Ipod updating and deleting all my songs

hi
i have a ipod 30gb video now i have had it for a while now 2 months or so it recently asked me if i wanted to update my ipod i said no since i heard it would delete all my songs so one day i plug in my ipod and it just updates it and deletes all my songs without asking me or anything has anyone else had this happen? I think a couple of thigns are wrong with this. First of all surely there is a way to update it without deleting all your music
itunes should ask you about the update and inform you that the update will delete all your songs
i know i probably should have kept a backup of my music but i didnt expect it to just delete all my music without asking i dont have much disk space i so deleted my music when i put it on my ipod so has anyone else had something like this happen?

Your post is a little confusing, assuming that you use the word "update" as in update the software and not update the songs.
Updating the iPod software does not delete the contents. The iPod software cannot be updated without you first running the iPod updater and clicking on "update". I does not do it itself.
How do you transfer songs from iTunes to the iPod? Automatically or manually?

  • Updated iPod touch and now all the songs are gone.

So I decided to update my iPod touch to iOS 5, and it took a good 13 hours for it to "back up." So I let it happen and I set it up and all again, and I turn it on and everything is gone. So I go to iCloud and back up on my device and all my apps and pictures came back. However, my music was still gone. But when I plug my iPod in and go to iTunes, ALL of my music is in the music tab under my device, and it all plays perfectly! So pretty much, all my music is shown on iTunes under my device, yet no music is on my actual device. I'm in a dilemma because I don't have all the music I had on my iPod in my iTunes library. Also, when I try to add songs to my iPod, it's not working at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Non-iTunes purchased media is not included in your iCloud backup and no synced media like apps and music are in a backup that iTunes makes on your computer. If you subscribed to iTunes Match you can get those back through Match.

  • Ipod updated and deleted me stuff

I updated my b/fs 1st gen touch on my computer. it made a backup then downloaded the update and installed. now i see nothing on his ipod. no music or our photos. what happened? how can i get everything back?

You can redownlod iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
The iPod backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.
It appears you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to 4.2.1
Many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.
Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

  • Find and delete all missing songs

Any way to easily do the trick?

    Yes, download EasyFind here http://www.devon-technologies.com/products/freeware/index.html
and then use to find all files containing that sequence of letters.
Then select them all and tell EF to destroy them.
Just make sure there's nothing in the list you don't want to destroy !

  • Firefox just automatically updated and deleted all of my bookmarks and quicklinks. I tried installing the previous version I had but that did not fix the problem.

    This had better be reversible.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • I think i deleted all my songs...

ok. well, I'm using XP home edition or whatever, and there's multiple users on one computer (multiple files etc.) mind you, i have itunes on both accounts, (for some reason) one with alll of my songs, and another with just one movie trailer. I accidentally transfered my files or something and deleted all my songs from my ipod.. i reeeeally don't want to get all the CDs i imported from into my ipod.. I have a 4GB ipod mini, like the first kind, and i use itunes version 6.
is there any way at all to get all of my songs back?
dell   Windows XP   if you have an answer, please pleeeease answer now. =)

    rayychii,
Does the iTunes under the other user still have all the music?
If so, all you need to do is log back in under the user with all the music, and then connect the iPod.
It should allow you to sync the iPod with that user's iTunes Library at that point.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Will Remote delete all my songs?

When I enable iTunes Remote app on my iPod, will iTunes delete all my songs that's in my iPod currently if I don't have songs in my iTunes library? Same thing for movies, podcasts, TV shows and books. Or when Remote is enabled, can I add the new content that's in my device currently in my iTunes library?

    no.

yes, however, not using the remote app
the remote app lets you control certain aspects of iTunes (e.g. play/pause/skip tunes or movies, add/edit ratings, select airtunes speakers).
if you want to move content from your Touch to iTunes, peruse this post by Zevoneer.

Sync works the same way it always has, connect the device, select the content desired to sync and sync.
All the media should be in iTunes already, iDevices are not and have never been backup devices.
If this is a new computer, move the content from the old computer to the new computer.

From your backup that is in iTunes or in iCloud or resync them from your computer.

  • Deleted All My Songs And I Want New Ones On But It Wont Update

    Ok Well,
i Deleted all my songs on porpose and Then i Put New Songs Into Music On Itunes And Then I Pluged My Ipod In and i went to music on my ipod and all my old songs are still there then i pluged it in again and then it comes up with ''DO NOT DISCONNECT'' and it being like that for a good two hours
    Help!!!

If you have your iPod set to transfer your music manually, then that “do not disconnect” message will continue to be displayed on your iPod until you manually eject it.
You can do this by clicking on the little eject icon next to the iPod listing in the source window of iTunes, or right click on it and select “eject”. There is also an iPod 'eject' icon in the lower right hand corner of iTunes. Another way would be to use the “safely remove hardware” icon in the system tray next to the clock (looks like a grey rectangle with a green arrow above it). Click on this then select your iPod. Or through Windows, select start/my computer, right click on the iPod, select eject. With a Mac, drag the iPod into the trash.
If you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes version 7 or later, connect the iPod and when you see the summary screen, uncheck the box marked "enable disk use".
If you are using an earlier version of iTunes, right click on the iPod in the source list, select options and uncheck the same box.
In future your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished transferring music.

  • Itunes has deleted all my songs from ipod

Hi, I recently tried to update my ipod which had 1,780 tunes on it. My itunes has a library of 2,500 tunes. When I tried to listen to my ipod later it transpired that I had only one tune on it. Itunes had deleted all my songs, my itrip entries, playlists, everything. I have Windows XP and a 4G 40GB ipod.

Sorry I've been offline for a while. I updated iTunes and the new songs were added in the new one. There was a dialogue box that came up saying something like "songs not saved to library you don't have authorization". I clicked on the box. Checked library and all songs are there but not on ipod. Have updated all ipod software too.
Just noticed that I have some songs in C drive and some on D. My main itunes is in D.

  • I just got a new Macbook Pro, plugged my iPod into it and lost all my songs on my iPod.  How do I get them back?

I just got a new MacBook Pro, plugged my iPod into it and noticed all my songs didn't transfer, including the 6 new ones I just purchased.  I then brought it back to my PC to sync, and lost all my songs on my iPod.  I'm now receiving all kinds of weird messages that the name of my iPod is a duplicate and cannot be synced (no matter what I put in it).  During the process of loading it on my Mac., a bunch of odd emails were popping up to sync.  I just kept deleting and adding mine.  Is it corrupted? What have I done??? I am a personal trainer and live by my iPod.  Please help.

Your post is abit confusing, especially on getting those weird messages and emails,( assumed in your Windows machine.)
Most likely you have Restored the iPod using the new Macbook pro, using the same name as that in your Windows machine, hence the duplicate name warning, as it is trying to sync Automatically.
If you are syncing your iPod to both the Mac and Windows, you must set it to Manually Manage Music, in the first machine that you setup iTunes with the iPod. Read thsi Apple Support Article
In iTunes, Preference, tick on Prevent devices syncing automatically
Hopefully your music are still in both your iTunes library,
Connect the iPod to the Mac
Restore it (just to fix any filesystem corruption by the Windows end)
Set it to Manually Manage Music
Sync your selected songs in your library.
    Whern sync complete, Eject it
Connect it to your Windows PC.
Select the song in the library
    Sync it.
It should work if your ipod Hardisk is not giving any problem.
    Good luck!
