Apple, iTunes, or Quick time restart your computer and MAKE SHURE THAT YOUR IPOD IS NOT CONNECTED TO YOUR COMPUTER. Then download the newest version of iTunes and install it. Once the installation is complete go ahead and connect the iPod Touch and everything should work.
I am not shure if this will work for everyone but in my situation it worked. I hope it helps some of you out there!!"
That worked like a ******* charm. Hope this helps.

  • Ipod touch not working in itunes 12

Hello, I've just factory resetted my computer, and Itunes was deleted in the process. I reinstalled it, getting Itunes 12.0.1. Now when I plug my Ipod touch (4th generation) into my computer, it says that the ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed, please uninstall, and install a 64bit version of itunes. I do this, and it comes up with exactly the same problem. Any answers?

  • Ipod Updater not working

Keep getting iPod Service error when launching iPod update. iTunes does not recognize the iPod G5 either. Says the software needs to be reinstalled. I've done this several times with the same results.
Had no problem with my other ipod G5. Could this be a defective unit?
    Thanks for any help.

If iTunes does not recognize neither iPod and you are gettin iPod Service errors, most likly its not a defective iPod but a problem with iTunes itself or a PC glitch. Here is a Link to fix your "iPod Service" errors and how to get your iTunes for windows to recognize your iPod or both iPods http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716

I had the same issue after updating iTunes and iPod on slot-loading iMac running 10.4.7. I plug in the iPod and the "Do Not Disconnect" display comes on. Several iPod resets net the same results.
Attaching the iPod to this computer, I get the same results. System Profiler shows this:
    iPod:
    Version: 0.02
    Bus Power (mA): 500
    Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
    Manufacturer: Apple
    Product ID: 0x1209

Is there anyway to rerun the iPod Updater?

  • Ipod Mini Not working with iTunes 7.2

It says that I have a corrupt file on ym ipd and then when I tell it to restore, it says there was a problem restoring and the requested resource was not found. What do I do? This has only happened since the new itunes was installed.
    Kristy

    Hi Sara Rips,
Recently I've seen this error message a lot, and it seems to me like this frequency of it being mentioned around here is caused by the iTunes version 7.1.0.59.
So try downloading the latest version of iTunes (7.1.1.5), and see if that makes any difference:
    Download iTunes - 7.1.1.5
I don't know if 7.1.1.5 helps with the "requested resource" errors, but I'd like to try it out with some folks and see what it does.

  • Ipod update not working

I can't add any purchased music to my Ipod. It keeps telling me that my software is too old and to download the latest version. I've done that and I still can't add purchased music and that message still comes up...

Paul, welcome to discussions! I have to ask what may be a stupid question. When you say you downloaded the latest version of the updater, did you actually open the updater & run it? You most open it the updater & run it, connecting iPod only when asked in order to update your iPod.

  • Older ipod will not work under itunes11

My older ipods will not work under itunes 11, Who can help?

i think at this point we are unsure if the problem is that apple has once again decided to leave something older in the dust (as they've been doing a LOT lately) or that you've found a bug in itunes 11 that will be addressed at a later date. just how old are these ipods? if they were mine and i had to choose between itunes 11 and my ipods i would choose my ipods. right now i would look around the itunes forums and see if anyone else has this problem.

I tried updating my iPod, and ever since it has not worked at all. If I hold in the lock & home button, it will tell me to plug it into iTunes. Once I do that, it says it will restore but every time, restoring it fails. My iPod is not working at all, and I really have no idea what to do. It is just a black screen, and occasionally the white apple will appear as if it were turning on, but it won't turn on. I just need some suggestions on what to do!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The link I and Ingo provided included:
    1. Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
That is more than quicktime and iTunes.  Follow all the instruction in the link for removing and reinstalling the Apple software.
